to not understand why people consider McDonalds to be a "treat"

TalkinPeace · 13/03/2014 15:22

if I want a family "treat" meal I go somewhere with fresh, favoursome food made especially for us.

Why do people take their kids somewhere that sells the lowest common denominator of food and call it a "treat" ?

I can only assume they pretend to like cricket because I don't like it therefore ANYONE who says they do is just lying to cover up their crap, barren lives.

Only things I like are acceptable you see. I am the sole arbiter of taste. All bow before me.

yes our lives are crap

if only we had full lives full of culture and good food to make our lives so complete like yours. one wonders how you have the time to post on here

I guess you need to dip your toe in occasionally to remind yourself how pitiful we all are

mijas99 · 14/03/2014 10:36

Spero - culturally impoversished because I can't tolerate highly processed music and food?

Seriously?

I like lots of modern music, but not the highly processed kind that is marketing above content. Just like McDs really

I love the Beatles and they were very mass market, but their content backed up their message

McDs is disappointing because it fails to deliver what it promises. Those gorgeous pictures of delicious burgers and firm cruchy fries are in reality a soggy disappointment

YoureAShoe · 14/03/2014 10:36

JapaneseMargaret I love your name.

ahem<
As you were.

Spero · 14/03/2014 10:37

Jesus! golf! Let's just sterilise anyone who likes sports. I would be happy.

People are a wonderful mystery. And isn't that nice? Isn't it a good thing that we are different and like different things and how lucky we are not to have to go to macDonalds if we don't want to?

But why be so scornful of the people who DO?

Mmmm, could it be because you are an eeny bit insecure about your choices

MrsCakesPremonition · 14/03/2014 10:39

McDs delivers exactly what it promises - in every outlet, in every town, any day of the week, it is the same. Which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view.

Spero · 14/03/2014 10:39

Anyone who cannot identify any popular music post the Spice Girls is definitely, irrefutably culturally impoverished.

That is nearly 20 years worth of music you claim to ignore. Why are you proud of that?

It's really sad, you are missing out on a lot.

FreudiansSlipper · 14/03/2014 10:40

I love The Beatles too Grin

highly processed music have you not listened to the 'B' side of Abbey Road, many Beatles fans are not impressed by it as really it is the work of Paul McCartney and George Martin - not The Beatles

Yes McDonald's is a treat to my autistic son. Plastic cheese slices are his favourite cheese. Squirty cream is the only cream he likes. Do I give a fuck? He also likes a big bowlful of fatty meatballs in Ikea

Derek, you poor bastard. Born too late to appreciate the only music of any merit, cast adrift in a featureless tundra of no music worth listening to, ever.

No wonder you have to dull your pain by stuffing your fat working class face with limp greasy burgers. I feel so sorry for you, but also strangely happy because I am clearly a much better person.

MrsC1966 · 14/03/2014 10:45

I with you TalkinPeace. My last McD's was in Oct 2001 in Mexico and after reading Chew On This - Everything You Don't Want to Know about Fast Food it will be my last.

MrsCakesPremonition · 14/03/2014 10:45

"their content backed up their message"

I don't understand this at all. I hadn't realised that the Beatles had a single message which their content was designed to support. I thought it was a bit more fluid and creative than that, especially as the music evolved over a decade.

KatieScarlett2833 · 14/03/2014 10:46

McDs give me chronic indigestion. Which is a crying shame as there is a 24 hr drive thru less than 5 mins from my house Hmm
I try again, hopefully, every six months or so to sample their latest McMeal, they look so good. I want to find one that doesn't leave me groaning and constipated, dammit.

mijas99 · 14/03/2014 10:46

Spero, err no. I liked Amy Winehouse for example, and the Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon before they sold out

But I can't tell you the name of the latest "Spice Girls", partly because I dont live in the UK so dont get bombarded with the marketing

MrsCakes - if McDs deliver what they promise they why do the pictures of the food on the posters/boards/adverts look nothing like what you get when you pay your money? And open up the burger when you receive it and look at the dry soggy piece of shit that is actually sat in that bun. Really, was that what you were imagining when you entered the establishment?

FreudiansSlipper · 14/03/2014 10:47
Grin

anything else you want to know about The Beatles, The Wire, The Sopranos, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra or my current obsession interest Bonnie & Clyde please ask away

if only I was as interested in my studies

curiousgeorgie · 14/03/2014 10:49

I think I'm going to get a McDonald's when I pick DD up from nursery... This thread has only served to make me really hungry Wink

And! They make it fresh for me, as I am something of a freak and ask for a big tasty with no meat in it... It's like, the best and most convenient cheese sandwich ever!

I hated the Fat Duck. Overhyped

Yes - because I've been (occasionally) eating at McDs for 35 years. So it is exactly what I expect.

Spero · 14/03/2014 10:50

That's super Mijas. I made the classic error of going by what you wrote - which was that you couldn't think of anything post Spice Girls.

But now it's clear that you like Amy Winehouse and the kings of Leon! Fine, fine choices. Clearly representative of the massive strides and innovation in the musical arena since 1997.

Sorry for sarcasm, but I can't quite believe you aren't on a wind up mission.

Spero · 14/03/2014 10:51

Derek, it's not too late for some retrospective human rights application to sue your parents for massive damages.

Mijas - where on earth do you go to get your macDonalds? That has never been my experience!
