To expect dh to make ds2 some slippers?

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:34

He's onto making his second pair of slippers. Ds2 is an adult size 4 and I can't find boys slippers in that size anywhere. He stubbed his toe on the vacuum cleaner two days ago and the weather will be getting colder soon.

Instead, dh is compulsively making himself slippers Hmm

It's not on is it?

Couldn't you just buy adult size 4 slippers for him? Or am I missing something?

AgentZigzag · 16/08/2013 21:41

So long as they're not a la Ed Gein, it'd depend on how long it takes him to make them.

AgentZigzag · 16/08/2013 21:43

Posted too soon there, if it only takes him a week and your DS has been without for a while then he could wait couldn't he?

If it'd take him until Christmas, he should do DSs first, although they'd make for one present less to get Grin

EvaM · 16/08/2013 21:44

Did you bother to ask him?

FriskyHenderson · 16/08/2013 21:45

Why not cut the pieces out ready for DH to sew tomorrow, leave them out on the side overnight and see what happens?

BrokenSunglasses · 16/08/2013 21:46

How do you make slippers!?

That sounds cool.

But you could just buy your child some slippers if him not having any is an issue.

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:47

You can't seem to get adult size 4 slippers for a boy. I can only find 2 or 3. Size 4's seem to be for females only. Adult male slippers don't start until size 6. It's all very unsatisfactory.

Dh makes nice slippers out of leather.

Grin frisky

I've seen some nice moulds you can (wet, I think) felt around. They do look a bit like pixie shoes, however.

Is he a cobbler?

TimeofChange · 16/08/2013 21:47

Maybe DS should look where he is going.
Sorry, that was a bit mean.

It's August not January.

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:47

I've asked him repeatedly to make slippers for ds2, but he doesn't.

OP posts:
Elsiequadrille · 16/08/2013 21:48

Yanbu. He should delay making his own on account of the stubbed toe.

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:48

No, not a cobbler, he just likes making stuff. He made some shoes from a kit you can buy over the internet.

Tesco do size four boys' slippers, I bought some for my son a month or so ago.

Igloofornow · 16/08/2013 21:52

hidden you have some interesting worries Grin

Cravingdairy · 16/08/2013 21:52

Surely there must be some women's slippers out there that would be suitable? I would have thought M&S for example would have plain ones in dark colours. If your son's feet are still growing I wouldn't personally want to spend money on leather when they might not fit for long.

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:53

Do they? That would be great. I'll make sure I check the store out. I'd desperate for slippers for him. If I can't get any, and dh won't make him some, I'll have to stick him in plimsoles.

OP posts:
IsItMeOr · 16/08/2013 21:54

Or you could buy him some of these?

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:55

Oh, no dh doesn't buy the leather. He uses leather that he has stored someplace. He produces stuff and makes things. He also does rugs. I think the leather is from a leather rucksack that he's taken to bits or something.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/08/2013 21:55

Is your Dh called Gepetto?

Does your kid have a suspiciously long nose occasionally?

Disclaimer for rudeness: no one makes fucking slippers!

Slippers are a serious business Igloofornow Grin

dh is a bit weird ConfusedGrin

Cravingdairy · 16/08/2013 21:56

I don't mean that I think fluffy pink slippers are unsuitable for a boy!

hiddenhome · 16/08/2013 21:58

No, he wouldn't wear pink, fluffy ones. The only women's slippers in the shop seem to have roses or bows on.

OP posts:
IsItMeOr · 16/08/2013 21:58

And M&S have a number of styles of boys' slippers which go up to adult size 4 and beyond here.

So I have to conclude YABU not to Google this :)
