"If you come into the Post Office, please do NOT proceed to tell us IT'S HOT!!!!! We know this as we are working whilst all you people with no jobs lap up the sunshine and spend my good earned TAX money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because you have no job and receive £400 a week, doesn't mean you can flaunt it around when I work 40 hours a week for HALF your money!

Rant Over!!"

I am too angry to think of a reply right now. This person is always having a go at the jobless, it wasn't that long ago when her immediate friend circle - including me were long term unemployed. I see it as an insult to all of us

Mordirig · 29/07/2014 13:41

report her and then post her a picture in your cosie enjoying a nice drink in the sunshine telling her it won't be long before she can enjoy all the sun she likes if she carries on being incredibly unprofessional.

Jayne35 · 29/07/2014 13:58

if so she can say whatever she likes. would you advocate censoring facebook statuses?

unfriend her if you object and send her a message telling her why. To go behind her back and report her to her employer, probably costing her job is under-handed and cowardly.

Totally agree with the above post kerrymumbles Too many people seem to have so many 'friends' who aren't even close, then they complain about their status updates and opinions.

OP delete the person if you don't like her. Tell her why too if you are offended by her comment. If she continues to post statuses about her place of employment they will notice eventually.

Aeroflotgirl · 29/07/2014 14:08

Yabu no she should not put the status on, you don't need to air your dirty laundry on facebook. It's a free country, she us entitled to her view as long as it's nit sexist, racist, disability, homophobic etc. she probably witnesses it every day, it is probably the same people. What are you hoping to achieve by reporting her. That she looses her job, and cannot support herself or family, nice!

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 29/07/2014 14:09

I don't understand why anyone would report her to get employer?

Optimist1 · 29/07/2014 14:14

As a PP pointed out, if she's earning £200 a week she's unlikely to be paying tax!

D0oinMeCleanin · 29/07/2014 14:17

People don't get £400 pw in unemployment benefits. Don't be silly.

They do or could get close to that in WTC, CTC, HB, CTB etc which are all income based benefits available to people in work.

If anyone has an issue with this, they should take it up with the employers who do not pay a living wage, rather than the people who are forced to rely on often unreliable councils and government agencies to be able to live, despite them working.

We sack people for comments on social networking sites like this a lot. When I say 'we' I mean the company I work for (large retailer).

CSIJanner · 29/07/2014 14:32

Is she in work posting this? Then that's using then Internet for social media and personal usage in the companies own time. Which the Post Office does have a policy for.

Topaz25 · 29/07/2014 14:41

What she is doing is reportable. Slagging customers off on social media is completely unprofessional and many companies have a policy against making them look bad on social media. If she carries on being so like this someone will report her and she will end up among the ranks of the unemployed she likes to look down on. And maybe someone who is unemployed and would actually be grateful for the job will get it.

My aunt mum was in getting her social security and was she meant to be working. Anyway people gossip people feel hatrd done by today instead of complaining all over the village they do it on fb,

Staryyeyedsurprise · 29/07/2014 14:53

This is the case I'm thinking of: metro.co.uk/2011/11/29/apple-sacks-worker-samuel-crisp-over-iphone-facebook-rants-237567/

and also some more general information here from a legal perspective:

Vivacia · 29/07/2014 14:54

I'm not going to report it, the last time I posted about her I was accused of being VVU.

That's not how I remember it. Didn't you get lots of back-up encouraging you to "dob her in"?

My gossipy neighbour used to work in our post office...

Well, it's amazing what you can pick up there.

AlexVause82 · 29/07/2014 15:10

In my OP and subsequent posts I have not mentioned that I would report her, simply asking if IABU to feel so angry about it.

OP posts:
Smilesandpiles · 29/07/2014 15:21

There are very, very few who receive that amount, let alone collect it at the PO every week. There are few benefits that are paid every week, Child benefit can, and tax credits. These don't amount to £400 a week.

It's all done through your bank account now so no need to go to the PO.

I think that it's a load of bollocks and she's just making up figures and having a rant just because she can.

Davsmum · 29/07/2014 15:39

Unfriend her. She sounds obnoxious.

deakymom · 29/07/2014 22:38

problem is it really is hot in our post office (before we got a new one) hotter than outside people used to sympathise and occasionally moan to the staff about how good they had it as they were the ones with the fans its really aggravating for them!

no excuse for facebooking it though dont they have friends irl they could moan at?

littleSpud · 29/07/2014 23:35

Yanbu

BobbyJones28 · 29/07/2014 23:42

shes telling the truth though so yabu

slithytove · 30/07/2014 00:09

Is this the friend who works for a travel agent?

ladymariner · 30/07/2014 00:09

That message would annoy me but I wouldn't think any more if it, apart from how stupid it makes her sound.

HOWEVER, the mocking of an elderly customer would have sent me skywards and I would have reported her like a shot, the nasty, vindictive cow.

OfaFrenchMind · 30/07/2014 00:17

So you just discovered that people are not perfect little robots that do their hardest not to have an opinion or be as bland as possible. Yes, people unwind, at the pub, with friends, and sometimes, even if it is not wise, on Facebook. Liberty of speech and all that, even if it is offensive to some. She is not saying anything racist, sexist, nor homophobic. She just has a very different opinion from you, but still a valid one.
You don't like her opinion, your unfriend her. But don't expect everybody to be a perfect template from MN.

For the Reporting squad: one of the things I appreciate about being French is that we are so rightly ashamed about what we did during WW2 and the Occupation that reporting people, unless they are murderers or committed a serious crime, is seen as the lowest of the low. The United Kingdom retained their honor during this time, so most of you do not understand the stigma and the pettiness behind denouncing somebody for a suspicion of petty crime, or an opinion. Still, for me, it makes me heave. Just pray that something like this never happen to you (and your fantastic country that I love very much)

trufflehunterthebadger · 30/07/2014 00:24

Op, i remember your post about the old man that she made fun of. I'd report her now. Her behaviour is nit that if a professional person and is bringing her employer into disrepute
