We had our DD christened last week. My BIL took some great photos for us of the day at our request. Today was MIL's birthday and as a gift BIL gave a framed photo of DH, DD and I...

Creepy? In what way? I'm afraid I don't really understand where you're coming from...

MonkeysInTheFog · 24/11/2013 11:03

Huh?

qazxc · 24/11/2013 11:05

In what way is it creepy?

Nancy66 · 24/11/2013 11:05

Unless you were all naked then in no way is this creepy.

ZowieBowie · 24/11/2013 11:05

He gave a photo of us to her as a gift. He hadn't mentioned anything to us about this beforehand- her opening it was the first I knew about it.

Sounds like an ideal gift?

Unless the photo had been photo-shopped to include horns or a target on your head... Then it might be a bit creepy.

sapfu · 24/11/2013 11:06

No, he took a great family photo and gave it to his mum, who presumably loves it.

I was expecting your third sentence to end with '...and as a gift BIL gave MIL a picture of me looking all sexy as I wiped a smidge of icing off my cleavage....' That would be creepy.

Sometimesiwonder · 24/11/2013 11:06

That's not creep it's lovely! Confused

Nancy66 · 24/11/2013 11:07

it's absolutely not creepy - your response to it is a bit weird though.

capsium · 24/11/2013 11:07

No I don't think it is creepy but that comes after knowing some people who are interested photography and will give photos as gift without much of a second thought.

Was it because he gave a picture of your nuclear family, which you thought was your place to do? I can see this, but because many would not consider it, just give a picture they thought the recipient would like, I think you should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Sometimesiwonder · 24/11/2013 11:07

Creepy even

Morgause · 24/11/2013 11:07

YABU. It sounds like a lovely present.

Beamur · 24/11/2013 11:07

I don't see how it's creepy either. He took some nice photos, your MIL may have seen them too and liked them, so he gave her a framed one.
I'd say thoughtful rather than creepy.

lottieandmia · 24/11/2013 11:07

No not creepy at all. Is there more to this than you have mentioned?

monkeysox · 24/11/2013 11:08

Not creepy but maybe could have told u first?

ZowieBowie · 24/11/2013 11:08

Hmm- guess my creep a meter is set too high! I just felt strange when she opened it and saw my face! I don't know- I felt a bit used??

Fakebook · 24/11/2013 11:09

Not creepy. He knows his mum would love a photo of her son and grandson on a special occasion. I don't get how it would be creepy.

ZowieBowie · 24/11/2013 11:09

She hadn't seen them before- he hadn't shown them to us either!

jerryfudd · 24/11/2013 11:09

I'm lost. Creepy? I'm off....

capsium · 24/11/2013 11:10

At least your shots are not being blasted all over a website advertising his skills.

goodtimesinbontemps · 24/11/2013 11:11

I think its a lovely idea and think its very odd you find it creepy, possibly says more about you than him?

4yoniD · 24/11/2013 11:20

I'd be a little peed off at BIL giving MIL a photo of me and my family without him being in it. Surely it's up to me to give out my family photos of my family's events? Would have been fair enough if BIL/SIL were in the photos, but otherwise .... no, ta.

PassTheSherry · 24/11/2013 11:20

I would find it slighty thoughtless and overstepping if he hasn't mentioned it to you first. Your family photos - it should be down to you if you want to give one to MIL. If the pic was of himself and his dw and kids it's more appropriate. Don't think he meant harm (you can see from this thread some people would think nothing of it). I think it's a bit bad mannered but the intention was probably good.

FunkyBoldRibena · 24/11/2013 11:20

Ok - did he give her that as her only present?

qazxc · 24/11/2013 11:22

No i wouldn't find it creepy. As you say the photos were lovely and of a family event, it sounds that a nice photo commemorating a family event in a nice frame is a lovely gift for a mother/grandmother. Maybe it's just the surprise that sent your creep meter off?
