Took DD, 3, to Peppa Pig World today. OMG the queues!!!!! [whole other thread...]

Anyway, whilst in the gift shop, I was looking at all the Ty soft toys, which included Peppa and George's own cuddly toys of choice, when I overheard a mum tell her DD "You can't have a dinosaur, you are a girl"!!

WIBU to give her a Shock face, and say loudly "look, DD at these lovely dinosaurs", to which she said promptly said "Mummy I want one", and I said "yes, of course you can" Grin

Disclaimer: we were planning to buy a souvenir, I don't in general buy her whatever she says she wants!

DD1 went to school on Book day, dressed as Harry, with a whole BUCKETFUL of dinosaursGrin. She is a very, very girly girl. Who loves dinosaurs.

My MN name is even inspired by fact it was Ds's favourite book when he was little.

OP, some people are a bit bonkers. Grin

KnockMeDown · 19/08/2013 21:00

I think she may have already caught 'boy' - she insisted on having her face painted as Spiderman the other day.

And she looked awesome Grin

I took my DD to the natural history museum recently purely because she wanted to see real dinosaurs. She came home with a packet of mini dinosaurs, a fluffy pteradon and an explorer's hat.

Didn't see any bisexual dinos on display though...

KnockMeDown · 19/08/2013 21:01

Oh, and another disclaimer - it was so noisy in there, I doubt very much the other little girl heard...

YWVU not to have bought the dinosaur for the other girl too. Grin

Or a baby dinosaur too, to play mummies and babies.

I love dinosaurs, probably more than DS does. Shock

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 19/08/2013 21:05

My 4 YO dd is obsessed with dinosaurs. My sister who lives in Oz sent her a bag stuffed full of dinosaur goodies from a dino-themed park. My dd was not impressed. Why? Because they were girlie coloured which made them not as scary and less dinosaury. :o She of course said thank you and demoted them to Barbie's pet dinosaurs.

Nombrechanger · 19/08/2013 21:07

Are you going to let Gluezilla borrow it for her special "Running in Terror From T-Rex" wedding photo?

I've heard she needs some help...

WafflyVersatile · 19/08/2013 21:10

Dinosaurs are evidently all hermaphrodites who self-identify as male homosexuals.

I saw something about some dinosaur book and they all had boys names....

cafecito · 19/08/2013 21:11

Grin at bisexual dinosaurs

BisexualDinosaurs · 19/08/2013 21:11

Couldn't help it Grin

YANBU, but you really shouldn't comment so loudly on other people!

TrinityRhino · 19/08/2013 21:13

bisexual dinosaurs Grin

I caught 'boy' when I was your DD's age. I have dinosaur pjs, backpack, wallet, shoes. I love dinosaurs. went through a train dismantling phase and a tree climbing, splat gun, plane flying phase too. DS, however, likes pink sparkly things. which is great, as I get to pinch his dinosaurs Grin

SisterMatic · 19/08/2013 21:16

Hahaha bisexual dinosaur...thanks for making me laugh I needed that

5madthings · 19/08/2013 21:17

Yanbu, my dd is 2.5 and obsessed with dinosaurs, loves them.

I bought her one in john lewis, a schleich one to add to her collection, she was holding it whilst we queued up and a man in front of her started talking to her, all lovely and then he saw she had a dinosaur and said to her 'what is your mummy doing buying you a dinosaur, you are too pretty to play with a dinosaur'!!! Angry I know he was just trying to make conversation but ffs.

AnotherStitchInTime · 19/08/2013 21:19

Bisexual dinosaurs Grin

Well if you are unreasonable then I must be too. My two dd's share a bedroom painted light blue with dinosaur stickers on the wall. They both play with plastic dinosaurs and dd2's (17 months) favourite phrase is "dine-saw RRRARRR".

nickelbabe · 19/08/2013 21:26

dd doesn't have a dinosaur room because I had to decide between space and dinosaurs. space won because it depicted night better.

but I agonised over that.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 19/08/2013 21:31

YABU. It was not a real dinosaur so ner ner! Grin

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 19/08/2013 21:33

Grin bisexual dinosaurs!

YANBU. I have 2 DDs (and DSs) and they are very different, my eldest is animal and dinosaur mad, outdoorsy and loves trains and planes, the other prefers being quiet and making her toys have parties together, but that's their own personalities. I don't see why, just because of their gender, I should stop them from liking this or that.

gallicgirl · 19/08/2013 21:35

Perhaps dinosaurs are extinct because they're bisexual? Should have paid more attention to making eggs.
Grin

MsGazelle · 19/08/2013 21:36

Every night I read dinosaur books to my 2.5 year old girl. She bounced up and down with glee when we went to the Natural History Museum. And her face when she saw these pjs, well it was priceless: www.avaandluc.com/collections/pyjamas/products/t-rex-print-pyjamas shame the pjs weren't mind.

Dinosaurs are brilliant. Rrrrrrr.

Yanbu but your whole attempt at publicly displaying your perceived radical liberalism Hmm was cringey
