To be naked in my own garden?

startledcavy · 11/08/2014 13:38

My children often play naked in the garden in/around our large paddling pool. The other day it was raining but warm and I decided to join them playing in the mud! (Naked, as did not want to ruin swimsuit) Our garden is not overlooked and has over head-height fence on all sides. But had a snotty note through letterbox from neighbour, saying that her boys had climbed their climbing frame and seen us and please would I not do it again. Surely its her responsibility to stop them from being peeping Toms?

Grin at her becoming known as the woman who plays naked in mud

Grin made my day this has

squoosh · 11/08/2014 16:08

Oh let's all get naked and flaunt our bits to the elements.

Net curtain twitchers be damned!

RiverTam · 11/08/2014 16:10

goodness, do what you like! We are so paranoid about nudity in this country, I daresay in Sweden or Holland no-one would bat an eyelid.

worridmum · 11/08/2014 16:10

I know Giles :( I do like my naked sunbathing and hes such a shame that DH would be conisdered a perv for doing the same (I am look that we have a sun trap cortyard were only our own house can see and I assume I dont mortify my children if I am sunbathing in the courtyard ;)

queenofthemountain · 11/08/2014 16:11

If the fence is only head height:-

  1. can't they see you from their upstairs windows, and 2)surely you must have seen their climbing frame
Idontseeanyicegiants · 11/08/2014 16:12

My bits are staying firmly where they are, ie under cover, it's too cold today! Maybe when it warms up again I'll show them to the elements Grin

ADHDNoodles · 11/08/2014 16:16

As long as your fence reasonably hides you from the public eye, then no harm no foul. The neighbor needs to teach their children to respect privacy.

That said, unless your children are toddlers, it's a bit strange to play with them naked in the rain.

What nonsense. She can't expect children not to play on a climbing frame in their own garden or if they do, to not look in her direction.

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/08/2014 16:28

You can expect children to not stare though. Or try and ignore things.

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 11/08/2014 16:28

If I was to go naked in my garden I would either freeze to death or be arrested for bringing the human form into disrepute (to quote Shirley Valentine).

SweetsForMySweet · 11/08/2014 16:33

lmao at this!
Seriously op if my children came home and told me they were mud wrestling naked (with their stepmother or any adult) anywhere while in the care of others, I would be calling Social Services. If this story is true, you are being very inappropriate. It is probably also indecent exposure if other children saw you so your neighbour could report you to the police

I'm thankful you're not my neighbour

startledcavy · 11/08/2014 16:40

Not wrestling! Mud kitchen and mud fight. Paddling pool spillages have made mini-bog!

ApocalypseNowt · 11/08/2014 16:40

In OP's other thread she doesn't have children. In this one she does and mud-wrestles naked with them. Hmm

sweetnessandlite · 11/08/2014 16:40

mao at this!

Anybody else thinking about the topic (recent) about how a mother was mortified because her FIL had got in the shower, nekkid with his grandson, in order to ensure he was washed properly.
Just about EVERYBODY was urging the OP to call social services!

So:
Naked man helping child to shower is wrong,
but
Naked woman mud wrestling with her naked children, out in the open is OK?

(for the record, I don't think either incident is right.)

ApocalypseNowt · 11/08/2014 16:40

Oh there you are OP! Do you have children or not?

PuppyMonkey · 11/08/2014 16:43

The kids are from a past relationship, keep up everyone. I guessing the kids are about 30 or so, anyone else? Grin

Janethegirl · 11/08/2014 16:45

apocalypse see 15:21:37

Gruntfuttock · 11/08/2014 16:45

No Puppy I shouldn't think they're about 30, I was thinking about 20.

ADHDNoodles · 11/08/2014 16:47

What nonsense. She can't expect children not to play on a climbing frame in their own garden or if they do, to not look in her direction.

If you're changing in a locker together, do you stare at each other? No. You look away and do your own thing.

She can teach her children to turn away and not look at something they don't like.

I'm not condoning her actions, but legally, her neighbor has nothing to stand on so she might as well teach her children now they'll see things they don't want to and there's not much that can be done about it except looking away.

PuppyMonkey · 11/08/2014 16:49

Legally her neighbour has nothing to stand on Grin

Unlike the kids who've got the climbing frame Wink

ADHDNoodles · 11/08/2014 16:49

This.

Like I said earlier, I hope your children are toddlers.

alemci · 11/08/2014 16:50

I think its fine for dc but not you if your garden is overlooked. as someone else suggested put old clothes on.

drudgetrudy · 11/08/2014 16:52

YABU and kids on a climbing frame are not peeping toms.
IMHO-odd behaviour
