Boring wedding AIBU

DP and I are having a minor disagreement over ice cream (we are having this instead of formal pudding). I will print out the thread and we will go with the majority opinion.

We are having our wedding party (not really a reception - we are getting married much earlier in the year) in a stately home-type place. At least 15 of the 100 guests are children and there will be an open alcoholic bar. In your experience:

a) It's better to hire an ice cream van because mess will be self-contained and outside.

b) It's much more cool (and cheap) to buy loads of lovely ice cream, toppings etc. and let people assemble their own indoors from an 'ice cream bar'. They can be trusted not to make a mess.

Who is U, a) or b)?

B. But I went to a wedding with a really cool retro looking ice cream van with delicious ice cream but that would be fairly pricey (it was only there as the owner was the groom's brother) but I think B would be simpler and I'd prefer it mostly.

A. Your wedding sounds great fun.

So, we are having option B at our wedding, but for everyone includnf adults. We are working on the basis the parents will supervise the DC.

If you want an option C though, you can get people who will bring and ice cream freezer to your venue and serve it. A friend did this with Ben and Jerry's and it was awesome

I'm a pudding person so would agree with Fuckwittery. Option a) would have to be very good quality icecream and option b) would be better if staffed (ie not help yourself). I wouldn't fancy getting dressed up for a wedding and having ice cream tbh, and have never been to a wedding where ice cream has been served. Nice clothes + ice cream + kids = recipe for disaster.

Would think it would be a nightmare in a stately home, with kids running around eating melting ice creams. Will the stately home even allow it?

I have been to a wedding where there was a vintage ice cream van (I think the name Betsy rings a bell) and a wedding with an 'ice cream cart' where it was served to you.
The van had a bigger impact... everyone loved it but it was also a lovely sunny day.
The cart was inside on a rainy day and tbh I would have preferred 'pudding'.
I think self service would be a riot!!!
