When do you stop? When they leave home - or what?

I'm 35 and my mum still does one for me and DH as well.

At MIL this year and there's no stocking and I'm a bit gutted!

She did get up with our DS at 5.30 this morning so we could sleep in so that's a very nice Christmas present instead! although all I can hear is Peppa Pig through the wall so am wide awake anyway

ObviouslyaNC · 25/12/2013 07:06

This is the first year I won't get one as my mum says now I'm a mum I'm not allowed Xmas Sad I'm 25.

See also Easter - no egg for me anymore either apparently.

I have said it's unfair as my brother does not intend to procreate until his thirties so will get more stockings in total than me!

Tanfastic · 25/12/2013 07:08

Never! I even do my mum and dh one. My mum does me one. Stockings forever!

lowra · 25/12/2013 07:29

I'm 37 and still get a stocking fromy parents.

This thread has reinforced my faith in humanity
and given me bucket loads of ideas for the next 20 years
and I shall have mine and DH's stockings ready for next year

I went off them because my Mum's ones were always crap, but the positive has utterly shone through

Thank you MN

ok so this morning in my stocking I got from father christmas,
a box of malteasers (all for me apparently FC says I don't have to share them!!) a fabric heart, a new mini notebook for my handbag with matching pencil a smelly candle and a CD. and a tangerine (nearly forgot to mention that!)
They are perfectly me, and in contrast, perfectly DH got 2.5 tog socks, plop trumps, mensa mini puzzle and a scouts mug with lid, tangerine and bag of wasabi nuts some little post it's.

Not massively expensive and the cd I got in my stocking instead of under the tree.
the year we were at dh's parents we took stockings for all of us (as they don't do christmas let alone stockings!)

canthaveit · 25/12/2013 16:12

It is the first year I've not had a stocking, age 31. (also 1st year that we haven't been with either parents or in laws)

tinselkitty · 25/12/2013 16:16

My DB was very upset when DM and DF stopped, at the grand old age of 26! They only stopped because we both had partners and didn't feel it was fair when we were all spending Christmas together

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 25/12/2013 16:18

can'thaveit, did you and your dp not want to do one for each other?

CaptainSweatPants · 25/12/2013 16:25

I think I'll bribe my dc

If they come home they get stockings

If they stay elsewhere they don't Xmas Grin
