Dd is 14 yesterday and I have her fb on my phone to check.

One of her friends has just posted this

I don't see why putting an xbox controller in a sluts hand makes her more appealing to guys, I don't think they get how stupid they look.

I can't comment because I am only on there to keep an eye on her but I am FURIOUS!

Talk me down?

Did she say it about your DD?

Sorry, confused!

YouTheCat · 28/12/2013 23:57

Unfortunately this is how they talk sometimes.

Dd has a bit of a bee in her bonnet about girls who pretend to be gamers to get lads to like them. However, she'd never call anyone a slut as she hates that kind of word.

She's just unfriend them and rant at me about proper gamers not having to pose. Grin

RhondaJean · 28/12/2013 23:59

No no sorry it was a boy and a general comment that came up on her (wall/timeline) not about dd but god sake...

OP posts:
McPie · 29/12/2013 00:01

It's how they talk, ignore the basic stuff and take action on the dangerous stuff. You could bring it up in a conversation but I bet she thought they were as much a tit as you did!

mollypup · 29/12/2013 00:01

I think YAB a tad U.

I'm 23 and still see girls, albeit a bit younger posing with controllers in an attempt to entice guys. It's weird!

waltermittymissus · 29/12/2013 00:01

I feel your pain.

The crap my teen nieces and nephews spew...I despair!

And the casual mysoginistic language at such a young age!

I'm not sure saying anything is the best course to take though. I'm sure your dd wouldn't thank you for it!

The most you can do is tell her it's wrong and make sure she understands why!

And maybe ask her why she's friends with the little charmer! Wink

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/12/2013 00:02

I would have raged if it was me reading that.

YADNBU to want to comment, obviously wouldn't be a good idea though!

Angry
mrsjay · 29/12/2013 00:02

my dd plays x box with her boys pals just ignore it rhonda girls are weird about this kinda thing

ChristmasStrumpet · 29/12/2013 00:04

Sadly that is the kind of chat that goes on.

Shit isnt it.

It gets worse. Some of the risque profile pics of some of DDs 14/15yo friends really draw out some seedy vile comments.

RhondaJean · 29/12/2013 00:04

I know, I wouldnt dream of actually saying anything, but ffs all I can hope is that twats like that remain virgins till death.

If it was my fb with my friends I'd go mental.

Still don't think I AIBU for WANTING to thoguht!

AgentZigzag · 29/12/2013 00:04

YABU at the same time as NBU.

I don't think you'd actually do it but from the bollocks I read on DDs newsfeed I can totally understand.

I can only get my head round it by thinking they don't properly understand what they're saying, some will never learn and grow into the wankers we've all met and hated, but being young can be used as an excuse in this case.

He's just showing off.

mrsjay · 29/12/2013 00:04

oh it was a boy he is a TUBE ignore it and seethe quietly

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/12/2013 00:05

Molly I think I have only ever seen it when it has been some American meme picture. And I'm younger than you. Confused

RhondaJean · 29/12/2013 00:05

Mrsjay - my girls a gamer and a guitarist, lots of male and female friends who are cool with it thank heavens, did your dd2 deal with her hassles?

OP posts:
mrsjay · 29/12/2013 00:06

dd was told she was a slag because she had boy pals on facebook the other day and she went to the cinema with 2 of her friends the gossip that flew would make your hair curl

AgentZigzag · 29/12/2013 00:06

Threatening to post something embarrassing on her fb has proved effective in tazering DD into doing my bidding mwahahaha

(even though she knows I wouldn't)

RhondaJean · 29/12/2013 00:07

Ffs! Girls posing to entice guys...from a woman...

OP posts:
mrsjay · 29/12/2013 00:07

aye she just tuts at them tbh although she was really upset the other week about it I had a thread which i think you were on rhonda my eldest plays electric guitar all her pals at school were boys

WilsonFrickett · 29/12/2013 00:07

Talk to your dd about language. Make sure she knows it's unacceptable and you will always support her if she chooses to call the poster out/delete them/whatever. Apart from that, there's not really much you can do. Which is Sad.

YANBU comment. Little arsehole.

RhondaJean · 29/12/2013 00:10

I know Wilson - I would have loved to have ripped through them on fb but I know I can't so I came here instead. There is some steam coming out of my ears I think!

OP posts:
Tinkertaylor1 · 29/12/2013 00:10

I'm sorry but I just don't buy all this ' it's just the way they are ' bollocks.

My dd who is 18 never spoke like this. It's disgusting. I'm sick of he sexualisation of young kids and it being deemed ok, it's not. I'd be furious.

I'd tell dd to take it down and talked to about such negative language toward other girls.

TheMaw · 29/12/2013 00:11

That's vile, I'd be so tempted to comment. I suppose you could see it as avoid oppertunity to have a chat with your daughter though, about not listening to junk like this? Just a thought. Horrible little boy.

TheMaw · 29/12/2013 00:12

*a good oppertunity. Stupid phone.
