They sent an email this morning saying they were going to deliver my item this morning .

I was really pleased as I hardly ever get myself something .

I am approx 2 ft from My front door .My DH has been outside fixing the car for the last two and a half hours with our DS.No vans have gone past at all .
They have just sent me an email saying they tried to deliver but failed .

Seriously can't abide liars.

I'm in the US too. I ordered a new Kindle and it sat on my front step from 10.30am till I got home at 4pm. I do not have a long path. I have no front gate.

It's weird how safe stuff is!

It'll be interesting to see how UPS go about delivering a very large (37lb) package I'm expecting on Monday!

Did it turn up ? I was notified by email that a delivery would come today and nothing has arrived so far. Package could certainly have fitted through letter box and no card left . Site says out for delivery since just after 7am Hmm How late do they deliver ?

I had one once here in Jersey. My friend ordered a birthday present for me from superdrug to be delivered.

Except Citylink took it to Leed. To Jersey Road in Leeds. Rather than Actual Fucking Jersey.

And funnily enough i never got it back, and superdrug had to send it out again. It was even signed for.

So it arrived today while I was at work
What was the point of arranging to deliver between 6 pm and 9 pm
Luckily some one was in to take it in.

aargh, latest email says they tried to deliver it but failed so will try again on Monday. It should fit through letterbox or they could have left it in our porch Hmm Was only out over lunchtime too.

Lizs they lied simple as that.
Because if they had been there would be a card or they would have put it through the letter box

Will be interesting to see if it suddenly fits through on Monday. Admittedly our house isn't readily identifiable from the road, especially with a car on the drive or van parked on the road (neighbours had a delivery themselves this morning which parked over our dropped kerb) , so they either quickly gave up or never came.

Now they say they will attempt delivery again today!

It should say on the tracking, I think.

might have just missed them earlier assuming the time of the message is the time they tried but yesterday afternoon I was definitely in and the email was later !

History states 6.04pm yesterday, 5.09pm today. Carrier is Amazon , never had an issue before. Email says they will try again tomorrow (probably wouldn't be in) but account says contact courier Confused

Amazon told me that I had to enter in safeplace info with each order, not stored for the address.
Now use Collect+ as default delivery option, least now I get told item has been delivered and I can pickup on way back from work.

I my experience the courier and Amazon don't really communicate.

I once had "address inaccessible' and then "package undeliverable because lost" or some such nonsense.
I rang them, they send a replacement, then the original - lost, according to courier, parcel arrived, I had to ring to cancel the replacement.

It was epic. I a bad way.

I now use a local pick up place.

DoctorTwo makes a good point. I'd ordered something that was to be delivered by DPD recently and was very impressed to receive a text from them first thing in the morning confirming that the item would be delivered between 15:30 and 16:15 and reminding me that I could track its progress online. Can't remember whether it was the text or the website that told me that my item was number 192 on the driver's route ! Timing was spot on, though, and driver still managed a smile when I offered him a bottle of cold water.

I get it, it's not easy being delivery driver, but just because a job is not easy that's no excuse for not doing it properly. Most delivery drivers manage without lying. It's the bloody lying that drives me bonkers.

My job isn't easy either, and I am expect to be able to do it.

I've never had a text with a time estimate, never mind for such a short time window.

I agree, coffee, there's no excuse for lying or being sloppy about checking correct address, etc.

It was the lying that made me start this thread .
It was only when I told them I had cctv that they actually believed me .

The silver lining - I buy less from Amazon and more from my local bookshop, which deserve it better.

DH has just found an Amazon box dumped outside our neighbour's house. They went on holiday yesterday so we have stored it in our garage, though we will have to pass it on to another neighbour at the end of the week as we are going away before neighbour comes back. It was dumped on the path in full view of anyone passing by.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned up thread, but when I complained because of a similar situation, I was told that many companies these days do not leave 'you were out' cards anymore as it is possible for someone else to get hold of them and get the parcel redelivered somewhere else. Basically you get to know that they tried to deliver something through an email or when you realise that your parcel has been returned to the sender because you were not home for three or more times. Seems pretty contorted to me and a really handy way for companies to avoid delivering parcels if the drivers are late on their schedule or can't be bothered.

finally success ! Turns out they had put the 6x2x1/2 inch item in a cardboard envelope larger than A4, hence it didn't fit through letterbox.

How about this then - yesterday I was in the back garden and expecting an Amazon delivery. I went inside to check if I might have missed them and found two parcels on the entrance hall chair, the front door was locked on the Yale! The back door was unlocked though so the driver must have come in the back (side) door and through the house! Well and truly flabbergasted.

Well, I'll be.... stayed in all day waiting for an Ikea delivery... got an early delivery of some Chinese wok stuff I had forgotten about.. waited.

Now, I had a hairdresser's appointment at 4, so I had already laid my bets...

... sure enough, 4 came, out I went, little note left on the door, please deliver round the back. I didn't hold out much hope, but you know, you do these things.

Anyway, new hairdresser did a lovely job on my hair and back home I came. The note was no longer on the door could it be possible...?

Yes! There they are, 4 boxes neatly stacked in the conservatory/room we haven't got a use for yet!

A victory for common sense! I have no idea who the deliverers were, but I like them Smile
