To feel so much better after emptying my bowels?

Defenbaker · 30/04/2014 02:53

To give a little background, I've never been very regular... sometimes it could be 2 or 3 days between bowel movements. However, I've recently been eating more fruit and less junk food, in an effort to lose weight, so I'm getting more regular now and feeling much better for it. In fact, two days running I've passed what could accurately be described as mini torpedoes, and afterwards I feel SO much better! Grin

I can now understand why some people have colonic irrigation, though I've never been brave foolhardy enough to try it.

OP posts:

TMI

nomorequotes · 30/04/2014 03:12

Yanbu and anyone who disagrees has not had to deal with bowel issues.

neiljames77 · 30/04/2014 03:51

Yanbu (unless it's in public)

PenguinBear · 30/04/2014 06:01

YANBU Grin

myitchybeaver · 30/04/2014 06:04

Not much in life is better than the feeling of passing an enormous turd and knowing your bowels are now vacant. I completely agree.

ICanSeeTheSun · 30/04/2014 06:06

Really depends on the toilet you used.

cherrytree63 · 30/04/2014 06:19

YANBU! I have diverticular disease and my greatest fear is constipation. I have had two operations recently, and the combination of fasting, getting a bit dehydrated, lack of exercise and painkillers has really interfered with my bowels. So I totally agree about the satisfaction of a good bowel movement! Grin

wannabestressfree · 30/04/2014 06:21

I am very jealous of your 2-3 days.... I am 15-20 movements a day as have crohns. Sob

Vagabond · 30/04/2014 06:52

If you want to make it even better, try taking aloe vera as a supplement. It's available in liquid form at Holland and Barratt. Makes you v. regular!

isitsnowingyet · 30/04/2014 06:54

Yuk yuk yuk. Is there no limits to what a thread on Mumsnet will discuss??

CoffeeTea103 · 30/04/2014 06:56

Tmi. And this should be common sense anyway, with less junk food. Hmm

Bonsoir · 30/04/2014 06:59

If you cut out the junk and eat five a day plus high fibre carbohydrate (bulghur, lentils etc) you will be regular as clockwork (every morning) and feel a lot more energised.

Barefootgirl · 30/04/2014 07:05

Few things are as under-rated as a good poo, and few things more over-rated than a bad fuck.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 30/04/2014 07:05

YANBU tthe digestive system is incredible. I often think how great it is that so many people can take it completely for granted (to the extent of finding it disgusting).

Cornettoninja · 30/04/2014 07:48

There are few simple pleasures in life, a satisfactory shite is one of them - yanbu.

The only thing that can spoil it is getting the urge straight after a bath/shower. Irks me something rotten that does.

trikken · 30/04/2014 07:52

Yanbu at all, nowt better than a good poo.

Shockers · 30/04/2014 07:53

As someone who has been on the throne for most of the night with D&V, I am not feeling the poo love this morning.

Usually I'm a big fan.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 30/04/2014 07:55

Arf at people opening a thread that clearly explains the topic and then saying "yuck" at the details. You didn't have to click on the thread, ya know?!

OP, YANBU. A morning crap is a lovely start to the day!

MrsMaturin · 30/04/2014 07:57

I once heard a nurse describing the single most satisfying bit of nursing she got to do. It was administering suppositories to severely constipated patients. She said you get just about instant results and the patient is SO HAPPY. YANBU.

DurhamDurham · 30/04/2014 07:59

You are right in that there's nothing quite as satisfying about that. However I only have bad things to say about colonic irrigation.....it was hideous!! Never again. Within half an hour of the treatment starting I had the shakes, I felt sick and I was sweating. Apparently there is a chance you can develop flu like symptoms and I think I must have had then bad. I was meant to be meeting a friend for lunch but had to go home to bed...where I stayed for the next day and a half. I shudder when I think about it.

There were Thanks You cards behind the desk in the treatment centre so I am assuming some people must have enjoyed the experience Grin

sassysally · 30/04/2014 08:02

Not really an AIBU.Imagine if everyone posted every time they took a dump.

KikitheKitKat · 30/04/2014 08:05

YANBU, and btw there are hundreds of threads that are WAY more TMI than this one IMHO. I guess were all sensitive to different stuff but for me it's the ins and outs (literally) of people's anal unusual sex lives that bother me.

Very true, Cornetto!

Shockers · 30/04/2014 08:48

I've had CI twice and felt great afterwards!

EvaBeaversProtege · 30/04/2014 08:52

I have IBS. I can go days and days without a poo. There's little in life more satisfying than getting the urge to go and you know you won't be sitting on the toilet for hours waiting!
