To have cycled into a cat

Rhododendron · 30/03/2014 21:39

Background: I'm new to cycling and not very good at it yet.

I was cycling along, fairly slowly, when a cat ran into the road ahead of me. Since it would be so much more manoeuvrable than me, I carried on, assuming it would avoid me. But it ran straight under my front wheel!

I don't think it was (hope not, anyway!) particularly hurt since it carried on running and disappeared through a gate. (I stopped.)

Was I BU? Should I have tried to avoid it?

Bit confused since I thought cats were rather more sensible than that? DH (experienced cyclist) says he's never needed to avoid a cat.

OP posts:

I already explained that the said bunny was a bully bunny and the other bunnies were pleased. I am a legend in the bunny world.

your dog looks delightful if confused and resigned to his fate.

SecretNutellaFix · 31/03/2014 18:41

OP, how can you have expected to not hit the cat when you chose not to brake?

HoneyDragon · 31/03/2014 18:44

PleaseJustGo

Keep up please

Op said she drove over a cat and was it ok

People concluded probably not for e cat and that op needs to do cycle proficiency

Lots of people hated cats, lots of other peopled hated the cat haters even more.

Some people were rude

Some people wanted to know HOW the op managed this feat in amongst the the feline haterz vs loverz war.

I tried to run my Labrador over with a bike

People concluded Labradors aren't cats

Some people got upset about animals they have hit with cars

I turned my dog into a cat

And a rabbit

Then the op came back and said she didn't run over the cat

And TheBody turned out to be The King of The Bunnies.

I really don't see why you are finding the thread hard to follow?

Pleasejustgo · 31/03/2014 18:46

I'm just confused about the part where the body said I sound like the OP. I got all the other bits! Of course.

Pleasejustgo · 31/03/2014 18:46

You forgot the bit where we turn OP into the cat though Wink

landrover · 31/03/2014 18:47

Why didn't you have a bell on your bike? Then rung it?

Pleasejustgo · 31/03/2014 18:51

I think OP was going for stealth mode. Poor moggy didn't stand a chance.

youbethemummylion · 31/03/2014 18:53

I read the first page of this thread then honeydragons summary of the thread now I am going to have neglect DS whilst I catch up on what ive missed.

thebody · 31/03/2014 19:01

honey excellent summing up, are you a judge if not you should be.

please not you I meant honey but unsure now why?

my bunny crown is sensational.

I want that cute dog.

Pleasejustgo · 31/03/2014 19:09

Ah hah!

Well as long as the bunny crown isn't made out of an actual bunny...(I'm sure dammitsue could arrange for one though).

I'd like a duck and not the tape version either!

rabbitlady · 31/03/2014 19:10

could you run over him again, so he can be re-cycled?

and no, i didn't read the thread. but i did read honeydragon's synopsis.

Pleasejustgo · 31/03/2014 19:10

Yes Honeydragon that is an excellent summary apart from the tiny omission Wink

It's not a cute dog! It's a cat (except for when it's a rabbit*)

*or seasonal changes like a reindeer

twofingerstoGideon · 31/03/2014 19:24

an animal in the wrong place is vermin.

Ah right, so all zoo animals are 'vermin' by that ridiculous definition. All animals outside their natural habitats are vermin...

You don't half see some bollocks on MN sometimes.

Impatientismymiddlename · 31/03/2014 19:24

Why haven't we got to the bit where somebody puts the cat in a wheelie bin and causes national outrage yet? This thread has been moving far too slowly and is taking a long time to get to the good bits.
Those bunny ears on Honeys dog are very fetching though, it could be a niche in the market for people who have dogs but really want rabbits.

HoneyDragon · 31/03/2014 19:29

It's not bollocks. A elephant rampaging through Harrids would be an unwanted pest up until the op runs over it

HoneyDragon · 31/03/2014 19:30

As the op officially and formally closed the thread and we're still here I think that makes us unwanted pests too.

HoneyDragon · 31/03/2014 19:31

Harrods

A bull in a china shop would be an unwanted pest.
A bull in a farmyard would be perfectly acceptable unless I can find a mumsnetter with a super turbo charged bike to run into it and swipe it to the side of the farmyard.

thebody · 31/03/2014 19:44

my crown is made of cat haters I have pulled from
bikes.

it's ver ver fetching.

now what about a snake in the grass! ha run that over op and see how that works for you!

littleballerina · 31/03/2014 19:47

Honeydragon- wish I'd just straight to your summary.

op- do you drive a car?

littleballerina · 31/03/2014 19:47

*gone straight to
