What would you pay for this?

Our menu at work reads

Curry dishes - £5
(Includes boiled rice or chips - fried rice 30p extra)

Chips- £1
Fried rice £2

If, for example, you ordered a chicken curry, with chips and fried rice, how much would you expect to pay?

£5.30

But you're going to tell us you get charged £7?

chickensaladagain · 24/07/2013 23:46

I'd say £7 -chips included but you pay extra for a portion of rice

No way would I pay that for a canteen meal

JerseySpud · 24/07/2013 23:47

£5.30?

but i am a bit dense tonight...

VelvetSpoon · 24/07/2013 23:47

£5.30

Rummikub · 24/07/2013 23:47

£5.30

YouTheCat · 24/07/2013 23:48

Oh right, have re-read. Yes £7 then, if you have chips and fried rice.

Newrowsees · 24/07/2013 23:48

£6.30

Callmedreckly · 24/07/2013 23:48

£5.30

MrsBertMacklin · 24/07/2013 23:48

£6.30

£5.30 for the curry and rice with 30 pence tacked on for fried rice. Then chips on top.

TylerHopkins · 24/07/2013 23:49

£7

MagzFarqharson · 24/07/2013 23:49

£7 here too, does seem a bit steep though.

lborolass · 24/07/2013 23:49

I'd say you could argue £6.30 - £5.30 for the curry and fried rice plus an extra £1 for the chips. Did you get charged £7.30?

Dayshiftdoris · 24/07/2013 23:49

£6.30

The dish is £5 with the rice, add 30p for fried rice then £1 for chips

£6.30 Smile

BuildMeUpButtercup · 24/07/2013 23:50

I'd pay up to £5. Definitely no more than that though!!

D0oinMeCleanin · 24/07/2013 23:50

It's where I work at a takeaway, not my canteen and but it's bloody expensive I admit.

I charged £6.30 because it works out cheaper to put the fried rice with the curry and then pay for the chips.

I spent 15 minutes explaining why it wasn't £5.30 and he still didn't get it. After repeating myself for 15 minutes he demanded his money back and is complaining to my manager in the morning and reporting us to trading standards and he's going to have me fired Hmm

He was sober.

My head hurts. What's the answer?

Floralnomad · 24/07/2013 23:51

£6.30

DespicableWee · 24/07/2013 23:51

I would say £6:30 if you are paying the 30p extra charge for the fried rice with the curry, then the chips as an extra portion.

£7 if the chips are classed as being the side and the rice the extra. Im guessing you were charged £5 for the curry, then £3 for the rice and chips so paid £8 total as it all went through separately?

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 24/07/2013 23:51

£6.30 - fried rice as my meal option and then chips as a side order

But I'm guessing unless you specifically say it like that you get charged £7?

Rummikub · 24/07/2013 23:51

Oops, just saw answer. Yeah makes sense.

YouTheCat · 24/07/2013 23:52

What an idiot. You were doing him a favour. Most places would have charged him £7.

£5 for curry and chips and an extra £2 for the fried rice.

£5.30

TylerHopkins · 24/07/2013 23:52

I've changed my mind. I reckon £5.30. The £2 portion of fried rice is probably larger than the portion you receive as part of the curry deal.

chubbychipmonk · 24/07/2013 23:53

I'm lost!
