AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

How are you enjoying your itaste Plenty? Mine didn't turn up on time for Christmas so I haven't gotten to try it yet. I'm at the in laws and am managing to vape surprisingly little.

goodasitgets · 25/12/2013 20:13

My clearo has liquid in the inner tube. I just got a mouthful Hmm
gs h2 - any ideas?!

QueenStromba · 25/12/2013 22:25

Could you have got some in when you were filling it? If not, is the top of the atomizer on properly?

goodasitgets · 25/12/2013 22:33

Nope not refilled so I know it's not me! It was ok yesterday. Put it back together again and still no luck Hmm

dontsqueezetheteabag · 25/12/2013 22:52

I quit using an e cig and would not hesitate to recommend one to every smoker in the land.

I am 100% with you OP. Smile

magimedi · 25/12/2013 23:24

YAY for e cigs!

14 months without a fag - longest I've ever gone.

And I find myself vaping less & less - certainly using less liquid per week!

Should we start a thread for those who are resolving to give up smoking for 2014?

Happy Christmas to all you other evangelical vapers!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 26/12/2013 19:31

Merry Christmas everybody!

I am loving my christmas presents Xmas Grin

I got an itaste mvp v2 which should last me 2 days between charges. It does VV and VW and has a built in ohm meter. It feels very solid and doesn't topple over on the desk. I haven't quite worked out the VW bit yet and so have had a few burnt hits, playing with the controls. It came with an iclear30 which has so many wicks it looks like a maypole inside! It also has a swivelly drip tip. I haven't tried it yet but I'm looking forward to it, although I'm not sure how I'll get on with the metal drip tip.

I also got a mini protank 2 which has a pyrex tank so I can try some spicy liquids. I had a full size protank but didn't like the metal drip tip on it. The drip tip on this is removable so I can try the pyrex and jade drip tips I got on fasttech. I'm still using the metal one it came with and oddly I'm finding it alright, even though it's identical to the protank 1 which I didn't like. It might be because it's smaller so it heats up a bit when it fires. It doesn't feel so cold and clinical anyway.

Both the above are from my epack who are very good value.

Maggie Xmas Grin at the buckfast and irn bru cocktails. I went on a camping trip once where we ended up drinking tequila and jam (was naice jam, made on the campsite from berries collected by middle class people Xmas Wink)

monica well done! Flowers

cantabile I'm jealous of your hamper, sounds lovely!

Dizzy, welcome to the thread and great posts. We really need some proper evangelism just now because what's happening in EU is rotten - if the legislation goes through quite a few of us could end up back on the fags. Clive Bates' blog is a great source of info and ideas for campaigning. I think there are some demos planned for the new year but I haven't had time to read up properly yet. Good luck going nic free.

Goodas - is it just condensation build up in the inner tube? Whenever I refill mine I clean the tube with a cotton bud (the cheap crap ones from the £ shop are best. If you have johnsons you will need to pull off some of the cotton or it won't fit) Also, if you have a drinking straw, try blowing the coil out from both ends. this is a really useful article, the gs-h2 works the same way as the models discussed here.

If it's filling up with liquid quickly, it sounds like either it hasn't got enough wick in it or it's not properly screwed in somewhere. this is a useful article, there's also a link in something I posted a page or so back about adding cotton wicks. Hope you get it sorted, it's a bit of a learning curve.

goodasitgets · 26/12/2013 20:28

I binned the clearo, think it was just a dodgy one tbh
Am vaping DY4 with a squirt of spearmint that my colleague chucked in!

DizzyZebra · 26/12/2013 22:51

Plenty - Absolutely. It amazes me that there can ever be talks of banning e cigs for being 'potentially harmful' while real cigarettes are freely sold. I've even been in shops that have legal highs on the counter... WTF. How can it be right to sell something blatantly made to mimic speed but not an e cig?

I love my e cig. I will probably continue vaping when im nicotine free just for the flavour really, As i love sweet tastes but can never eat a lot of sweets without feeling sick or dental pain (plus i have a wee bit of baby weight to loose anyway). Most people spend money on sweet treats so i dont see that as too much of an expense TBH.

My local shop is having a sale on in january so i am saving some pennies :D I might get a second VV battery as i am just loving mine. I had one before from totally wicked but it broke! Considering getting a protank but when i went in to ask the woman (Whos used both that one and the one i use) said mine is the better of the two.. I'm inclined to believe her as it is her own business so surely she wouldnt say mines better (Id already bought mine at that point so it wasnt a case of one or the other, if shed said the protank was good id have bought that there and then) and lose a sale if it wasnt.

These two threads are a brilliant source of information as ive learned a lot myself from it! My partner was impressed too haha. He vapes too since we both quit. He will sometimes have a fag when out drinking but mostly vapers and has no problem just having the one fag.
He doesnt smoke at home with a drink he vapes then but prefers lambert and butler flavoured e liquid with a drink rather than a fruity liquid.

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 17:03

I have been and bought a new tank today, its a something iclear. Anybreviews?

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 17:54

OMFG. Seriously

Put my iclear on and filled it up (its an innokin iclear 30b bottom coil).

A.MAY.ZING.

Not struck on the liquid i bought, dekang is still my favourite. Going to pop some dekang in when ive finished this.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 27/12/2013 18:16

Those tanks look good Dizzy. It's amazing the difference two coils make. What dekang flavour are you on? I have so far found their coffee and cappuccino flavours are nice. I didn't like the fruit flavours I tried, they were a bit harsh and plasticky.

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 18:59

I am very pleased with it! I think between that and my d nova i have two very firm favourites. I am thinking the iclear might suit the more subtle flavours that my d nova doesnt bring the taste our of very well.

Oh i absolutely love dekang, i havent tried any coffee flavours yet but i think i will tomorrow (there are two shops here, the one i got the iclear from doesnt do dekang).

