To think bless Holly Willoughby for her tears

Have just been watching This Morning and Holly having tears on the matter of that scumbag Ian Watkins. She was visibly upset when it was spoken about how he groomed the mothers of these young babies who he went on to abuse.
It seems that as a mother herself she could not comprehend how the mothers allowed it to go on. Hence her tears.

I don't think being upset, shocked and appalled about this is confined to mothers. An odd notion.

flipchart · 28/11/2013 11:56

I've been reading on extreme heavy metal websites postings from people who are so shocked at what he has done.

A nation is sickened quite frankly.

noddyholder · 28/11/2013 11:57

She probably knows him Fearne Cotton is her best friend

SheRaHasTheAnswer · 28/11/2013 11:58

I would also imagine that given her best friend dated him for a bit she is also reeling from shock and supporting her mate through it.

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2013 11:59

That's what I thought Noddy. More to do with Fearne than anything.

BlackbeltinBS · 28/11/2013 12:00

Shouldn't we be cursing Phillip Schofield for not crying then? After all, he's a parent too.

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2013 12:01

Holly has been in tears/close to tears over all sorts of things on TM. PS not so much.

wheretoyougonow · 28/11/2013 12:03

I agree. As a mother that is the part of the story that has upset me as I relate to it the most. I just can't comprehend how they were involved.

In no way does this take away what that man did, it's just that I don't have emotional connection. I would like to think I would die to protect my own children Hmm

Heartbrokenmum73 · 28/11/2013 12:05

Fucking hell. This is the first I've heard of any of this. I vaguely recognised the name and googled him to find out who he is.

I went to see Lost Prophets live. I had some of their music on my ipod for awhile. I feel sick now, knowing I've paid money to this man.

I hope he rots in jail. The two 'mothers' too.

Wtf is wrong with people?

SconeForAStroll · 28/11/2013 12:11

Heart, I think the rest of the band are just as shocked tbf.

He is a vile individual and I feel very very sorry for his mum, who apparently is lovely. How could you look at your child and know he would even consider doing this kind of thing?

bongobaby · 28/11/2013 12:13

Watkins is beyond vile and the two mothers are not fit to be mothers. Holly being a mother she has that nurtering feeling that clearly these mothers failed in. And why she became upset at hearing that mothers were involved in offering their own babies to that man to do this to them.

Holdthepage · 28/11/2013 12:16

Plenty of warning signs flagged up about this guy. Other fans had apparently reported him to the police & nothing was done. He was only caught on a drugs bust.

RegTheMonkey · 28/11/2013 12:17

I remember her crying a few years ago when they were interviewing a man with two small boys and whose wife had died young. He was taking about her being in hospital and you could hear Holly sniffing and gulping off camera. They stayed on Phil for the rest of the interview and didn't got back to her. Afterwards Phil said on Twitter that she had been very upset and emotional at the story.

usuallyright · 28/11/2013 12:18

holly probably knew him quite well cos he was dating her best friend for a while. That's probably added to the shock factor, not surprised she was in tears. Vile man.

Binkyridesagain · 28/11/2013 12:18

I have actually seen FB comments giving this vile man sympathy because he has fucked up his life.

After picking my chin up off the floor, I did comment that any sympathies should be towards the children and not to the perverted bastard that chose to do these vile acts.

bongobaby · 28/11/2013 12:19

An ex girlfriend of his also reported her concerns of his child abuse to the police, but was not taken seriously.

loopylouu · 28/11/2013 12:19

I feel for her doing interviews about it when he was her best friends ex. Must be hard.

Mabelene · 28/11/2013 12:22

I had to stop watching This Morning when Holly joined, can't bear her or Fearne Cotton, but really she should be able to control her emotions if she's on a programme like this, which can deal with lots of distressing topics

Heartbrokenmum73 · 28/11/2013 12:25

really she should be able to control her emotions if she's on a programme like this

OK, it's 'This Morning', not bloody Newsnight. And why should she control her emotions? It's a horrible, upsetting story. What's wrong with her getting upset? I'd be the same. And if she didn't get upset, there would be people on here calling her heartless and saying she had no soul, and 'how can she not be bothered by it as a Mother herself'. Poor bloody woman can't win!

squoosh · 28/11/2013 12:25

I agree, I'm a bit uneasy with sobbing TV presenters. It's as though they're determined to prove they can empathise more than the non sobbers.

Upcycled · 28/11/2013 12:25

Bloody hell.
I hope those children can live a normal life.

I'm not a fan of simpering princess holly... but she's a mother to young children, a friend of fearne cotton & it's an utterly repugnant subject...

bongobaby · 28/11/2013 12:32

It's a very serious subject for her to be able to control her emotions on. She is not a trained news reporter.
At some point she may of come into personal contact with this shitbag and will be horrified that he has behaved in this way.

I missed TM today but I do like Holly. Give me a real person with real emotions on TV over a stony faced person anyday.

I always thought I was quite unshockable but this case has proved me wrong.
