I am too angry to think of a reply right now. This person is always having a go at the jobless, it wasn't that long ago when her immediate friend circle - including me were long term unemployed. I see it as an insult to all of us

She is telling it like she feels.......and is probably accurate about the money. She's obviously pissed off !

Sounds like she's being passive aggressive to a particular person who is unemployed, collects twice was much as she earns, and complains for having to spend 10 minutes in the same working conditions she endures 40 hours/week. Is this person in your immediate circle of friends, OP?

Doesn't sound like a generic rant about all unemployed people.

Honestly, I wouldn't take the bait.

Just unfriend her. Life's to short to waste on people who make you angry.

Alternatively photo shoot her status and send it to royal mail?? Surely she would face some sort of rap on tge knuckle for this and possibly be unemployed herself.

Why report her to her employer? So she ends up with no job just for expressing how she feels?

So there are no customers in that post office who are off on annual leave or maternity leave or part time? Or term time only? Pensioners? Using their lunch break up to wait in a massive queue just to post a card abroad?

Funny how your friend knows that none of her customers fall into those categories!

Oh, and if the job pays so little then they would be paying very little in tax anyway. So it's a shit argument.

She's probably got a good point although not applicable to all obviously.

Sounds like she's the sort of "friend" ou can do without, if she can post something that insensitive to several of her friends' situations.

Delete her and then forget about her - she's not worth it.

I learnt a while back not to get angry about FB statuses. About the time one of my friends started calling for the death penalty

It's an extremely unprofessional post that could get her into deep trouble if her employer sees it.

And also, it's extremely unlikely that everyone using her post office is unemployed. What about pensioners, people who work shifts or part-time, people on holiday (especially likely given it's school holidays now), people on maternity leave, and so on?

£400 A WEEK?! Do people really get that in benefits?

I think that if people know where she works and that she is passing judgement on the "customers/clients", it absolutely should be reported to her boss. It shows a massive lack of professionalism and poor judgement to post like that in public! Most employers look very dimly on employees using social media in a way that brings the company into disrepute.

Can you imagine a teacher or GP having a public rant about the dreadful people they had to deal with?

I asked who is on those kinds of benefits, she said "A person who came into the post office today". How she gathered that kind of information is anybody's guess. She works in the Travel Agent (seperate company) within the post office

This is the same person who posted a picture of an elderly customer on her facebook and mocked him. She had taken the photo sneakily from her desk. (I have name changed since that post)

Not a very sensible thing to post, but my nearest city post office is a depressing, filthy, stuffy hole. It's horrible to queue in, I try very hard to go somewhere else. It must be unbelievably awful to work in, knowing that the customers are going to give you stick about the heat and the staffing levels and you just have to nod, smile and be polite.

I would report her to the company she works for then. That is a very unprofessional post.

And I would unfriend her as she sounds awful.

Sounds to me like she is a bit insecure about working in the post office on a low wage. Someone has probably had a rant or a dig at her.

I'd put it down to being a bad day.
Her point, however ineloquently put, is at least she is working which I agree with. pp about how low her taxes must be is right.

However, it's a pretty ignorant assumption that everyone who walks through the door is there because they're just living off the state.

this is the whole problem with people thinking that using FB is the same as having a moan to a small group of mates down the pub after work. It's not!

we all moan about our bosses, our colleagues, the people we have to deal with, but you just cannot go around saying stuff like that in writing all over FB.

If you like her at all, I would send her a message saying does she realise she could get into trouble for that and she ought to delete it. Concerned for her rather than judgemental if you like.

The comment about the elderly customer is utterly reprehensible, that deserves reporting.