My favourite dekangs are bubblegum, spearmint, fruit punch, sassy soda, mango and blueberry.

I can take or leave their melon one, its a bit odd, hate red cola (oh likes that). OH likes their lambert and butler one but i went off tobacco flavours after a month or so of quitting fags.

I only have sassy soda and a bit of mango in in dekang until i go tomorrow. Bloody shop was shut today hence why i went in the other one, very pleased i did though.

Diamond mist arent too bad and are slightly cheaper at four for a tenner and they have some lovely fruit flavours too.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 27/12/2013 19:35

I bought a whole load of dekang flavours from fasttech while drunk a while back. They worked out at just over £1 each. I got lots of chinese tobacco flavours, most of which were foul (if you search back in this thread and the last one I did some reviews Grin), the coffee flavours, which I like, black tea, which I think I might like in a different brand but it had the dekang je ne sais quoi about it that ruined the tobacco flavours (kind of a mouldy sock flavour in the background), some fruit flavours, including blueberry and fruit punch from your list - these were less harsh when mixed with vanilla ... I have three left to go: rose, lavendar and osmanthus fragrans (yes, I was quite pissed). I don't trust any of them in a plastic tank and I don't expect any of them to be actually nice so I'm going to bite the bullet and learn to use my dripping atomiser to test them. Probably over the christmas break and probably while drunk

My favourite flavours at the moment are hangsen ry4 with a bit of ry6 in it (this is a tobacco flavour with vanilla and caramel), dekang cappuccino, joose juice gingerbread and paradise vape cinnamon apple (but I think I cracked a plastic tank with this one)

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 19:46

Haha, i left natwest and my other account doesn't have a debit function so in safe there and cant make any rash or large purchases (id be broke if i could).

Only downside to the i clear so far is that it soaks up the liquid so well the bloody taste wont go away from the first one i put in now (i only put a bit in to try).

I have some other clearomisers i keep as spares (friends OH was very happy when he came and forgot his e cig as he lives two hours away lol) so think ill test in them. The shop i bought my d nova has them out for testing in them but the shop i went to today uses different ones and whatever they are they are awful and were burning my tongue. Its fine in my i clear so it must have been the clearos, as every single one of them were like it. Yuck.

Sassy soda is rank in the i clear. Think ill stick to that in my d nova, i clear brings it out in a sickly taste. In the d nova it tastes like cream soda and is yummy. I had to tip it out of the i clear.

Mango seems to be going ok just want the taste of the bubblegum one i tried in it to bugger off.

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 19:48

I saw the reviews lol me and oh were laughing at "i swear oh would vape a mouldy sock" as my oh is like that too, he wont waste anything even if he doesn't really like it much.

Cantabile · 27/12/2013 21:38

I've tried most of my new flavours now.

Mince Pie and Xmas Pud are very similar, nice enough, not very spicey but sweetish with a biscuity aftertaste.
Chocolate Orange is as you would expect, a little over-sweet perhaps.
Cranberry was a bit disappointing - couldn't really taste much of anything.
Pecan doesn't work too well, but I'll give it a go in another atomiser thing and see if that helps.
Maple Syrup, again a little sweet, but with an almost nutty taste, quite mild.
Gingerbread - I can see why you like it! It's a definite flavour, quite warm, gingery too. I am pleased as the actual gingerbread I got for Xmas nibbling was very disappointing!

magimedi · 27/12/2013 23:11

Reading you lot has just given me greater resolve to find at least one other flavour I like other than ecig wizard's Sherlock!

I must branch out!

TalkieToaster · 30/12/2013 00:15

'Ello!

I'm a complete noob and I read the old thread avidly. I'm an ex-smoker always tempted to take it up again. I've tried those crappy e-cigs that look like cigs and they're rubbish. I want to try vaping.

I have a £15 Amazon voucher to spend - if I post some links, could people tell me please if I'm looking at the right stuff?

TalkieToaster · 30/12/2013 00:17

This is a spare clear thingy - I need one of these for each flavour, yes?

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EZRGP80/ref=gno_cart_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3QKC6D4HC2B1D

TalkieToaster · 30/12/2013 00:18

And this for a starter kit:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H5VTZL2/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=drugstore

Sorry for posting all this in separate comments. My iPad won't 'remember' anything I paste into the comments sections, so it disappears if I go to a different tab.

DizzyZebra · 30/12/2013 00:31

Talkie i cant seem to get the first link to paste. But if its a clearomiser (the coloured bit on the ones on the second link) then no, you dont need one for each flavour, but some prefer to. I have only had a couple of flavours that linger once ive used it and put a new flavour in.

That starter kit is the one OH got and i would recommend it to someone wanting to try vaping without a big financial layout. They seem to be good quality to say how cheap they are too - we gave one to a friend and i sometimes still use OHs if i fancy a flavour but dont want to empty my others.

TalkieToaster · 30/12/2013 00:33

Yes, it's the coloured bit that you stick in your mouth. Why can't it be called a mouthpiece? That would make more sense.

Good to hear about the kit. I'm about to buy it now!

DizzyZebra · 30/12/2013 00:42

Just nipped on the PC to look lol.

Personally i detest those clearomisers. The guy in one of the shops uses them fortesting liquids and they make everything taste vile IMO.

The clearomiser that is on that starter kit is a good one IMO :) I wish id just bought one of those first like OH instead of faffing around with the more expensive totally wicked stuff as i was not really impressed with their products.

DizzyZebra · 30/12/2013 00:44

Other people may have more experience of those clearomisers though as ive only used theem in the shop so havent had a great amount of experience with those particular ones.

i noticed that there are some diamond mist e liquids on amazon and they are quite nice IMO, I buy those and dekang mainly.
