To be absolutely steaming about having a free copy of the Sun delivered by Royal Mail?

I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

I don't see anything passive agressive about taking action in such a way. You never know, those 'poor blokes on minimum wage in the mail office' may also, I don't know, also be capable of independent thought and may actually support the call to return the copies of the Sun. I know of at least one - I live with him.

TillyTellTale · 09/06/2014 15:39

On behalf of the over-worked postal workers of the UK, I call on everyone to bloody write the postcode on. Clearly!

Use the Royal Mail postcode finder, available on the Royal Mail's website if necessary- do you know, there are people using postcodes that were abolished and replaced 25 years ago? I know, 'cos I've sorted them.

I think all present workers are fine with sorting post, though. More the better- they/we don't want more redundancies and doing overtime is strictly voluntary and paid.

Just don't defecate on it; that's fucking disgusting.

AgaPanthers · 09/06/2014 15:50

People will never learn their correct address. They can't even manage to put the correct phone numbers. (0208 anybody???)

TillyTellTale · 09/06/2014 15:57

If I co

SauceForTheGander · 09/06/2014 16:01

anya I think you're on to something

TillyTellTale · 09/06/2014 16:09

If I could grasp having a new postcode when I was 13, long before I ever worked at Royal Mail, so can all adults!

Twenty-five years?! Shock

And for heaven's sake, if you want your letter to go straight there, and not to be misread and sent somewhere else in the country, be careful with the postcode. Some of them look similar when scrawled hurriedly, and the new lad in Reading may decide it's suburb X in YW10 instead of suburb X in YN10. Then

FieldRose · 09/06/2014 16:10

I also had an email back from Royal Mail about the opt out for unaddressed mail but that if I selected this I would miss out on important local/government mail. So I emailed back with what do I do if I wanted important local/government mail but don't want unsolicited and inappropriate mail...

Hiawatha44 · 09/06/2014 16:13

Have read the whole thread so sorry if repeating anything - but I don't think it's an over reaction to not want a paper that claims my father stole off dead fans or pissed on them or actually caused the disaster.

My father was heart broken enough and suffered from terrible survivor guilt until the day he died the shit that the scum published almost destroyed him.

So no I shouldn't get over it!!

SelectAUserName · 09/06/2014 16:14

Thanks Hiawatha

Mckayz · 09/06/2014 16:18

Hiawatha, very sorry to hear about your father's guilt. Sad

LastTango · 09/06/2014 16:22

Well, if you don't want shit coming through your letterbox............tape up your letterbox.

A bit more for the compost bin, in our house.

I'm surprised OP that your sad face isn't on the front of the DM in protest!!

MrsCosmopilite · 09/06/2014 16:24

I don't want that crap in my house. I'd use it to line the cat's litter tray except it would lower the tone in there.

Perhaps I should though, then send it back?

TSSDNCOP · 09/06/2014 16:26

I'm happy to support Liverpool on this one. I have a note for my door ready saying "RM Do not deliver the Sun to this house" if they fail to do that I shall return it without a stamp.

Sixweekstowait · 09/06/2014 16:27

LastTango - Confused and I'm not sad I'm mad and don't even get me started on the DM - not on this thread

Thank you steely.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 09/06/2014 16:31

LastTango did you read Hiawatha's post before you typed that?

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 09/06/2014 16:34

Thanks for Hiawatha and your dad. Honestly, I feel ashamed and Shock that there are Hillsborough survivors and their families having to read some of the posts on this thread.

Not read it all but there is a petition

www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/petition-launched-unions-meet-post-7237553

I don't want it in my house and I am quite offended that I may have no control over that. don't much like getting bills but I know I need to pay them.

Some of the other stuff I don't want but it doesn't actually offend me, the Sun does, and did even before Hillsborough.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 09/06/2014 16:58

www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/hillsborough

This page has a rotating banner of the 96 people who died at Hillsborough, 38 of whom are aged between 10 and 19.

So when you are writing 'get over it' 'why the drama' 'overreaction' 'DM sad face' ask yourself if you would ever forgive the national newspaper that accused the survivors of outrageous obscenities; the survivors who lost 38 children and 58 other friends that day; the survivors who have been scarred for life from what they experienced.

SauceForTheGander · 09/06/2014 17:05

Shakes People who are saying get over it totally lack the imagination to empathise - the trauma suffered that day was bad enough with The Sun being complicit in the cover up. Whether they were willingly complicit is up for debate of course. But they certainly helped shift attention.

I certainly couldn't move on or forgive. The Sun is a pernicious pile of crap. It's arrogance that it thinks everyone in the country should get a copy - for football FFS - pisses me off as well.

Nancy66 · 09/06/2014 17:05

A little quiz for you.

Guess which part of the UK has the most subscribers to Sun online?

SauceForTheGander · 09/06/2014 17:07

Sorry - auto corrected errors there Wink

PossumPoo · 09/06/2014 17:21

Link to back that up Nancy?

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 09/06/2014 17:22

Sauceforthegander I agree.

morethanpotatoprints · 09/06/2014 17:29

We didn't get one, maybe our area buys enough.
