do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

wannakillem - I understand about the dry skin.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt etc.

Ignore the frothy people who say "You are a skank if you do not have three showers a day".

I know I am clean on a shower every other day and clean clothes every day.

We are fast running out of cheap energy anyway so once again, hot water will be a luxury that many will not be able to afford.

And in fact, we may end up being forced to ration energy and employ WWII strategies.

DipMeInChocolate · 28/11/2013 21:04

I never used to but now I always have one before I get dressed that I don't feel awake until I have one.

Bodicea · 28/11/2013 21:07

I shower every morning without fail. Feel icky otherwise! Even with a 4 week old baby I haven't missed a day. Makes me feel human again.
Wash my hair every other day.

Corygal · 28/11/2013 21:10

No - vigorous bath every two days. Scientists tell us firmly we wash too much, and after stopping the daily bath, I agree - no odour, better hair, better skin.

BigToesofFrog · 28/11/2013 21:12

Actually when I think about it, I don't really have a bath every day to get clean (though my hair is greasy if I don't wash it every day). It's more that the lovely hot water and bubble bath wakes me up and makes me feel human in the morning.

Lizzylou · 28/11/2013 21:13

I shower at least once a day, twice depending on when I have exercised. But I have fine, limp hair that needs a daily wash and I am not one of those lucky sods who naturally don't smell, I would be honking to high heaven on anything less.

sunshine401 · 28/11/2013 21:15

I have not had a shower since the last time I went to the
Spa so about 4 months. My home does not have one. However I do have a bath but that would be a different question.

wannakillem · 28/11/2013 21:17

Salmotrutta I couldn't agree more.

My dermatologist has said that showering everyday is not needed for the majority of people due to washing away natural oils and good bacteria.

PrimalLass · 28/11/2013 21:17

Yes. I feel horrible without a shower. I think it is the lack of head massage from the shower water in the morning.

ShoeWhore · 28/11/2013 21:21

No I don't shower every day, I usually shower every other day with a good wash on the in between days.

BUT I do live in the countryside and the air is really clean here. When I go back to the city I feel much dirtier and shower every day.

dementedma · 28/11/2013 21:21

Don't have a shower in this very old, low water pressure flat. Have a couple of baths a week, wash hair 3 to 4 times a week.
Kids the same although dd1 washes hair every night and leaves hair in the plughole.
Don't think we are smelly!

poorbuthappy · 28/11/2013 21:23

Every day, and wash hair too.
I have the type of hair which if it isn't washed, will not do anything vaguely decent.

AntiJamDidi · 28/11/2013 21:24

Not every day normally. Every second day unless I feel particularly lazy when I occasionally leave it for a third day.

superlambanana · 28/11/2013 21:24

I shower daily in the morning and wash my hair every two days. (Except at the moment because due to horrible morning sickness I can't stand up long enough to shower until at least early afternoon)

I'd feel really horrible if I didn't, though there have been times when I haven't - eg a ridiculously early morning, camping without facilities etc - when I just wash bits, pits, feet and face. This takes as long as a shower so I may as well have the shower!

DH's family don't believe in deodorant and think it is unhealthy. At our wedding his sister sat down in front of my cousin's 2yo, who immediately began asking his mum what the smell was Hmm It doesn't always follow that if you don't use it, you don't need it...

Bonsoir · 28/11/2013 21:25

I have a bath and wash my hair every single morning. I finish off with a rinse under the shower.

Xmasbaby11 · 28/11/2013 21:28

Every day in the summer, but at the moment, no, just most days. I don't do any exercise and my job isn't physical, so I promise I don't smell.

MaeMobley · 28/11/2013 21:29

every morning.

MsJupiterJones · 28/11/2013 21:42

I hope you all wear clean pyjamas every night, it would be a travesty if you were putting your nice clean slippery bodies into discusting dirty stale nightwear that probably smells of biscuits and shit.

Oh and sheets, now how often do you change those? Eh? Eh?

IdaClair · 28/11/2013 21:50

Babies/toddlers sleep, I'm sure, but can you really get your kids to nap in the morning when they've just woken up so you can get a shower? My youngest could climb out of a playpen (or a cot) before you could say lickety-split.

For me to get even a quick bath in the morning takes at least 15 minutes to run it then 15 minutes to get in it, wash, dry and dress, then leave the house with wet hair, or add an extra 10 minutes to dry hair. I don't chain myself to my kids but there is no way I could leave my DC unsupervised for 15-25 minutes every morning whilst I do all this - hence having to do it in the evening, when they are in bed, and wondering how it seems to be such an easy thing to 'jump in the shower' when you wake up in the morning, every morning.

strawberriesandplumbs · 28/11/2013 21:51

Every morning. I really struggle to feel awake otherwise plus fine lank greasy hair that really can't survive without a daily shampoo.

Lizzylou · 28/11/2013 21:54

Oh come on, people who shower/bathe often have explained their reasons, so have people who don't. No drama.
I don't give a flying soap on a rope what others do. I shower daily for my own reasons.

I shower every morning and every night when I wash my hair.

I like to wake up with a shower, and I also like to get in to bed all clean and fresh.

I have done this while having 3DC, including newborn and 2 on the school run.

IamInvisible · 28/11/2013 21:59

I shower every morning. I 've been doing it ever since I went to secondary school in 1982.

I couldn't not shower, my hair needs washing everyday and I feel dirty if I don't. I couldn't be bothered to mess about with flannels, it's quicker to have a shower imo.

DH and the DC have at least 2 a day.

We wear clean pyjamas every night too!
