How foolish was I to believe this Amazon email.

They sent an email this morning saying they were going to deliver my item this morning .

I was really pleased as I hardly ever get myself something .

I am approx 2 ft from My front door .My DH has been outside fixing the car for the last two and a half hours with our DS.No vans have gone past at all .
They have just sent me an email saying they tried to deliver but failed .

Seriously can't abide liars.

That's very weird as amazon is usually brilliant with delivery. Maybe ask what time they said you weren't in.

It isn't Amazon, it's the delivery company. However, complain to Amazon.

Have complained .Amazon are usually very good .
It's the lie about trying to deliver it that gets me .
I can't be the only one this has happened to .

My lovely neighbours take in parcels for me. I had (with their permission) put that if I was out they should deliver next door.

I never left the house. Father was sitting near the window with it open, right next to the road. Nice Mr Next door was working on a car outside. I got a card through the door. I couldn't believe it! They must have sneaked it into the letterbox with ninja stealth.

Fortunately I managed to get a number to speak to someone real at the delivery company and got a re-delivery. I was so fed up though. I get everything delivered so most of the delivery drivers know me, but it was the usual driver's annual leave.

And, and the man who did the delivery told me off. Because he had to come back on account of not eg ringing the bell, reading instructions and passing to next door (who had actually asked if they could sign for it and the driver had refused) or basically being sat on my step waiting.

You know all those far-fetched stories about deliveries not happening. I usually believe them.

On a separate occasion Amazon rang me to say that they had tried to deliver and while I wasn't in they had handed the parcel to my mother. I explained (after a stunned second) that my mother passed away over a decade ago.

It turned out a parcel sent to my friend whose mother had taken it.

I don't have to make things up. It just happens.

Amazon didn't lie, the delivery company did and I bet it's CityLink but if you complain I'm sure they'll sort it for you.

I've been a Prime member for 2 years and they've never let me down; their customer service is pretty sharp.

Not Amazon, but I heard the letterbox go and saw a "sorry we missed you" card come through. The postman hadn't knocked or rung the doorbell. I rushed after him and said "I was in, could I have my parcel please?" And he said, " I haven't got it." I asked why and he said, "Well, you're never in, so I just bring the card and leave the parcel back at the delivery office for you to pick up."

Needless to say, I had words with Royal Mail!

One of the courier companies presumably used to employ Dr Who to do their deliveries. He put a card through my door at 9.30 which said that he'd tried to deliver at 10.15 but no one was in. Hmm

That sounds identical to my story the other day. This was YODEL delivering an Amazon item.

After staying in all day, I checked online, and it said "a card has been put through the door" (but no card at my house). I went through the automatic thing to arrange redelivery for the following day (thinking I'd just missed it somehow).

The following day, the online thing said it had been delivered to a neighbour. Our neighbour hadn't received it. I contacted them and they gave me the surname of the person who signed for it, and promised to interview the driver.

Anyway, after some google sleuthing, I found someone with the surname at another road on the other side of town with the same name but different suffix (think XYZ Road vs XYZ Lane) - and a completely different post code area.

I drove over there myself, explained to the "neighbour" about the mix up, and got the parcel myself. Not heard back from the delivery company. I think the delivery driver must just have guessed at the right location.

They left me NO CARD when they allegedly tried to deliver it.

I had one where a timed delivery (before 1pm) was delivered and signed for by my porch. Very clever that porch Hmm. No card through the door, I just happened to check on the delivery company parcel tracker when it failed to arrive

I rang Amazon to complain as I'd been in waiting the whole time and was told it had been 'delivered to the wrong road' and that the driver was going to collect it and bring it round later. They refunded the cost of delivery, though.

I had this the other day! I think they tried to deliver to the unoccupied house next door to us (very similar house name and helpfully has a for sale board up with the name on). I called amazon and had a very confusing conversation with an American call centre and my item arrived the next day - I left a sign on next doors gate, not sure I ever would have got it otherwise! Amazon was fantastic when Royal Mail did the deliveries, now it is awful and I won't be using them again.

