Remember that thread about wanting to be a Jilly Cooper character?
I think that's me right now - I want to be going to a terribly glamorous office party (after a week of only eating steak and oranges) or holidaying in San Tropez with some very unsuitable tennis players.

I've just been reading Appassionata, I used to be in an orchestra and actually, a lot if it is scarily true to life!

I fancy a Pimms now and a polo match to watch. Preferably with a stately home party to go to afterwards and the chance of a steamy clinch with Lord Sexonastick before we run off in his helicopter, become the world's greatest steeplechaser and wear shirtwaisters forever.
I don't even know what a shirtwaister is, but I want one.

I remember being so excited when her last book came out - I had the date on my calendar and everything. I read she was planning/working on another one about racing, but I imagine she was knocked sideways by the death of her husband not long ago

I love JC, have read all of her books and am trying to work out if I can get away with naming our first DC - due August - after one of her characters

Oh on one hand I really want another new JC book, but on the other, she has never bettered the divine trilogy of Riders / Rivals / Polo IMO

DH got some nettle stings going round the back passage (fnarr!) to the end of the garden today. Did I dip some dock leaves in a romantic pond, anoint his legs then tenderly move my hand upwards in gentle strokes until I reached his . . . ? Well no I didn't actually. I told him there was some anthisan in the medical kit.
