To NOT want to tell people our 2month old pfb sleeps through the night (and has done since 3 days old)?

I just think there's no way you can win with this. You look smug no matter what, and other parents will just hate us.

I KNOW it's just sheer luck and not any amazing thing we've done.

I think we should just lie about it.

Tell no one! My dd did that till 3 months old then it all went wrong, very wrong. At 8 months it's still not right

I don't think anyone cares really, they are just coping with their own stuff.

You are very lucky, might I suggest a swap with ds so you don't feel like our missed out on all the night feeding

Dd1 did that (well from 7 weeks). At nearly 8 she still sleeps 12 hours a night.

Dd2 slept through at 21 months so it was a good job I never made out like it was something I had done!

Btw dd1 did start waking at 11 months with teething but never wanted feeding as never used to it at night.

I don't think anybody cares, they all do different things at different times. Yours might not be sleeping so well in a weeks time (although I hope she is!). I'd just tell people if they ask.

No, don't tell! I also had sleeping babies and it didn't make me popular at mums groups!

Mine are now 9, 7 and 3 and still mostly sleep well except for DC2 who sleepwalks occasionally, and sleep wees too!

DD slept through from 3 weeks but only because she had an undiagnosed tongue-tie and was exhausted from breastfeeding constantly during the day. I had to give up BF at 6 weeks because she put on next to no weight and her TT was spotted (finally) by a HV. DS on the other hand, bottle-fed, woke up twice a night like clockwork until he was weaned. He was a much more chilled little soul.

I was smug about DD till I realised she was suffering. Lesson learned for me!

No don't tell people. I remember being furious with a really nice friendly person because her weeks old baby slept from 10 pm till 8 am. My DD woke up so many times I lost count.

I don't think it was wise to let a 3 day old baby sleep through the night with out a feed at some point.

I hardly told a sole that DD was a great sleeper and anyone I did tell said it wouldn't last.

She was born early and slept 12 hours a night before her due date. Between then and now (she is 4) I have probably been awake with her during the night for less than an hour!

So it can last - enjoy it!

I have terrible sleepers and I wouldn't mind your saying that. You are not saying it is due to your superior management of your child and by implication stating that my child does not sleep because I am not dealing with it properly

You need a stock phrase. I say that as someone who has a great sleeper now but didn't sleep for almost three years (9 months of pregnancy insomnia, then a non-sleeping child). Something like, "as well as can be expected, what about..." then change the subject.

I HATED people with sleepers. Irrational scariness on my part but understandable.

Just say he is sleeping ok. Then when he isn't anymore and you are dog tired they won't remind you of what you said and the world will move on..

Just say 'not too badly - we've been lucky so far' and leave it at that. People don't really care that much, but if it makes you feel smug then just fudge the details a bit and nobody will try and swap babies with you when you're not looking...

A non-committal, but honest, 'fine, thanks' or 'she's sleeping well' would be a great response to those who ask, surely? You don't need the detail.