I've had this. Turned out they left the electrical item on the doorstep of my neighbour nearly a mile away, they were on holiday, it rained that week.

Was it Amazon Logistics - they are even worse than Yodel, if could believe that is possible.

They won't tell you where the depot is either so you can't go and collect it. They just pretend to keep on delivering it until you explode with anger and tell them to fuck off with their order, you'll buy the thing from somewhere else

This has just happened to me too. Amazon used to mainly use Hermes here - who are totally fantastic in my area, by far the best of the local delivery companies. Then recently they switched to Amazon Logistics who don't seem able to deliver anything. Yesterday I got the email saying my address was undeliverable. That would be the address they've been delivering to for yonks, the address that someone was in at, the address that not a single "attempted delivery" card was left at, etc etc. Detached house, suburbs - plenty of parking, no barriers between the street and the door, not even a dog to put them off! Worst of all, the package was a thin book which surely would have fitted through the letterbox even if no-one was in. I don't believe the Amazon Logistics courier even came here.

Some of the delivery companies are dire. I had this the other day with a parcel - customer signed for parcel appeared on the website. I'd been in all day, working in a room that looks over the front door, no I really hadn't!

The Hermes delivery guy, who I know and does his best with a bloody awful company, came the following day to deliver another parcel, and when I explained he checked his records, disappeared for a few minutes and then came back with the parcel. Only half the label had been printed by the company sending the parcel out, there was no name and only half the address and he had no other data but the parcel number, he'd made the best guess he could with the information he had. I had a baffled neighbour a street away who had signed for it before realising it wasn't hers and then had no idea what to do with the parcel as no name on it. She was glad to give it back to him! If I hadn't been able to talk directly to him and explain neither he nor I nor the sending company nor this poor neighbour would ever have known how to sort that out.

I think, to an extent, it depends on the individual driver and not the company. Our Yodel man is fantastic , as is our Hermes lady - it's always the same people and they know exactly where to leave parcels if we're not in, which door to knock, etc. Royal Mail are also excellent. Amazon Logistics are awful and have really put me off using Amazon.

Amazon have started doing some of their own deliveries. I don't think they're very good.

I agree that it completely depends on the driver, Round here Yodel, Interlink, City Link, DPD are all fantastic.

Hermes are awful, stolen items, lost items, threatening behaviour. I don't order with companies that use them as it's just not worth the bother.

We had this with ShittyLink a few times. Several times the system said delivery attempted, but no card was left. After several times of this happening we got talking to one of their drivers who advised that this is how the system works when they are busy - he told us the parcels never even leave the depot on day one, just a load of 'attempted delivery' updates made on the system - this means that they don't lose out money for delivering late. they then delivered a day or two later without penalty. Really awful system if that is true - I wouldn't mind the delay - its the sitting in all day waiting for something that was never going to arrive and then being lied to about it that bothers me!

Was it Yodel? They're a nightmare in my area. Same guy always comes but its like he's playing a game of hide and seek with me because he does everything he can to avoid actually handing the parcel to me! I do 99% of my shopping online so I get to know roughly what time to expect each courier company as they tend to deliver at the same time of day. Yodel in my area tend to deliver around 9am so I always make sure I am in the vicinity of the front door at that time. A couple of times the doorbell has not been rung (nor a knock on the door) and a card has been put through the letterbox saying they missed me and to reschedule delivery. Most of the time, he rings the doorbell and immediately walks off back to his van, as if he is not expecting me to answer. The other day he didn't ring or knock, just left the parcel between my car and the garage Hmm The worse incident which really ticked me off was when I actually watched him through the glass in the front door, just put a card through the letterbox (without ringing or knocking) and then walk back to his van. I immediately opened the door to see him getting in his van, noticing me and then saying 'Oh you're in are you?!' Me:'No, I'm not, I'm actually a hologram' Angry Bloody company! I hate it now when I know it's Yodel and I literally wait by the door at 9am to catch him out! Angry
