To think friend did not actually turn up

Friend of many years who is not the most reliable asked if she could come round and give DS his birthday present as she could not come to his party two weeks ago (texted me two hours into it so say she could not come). She was also coming to see me as she knows the issues I am having with soon to be ex husband

So she was meant to be coming round today but did not give a time. Six o clock came and I texted to say are you still coming? Got a text back to say she came at four but I did not answer.

I have been in with DS all day, car in drive and out telly that you can see from the door would have been on. She obviously knows my house phone number and mobile. I am thinking she did not come round and is now makin excuses.

I agree with you
I'd sack her off tbh

sooperdooper · 10/08/2014 18:52

Why not just ask her! I'd have text straight back and said I was in all day, didn't hear the door had my phone on!!!

CornChips · 10/08/2014 18:53

That would seriously piss me off, and i think you are right. I have a friend who would do exactly that.

LadyLuck10 · 10/08/2014 18:55

I think you're right, why would she get all the way there and not even phone you? I would ask her that and see what she says.

NumberOneFan · 10/08/2014 18:56

I would txt her back and say "4pm? We were in the front garden weeding/cleaning the car at that time..." If she corrects herself and gives you a new time, you have your answer!

flyingtrue · 10/08/2014 19:09

I'd go with what NumberOneFan says, in fact I'd add 'why didn't you text or call when you got here?'

iwantgin · 10/08/2014 19:12

Nah.. She is fibbing.

She could have p honed you - or rung the doorbell a few more times if that was really the case.

EverythingCounts · 10/08/2014 19:13

Why wouldn't she have phoned you if she arrived and got no answer at the door? I always do this as often people are in the back garden etc. Agree that she is lying. Send the reply as suggested!

Topsyturvey09 · 10/08/2014 19:54

Have sent the reply will see what I get back

Has she been flaky in the past?

eddielizzard · 10/08/2014 20:57

yup she's flaky. ltb.

Chiana · 10/08/2014 20:58

OP, your friend sounds thoroughly flaky, to say the least. Why wouldn't she have texted or phoned you, if she were at the front door and nobody was answering? It doesn't make sense. I too await her reply with interest.

pictish · 10/08/2014 20:58

I wonder what she'll say?

PookBob · 10/08/2014 20:59

I'd give her one chance, but if she's done this kind of thing before then just forget her.

Clarabum · 10/08/2014 21:00

she's at it! You'd ring the doorbell a few times if you knew your friend was expecting you. She sounds like a dick.

Softlysoftlycatchymonkey · 10/08/2014 21:01

I'm that friend at the moment !

I'm having suck bad luck, I'm taking work to tribunal, the house is falling to pieces and we can't afford to fix it and now I'm run down with a cold sores and mouth ulsers!

I stood my aunty up on Thursday . Have really apologised since. She may have lots of problems going on....? < clutching at staws>>

divingoffthebalcony · 10/08/2014 21:01

Definitely lying. She doesn't want you to think she's been totally flaky AGAIN.

RubyGoat · 10/08/2014 21:07

YANBU. She obviously thinks you are an idiot if you swallow that line!?

BakerStreetSaxRift · 10/08/2014 21:15

Yeah, I think she's lying too.

I do think it's weird when people lie about things like that, they just make themselves look like a dick.

FreeLikeABird · 10/08/2014 21:26

I think she is lying.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/08/2014 21:27

Lying her arse off. Definitely.

Optimist1 · 10/08/2014 21:30

Definitely lying.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 10/08/2014 21:34

Deffo lying! She would have called or text you either whilst on the doorstep or when she got home to let you know she had been.
