do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

No I have a bath 3 times a week
I am not smelly nor does my hair get very greasy

The boys have a bath / shower every day and I will be happy to have this routine for as long as they want it.

I grew up at a school where we had a wash twice a day and a bath once a week so this doesn't feel unusual to me.

LividofLondon · 28/11/2013 22:04

No because I usually only have my dog for company and he doesn't care. However, I do wash my face and undercarriage daily, and pits when required (they don't get sweaty usually). If I'm going to meet people I always shower and change my clothes though just in case of BO. Otherwise I shower every 3-4 days when my hair needs washing, or more often if I've been sweating e.g. if out running.

I've got a method for washing my undercarriage that I really want to share...sorry if TMI though. Blush OK, what you do is sit on the loo, soap the area, then rinse using water poured from a jug. It's a flippin' brilliant, simple and practical way of doing it! Grin I use this method for freshening up when necessary, like...ehem...after sex, and it means I don't have to get in the shower just for that area.

dementedma · 28/11/2013 22:20

Tell me people don't actually wear clean PJs every night?
How much bloody laundry do you do?

bellasuewow · 28/11/2013 22:25

Hester you are hilarious, I wash hair about 5 times a week and shower about 6 times a week as I am lazy at the weekend but I brisk dog walk in the mornings before work so i get sweaty and have to be smart for work. I always wear clean clothes every day and I'm not really a stinky bo producing person

bellasuewow · 28/11/2013 22:26

I love this thread It is so nosey

alemci · 28/11/2013 22:28

yes and twice if going out.

beeny · 28/11/2013 22:28

I shower every morning including hair wash.

garlictrivia · 28/11/2013 22:31

Nope. I have depression. Sometimes can't face it for five or six days. Bonkers, really, as I love showering! But bonkers I am, it's a mental illness innit?! Am feeling less-depressed atm, and have showered WITH hair wash three days running! Go me Wink

garlictrivia · 28/11/2013 22:32

In case anybody wondered, I fudge it with baby wipes while not washing. Thank god for baby wipes ...

GoMommaGo · 28/11/2013 22:44

I didn't wash /change top once for three days and two nights, ....was in hosp and had iv in my arm so I couldn't remove top, managed wriggle out of bra though and got clean pants on end of day two, hmmm felt yuk to be honest but my hair didn't get as awful as I thought so now days I try not to wash so often (used to be daily) as I think it dries it out and makes it limp and claggy with residue of hair conditioner, only my mum visited and she was very polite evening of the second day as I know I was a bit stinky by then! It's so warm in hospital at times and the plastic beds with one sheet don't help.

HesterShaw · 28/11/2013 22:44

Good luck garlic. Depression is a total fucker x

MrsRogerSterling · 28/11/2013 23:07

IdaClair I shower every morning without fail and have 2 dc. When they were babies I put them in a baby bouncer/swing in the bathroom, when they were toddlers I let them watch tv in my bed drinking their morning milk whilst I showered. Now dd1 is 6 she will alert me if dd2 who is 2 is getting into any mischief. It only takes a few minutes and I get dry/dressed in my bedroom so not unsupervised for long.

CremeEggThief · 28/11/2013 23:19

Every other day for me. I feel it makes me appreciate and feel the pleasure of being clean much more Grin.

Also, if you shower every day, don't you feel a bit icky about wearing the same clothes or nightwear again? Apart from underwear and socks, I always get two or three wears out of my clothes, even though I probably have enough to keep me going for a whole month, wearing something different every day! I would feel really annoyed if I had to do more than two clothing loads a week (excluding towels, bedding and woollens/delicates, which I always do separately), and usually, I only do one.

NigellaLaw5on · 28/11/2013 23:49

I have a bath on a Sunday whether I need it or not.

Brokensoul · 29/11/2013 00:24

Shower twice a day, morning and evening . It's a must !!!

wiltingfast · 29/11/2013 00:37

Twice a day! Seriously? Why do people feel so dirty? Clean pjs every night? Where on earth do you store it all?!

I shower once a week.

I wash my hair every 2 days.

When I have my period, I wash my bits every night.

I have a sit down job and I'm not into strenuous exercise.

Why would you shower twice a day? Aren't there other things you want to do?

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 01:02

Having grown up in a hot country showering or bathing every day was the norm. I found it very odd when I moved here to find that people used a flannel and had an all over wash with it instead of showering. I still love my nightly bath ritual with bubbles, relaxes me .

SeaSickSal · 29/11/2013 01:17

Gilmourspillow

Yes I have the hard flaky wax too. Another thing north asian's have.

antbaby1 · 29/11/2013 01:36

I shower every day and/or bathe in the evening. Hair washed only 2-3 times a week (very dry you see).

antbaby1 · 29/11/2013 01:38

What about sweat, Wilting? Even without strenuous exercise you'd start to smell after a couple of days.

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 02:07

Is this not bathing daily just a British thing?

Xochiquetzal · 29/11/2013 02:54

I have a bath most days, shower if i don't have time (I hate showers) but only wash my hair every 3-4 days or so as it goes really horrible and dry if i wash it more than that

Xochiquetzal · 29/11/2013 02:58

garlictrivia, baby wipes are like a little miracle, when i had PND I would have stunk without them!

MadameDefarge · 29/11/2013 02:59

You would freak at how little I shower/bathe. but I do strip wash every day!

Just can't afford a bath and the heating and cooking on what I have at the moment.

Amazingly enough I do not wash my hair now at all, but brush and comb twice a day, and it is in better condition than it has ever been.

oh dear!

leonardofquirm · 29/11/2013 04:07

Yes, can't function without morning shower.

Also don't feel clean without it really.
