do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

I shower every day, though I may not bother if I'm not going out (which would only be on a Sunday), I also wipe myself with a baby wipe every time I go to the toilet so I know I never smell of wee or poo (no, I don't flush them down the toilet).

Beamur · 28/11/2013 19:27

I don't shower daily. Neither does my DP.
We don't care, judge away!!
DP is the least stinky man I know. I actually like the way he smells, even after exercise.

thegreylady · 28/11/2013 19:28

Not every day-maybe 3 or 4 times a week and all over wash every day.

UsedToBeNDP · 28/11/2013 19:29

Yes I do. Most days I shower in the am and bathe in the evening.

Do I expect everyone else to do the same? No.

Niue · 28/11/2013 19:31

I shower three times a day.
Once first thing. Once just before commencing my work, and again after I have finished my work. I am very very clean.

Niue · 28/11/2013 19:32

One shower at work is mandatory. The other is strongly recommended.

JRmumma · 28/11/2013 19:42

LaQueen - haha at Nanna's Afghan rug! But i know what smell you mean. Although i suspect that those people have much worse hygiene issues than not showering every day.

Yes other areas of the body shed skin and produce oils etc but arms and legs really don't smell 'bad' if you don't soap them up every 24hrs. Every other day should be sufficient for keeping them clean. If i subjected my limbs to a shower every day they would crack and bleed through dryness.

IdaClair · 28/11/2013 19:43

I have not lived in a house with a shower this millennium, so I don't shower very often, no.

I have to bathe in the evenings. The bath takes about 15 minutes to run to a decent level. I cannot bathe in the mornings, what would I do with the DC whilst I was in there?

How on earth does anyone with DC of a can't-be-left age fit in so many showers and baths every day? How does anyone have time for so much bathing?

MummytoMog · 28/11/2013 19:50

Go on Niue, tell us what you do...

Bubbles1066 · 28/11/2013 19:51

No not regularly. I only shower every day if I'm dirty or I'm getting sweaty in a heat wave. I usually shower every other day normally, sometimes every 3rd day in the depths of winter when I'm not sweaty.

Bubbles1066 · 28/11/2013 19:53

Oh if I'm on my period and it's not a shower day I just wash my bits not my whole body. I use tampons though so there's not much mess anyway.

JRmumma · 28/11/2013 20:03

FYI I'm in the bath just now and my last shower was Tuesday. Yesterday was a pits and bits at the sink jobby.

Sallyingforth · 28/11/2013 20:28

So am I the only one on MN with a bidet?

Ragwort · 28/11/2013 20:29

Ida - many babies sleep Grin, or are happy to be left in a play pen or similar. I did not chain myself to my baby/toddler - I showered/bathed (& went to the toilet Grin) in peace Smile.

MrsPear · 28/11/2013 20:31

Me and my children bath daily. I wished dh did ...

Salmotrutta · 28/11/2013 20:39

Salmotrutta · 28/11/2013 20:42

Oh, and I shower every other day due to paper dry skin and eczema.

But I wear fresh clothes every day and wash daily too... HTH

Salmotrutta · 28/11/2013 20:43

And I've bagged Gerard Butler for Round 3 "Speedy Showering" Laqueen.

Ha!

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 28/11/2013 20:48

Yes shower every day. Usually have a bath on a Sunday or Friday especially if the children are at their dads as it's peaceful and relaxing.

I have to admit I don't always want to shower or bath but I do otherwise I'd be smelly as I exercise every day as in gym or going for a run. I wash my hair every other day.

Chiggers · 28/11/2013 20:51

You know you need a shower when a dog owner chases you down the street with a poop bag over their hand.

Crowler · 28/11/2013 20:52

I love to shower, love the nice-smelling soap.

I shower every day that I leave the house.

wannakillem · 28/11/2013 20:54

I prefer being skanky then to have my skin become so dry it cracks and bleeds.

The bitchiness on here as ever is fabulous.

I shower every morning. Couldn't get dressed if I felt I had an even slightly claggy vag area. I also shower before bed if I'm having a period or on a promise.
To be honest, I don't care what guff people spout about not being smelly individuals, your undercarriage WILL smell if you don't wash it every day*

What's on a promise? :/

junkfoodaddict · 28/11/2013 21:00

I do but there might be an odd Sunday if I know we're staying in and not having visitors when I may not.
When recovering from my c section, I didn't bathe until 3 days after when I was helped out of bed. After that, I showered everyday to keep my wound clean and fresh. I get a bit paranoid about people thinking I smell.
