To be naked in my own garden?

My children often play naked in the garden in/around our large paddling pool. The other day it was raining but warm and I decided to join them playing in the mud! (Naked, as did not want to ruin swimsuit) Our garden is not overlooked and has over head-height fence on all sides. But had a snotty note through letterbox from neighbour, saying that her boys had climbed their climbing frame and seen us and please would I not do it again. Surely its her responsibility to stop them from being peeping Toms?

It's your garden. I'd run free if I were you

Not really sure what your neighbour thinks will happen if her children catch sight of a naked person Confused

MrsWinnibago · 11/08/2014 13:41

How does mud "ruin" a swimsuit? Hmm

WitchWay · 11/08/2014 13:41

If they had to climb the climbing frame to see you then YANBU.

I was gardening topless in shorts the other day. There is a thin patch in the hedge but the neighbours were out. When they came back I made sure I wasn't near the thin patch & had my top available in case they wanted to chat.

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2014 13:41

They weren't being 'Peeping Toms'...they were children playing on their climbing frame.

I have no problem with nudity, but in the interests of getting on with the neighbours, I would pop an old pair of shorts and a t.shirt on next time.

Naked sunbathing is one thing, but playing naked in the mud is a bit weird imo.

Each to their own though.

lunar1 · 11/08/2014 13:43

How old are the children you are naming peeping toms?

WitchWay · 11/08/2014 13:44

My parents had a neighbour who complained that, when he was on top of a ladder fixing his shed roof, he could see into their garden, where naked toddler grandchildren were in & out of a little paddling pool Hmm

They ignored him.

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2014 13:46

Completely agree with Worra.

Or is this a reverse AIBU?

AnyFucker · 11/08/2014 13:46

Mud wrestling in your garden ? In the nude ? Gosh, do you live next to the Red Sea ?

if I did naked mud bathing in my garden I would risk getting covered in more than mud...cat shit, last weekend's chippy wrappers, a used condom or two...

Lucky you

KirstyJC · 11/08/2014 13:46

I would love to be able to play naked in the mud and rain. How liberating!

Ignore her. What you do in the privacy of your garden is up to you. If you could be seen in public then it might be an issue but if they climbed their climbing frame before they saw you then I can't see the problem.

Maybe you could put a note through your neighbour's door asking her not to allow her children to spy on you in your garden? (semi-joking......)

ApocalypseNowt · 11/08/2014 13:46

Yes it is. Your neighbour needs to teach them if they peer into other people's gardens they may see things they would rather not no offence OP i'm sure you look lovely

Run free OP - a nekkid body is nothing to be ashamed of!

Um, as someone who inadvertently copped an eyeful of my dad's neighbour standing naked in his garden with the family, from my upstairs bedroom window, I think they have a point actually. Absolutely fine if you have no neighbours but clearly if kids could see you from a climbing frame then you are overlooked.

Floralnomad · 11/08/2014 13:50

Each to their own ,but I wouldn't want to become known locally as the woman who plays naked in mud in her garden ,so I would put some clothes on.

kinkyfuckery · 11/08/2014 14:04

At the risk of being flamed, I think you sound odd.

We have no problems with nudity (at home, in the house) but you are okay about frolicking naked in mud with your children, but the neighbour's children are 'peeping toms' for playing in their garden?

Janethegirl · 11/08/2014 14:06

YANBU Nudity in one's own garden is fine by me.

LadyLuck10 · 11/08/2014 14:06

You sound a bit weird. Put some clothes onHmm

scarletforya · 11/08/2014 14:08

Didn't happen.

DorothyBastard · 11/08/2014 14:10

Your other thread suggests you have no children.

HollyGuacamolly · 11/08/2014 14:11

Not weird at all. I often let my dog out in the morning naked (I sleep naked in summer). If someone happens to be peering over my fence at my back door then they'd probably see me, which will serve them quite right for being nosey Grin.

People who have an issue with others being naked in their own homes are seriously weird.

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/08/2014 14:11

It's your garden do as you wish.

As pp said if you look over fences, what you see may surprise you.

But they were just playing on their climbing frame so "peeping tom" is a bit harsh.

If they are uncomfortable with nudity that's their problem not yours.

Bunbaker · 11/08/2014 14:13

This thread is amusing. What's the betting that next door's children are going to spend the rest of the holidays on the climbing frame?

HollyGuacamolly · 11/08/2014 14:14

I really really don't understand why people get so irate about their children seeing other people naked.

AnAwfullyGoodOxymoron · 11/08/2014 14:15

I want to lol

squoosh · 11/08/2014 14:22

I've heard shocking rumours that couples get up to all sorts of naked filth when in their bedrooms. My neighbours will all be getting a stern note through their letterbox this evening.
