Took DD, 3, to Peppa Pig World today. OMG the queues!!!!! [whole other thread...]

Anyway, whilst in the gift shop, I was looking at all the Ty soft toys, which included Peppa and George's own cuddly toys of choice, when I overheard a mum tell her DD "You can't have a dinosaur, you are a girl"!!

WIBU to give her a Shock face, and say loudly "look, DD at these lovely dinosaurs", to which she said promptly said "Mummy I want one", and I said "yes, of course you can" Grin

Disclaimer: we were planning to buy a souvenir, I don't in general buy her whatever she says she wants!

Why would buying a child a dinosaur be unreasonable ? Hmm

rhetorician · 19/08/2013 20:35

? Don't understand the question

SaucyJack · 19/08/2013 20:36

You must know YWNBU.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 19/08/2013 20:36

Had it been a REAL dinosaur I'd have said you might have been a bit U. However a cuddly toy one is a lot less risky, so no YANBU. Grin

Fakebook · 19/08/2013 20:37

What do you want? A medal?

Sanctimummy · 19/08/2013 20:37

YANBU.

The other mum is a tit for not letting her kid have a dinosaur based on her gender.

Good for you.

mynameisslimshady · 19/08/2013 20:37

Why did you loudly say it? The other poor kid just got told no and you basically rub her face in the fact your dd can have one just because you disagree with her Mums reasoning. Confused

Pozzled · 19/08/2013 20:38

The other mum was being ridiculous.

YWNBU.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 19/08/2013 20:38

KnockMeDown · 19/08/2013 20:40

Fakebook A medal would be ok. A light hearted exchange would be better....

YWNBU. Other parent was. But I can't help but feel bad about the poor wee girl who wasn't allowed a dinosaur.

Dine-saw. RRRRR.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 19/08/2013 20:44

I MADE my DS a Mr Dinosaur...

«smug»

and yes I do understand that that isn't the point of the thread, but I am very proud of my efforts!

DrDance · 19/08/2013 20:44

my ds1 favourite toy was an inline skating barbie (although there were tears upon discovering it didn't actually skate as shown in the adverts)

Dinsosaurs are bisexual they are for everyone

DrDance · 19/08/2013 20:44

errrrrr, I think I may mean unisex, sorry!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/08/2013 20:45

I did the same in the paaaaaaand shop the other week. DD was looking at those god awful toy guns that make a horrible clacking noise when you pull the trigger. An older boy shoved her out the way and said "girls don't have guns" So of course I said "come on DD, grab that gun you want, we'll go and pay for it"

Regretted it as soon as she started playing with it, bloody thing is noisy Angry

pookamoo · 19/08/2013 20:46

lol at the bisexual dinosaurs! Grin

OP, I feel sad for the other child, but I doubt you made her mum change her mind.

SoftSheen · 19/08/2013 20:46

YANBU, as long as it was a pink one

Fakebook · 19/08/2013 20:47

Dinsosaurs are bisexual they are for everyone

Erm...no thanks!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/08/2013 20:48

"Dinsosaurs are bisexual they are for everyone"

Fucking EPIC typo/autocorrect/whatever.

Grin Grin

Indith · 19/08/2013 20:49

the other mum is an idiot.

I am the proud owner of a small girl who adores dinosaurs, reads about them,.plays with them and wants to be a paleontologists when she grows up. dinosaurs are definitely for girls!

elfycat · 19/08/2013 20:51

I was planning to knit my 2 DDs dinosaurs for Xmas gifts. Should I reconsider? Will I cause lifelong damage? Maybe if I knit them in pink?

Our garden is full of foot-long digger/ cement trucks / tipper trucks.

They're going to grow penises aren't they?

Twattybollocks · 19/08/2013 20:52

Yabu. Your dd will catch "boy" and want to do awful things like climb trees, run round bashing everything and other such uncivilised boyish activities. She may even refuse to wear a skirt. No good will come of this I warn you.

HarryTheHungryHippo · 19/08/2013 20:52

Can't stop laughing at the bisexual Dinosaurs

CockyFox · 19/08/2013 20:53

You know you are not being unreasonable.
But then you are talking to the woman who bought her daughter blue crocodile pjs.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 19/08/2013 20:53

YANBU! I bought my DD a dinosaur yesterday. She loves it. DS got one too. Why would I exclude her?
