Pardon?

PollyIndia · 06/07/2013 17:50

Ha! Couldn't agree more. Though I was so excited pre Glastonbury, I found myself nearly saying 3 more sleeps. It's insidious and for that reason should be banned. YANBU.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/07/2013 17:51

YANBU

Waimea · 06/07/2013 17:51

Yabu

valiumredhead · 06/07/2013 17:51

Don't be such a killjoy!

bootsycollins · 06/07/2013 17:51

No more sleeps till YABU! Grin

SelectAUserName · 06/07/2013 17:52

I wondered where this had come from. Some of my FB friends use it - "X sleeps to holiday" or similar. I know what they mean but it seems a bit twee, like something a four-year-old would say in the run-up to Christmas.

GilmoursPillow · 06/07/2013 17:53

Dud?

Sallystyle · 06/07/2013 17:54

I use it.

Don't know why though.

saintmerryweather · 06/07/2013 17:55

fine for children but adults who say it are twats.

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 06/07/2013 17:55

I think it's twee and wouldn't use it. But when I see it written down, I smile, and I couldn't care less. It's a nice phrase- one I personally wouldn't use, but it's just another way of saying the same thing, surely?

BlameClaimProfit · 06/07/2013 17:55

I blame the BBC dumbing down the population at large over the years. Every documentary they produce contains information available to the public for years prior presented in a fashion so simplified that nobody with an IQ over 75 could fail to understand.

Callmedreckly · 06/07/2013 17:57

YABU

AKissIsNotAContract · 06/07/2013 17:57

YANBU, they are the same kind of people who say hollibobs.

Tee2072 · 06/07/2013 17:58

I guess I'm a twat then. And I'm okay with that.

3 sleeps to London, 7 to San Francisco.

NinaHeart · 06/07/2013 17:58

It's rubbish in all contexts except maybe in the Muppet Christmas Carol.

Tee2072 · 06/07/2013 17:59

I never say hollibobs.

Flobbadobs · 06/07/2013 17:59

I use it with younger children and do my best to keep it out of everyday language Grin
Kind of like being sleep deprived and rocking a loaf of bread to sleep in Sainsburys, some aspects of being with children creep over into everyday life. Couldn't judge people for it though.

GilmoursPillow · 06/07/2013 18:00

Oooh, Tee, I have 3 sleeps until London too.

Or I suppose I should say 74 hours

valiumredhead · 06/07/2013 18:00

I've never heard anyone say holibobs apart from on MN.

Futterby · 06/07/2013 18:02

YANBU! Fine for kids but adults saying it makes me stabby quite irritated.

GilmoursPillow · 06/07/2013 18:03

I have, and jollibobs too.

Tee2072 · 06/07/2013 18:04

I am enjoying irritating you all.

I even have a "how many sleeps to Christmas" app. Would you like me to check it?

GilmoursPillow · 06/07/2013 18:05

Oooh yes, post a link too!

monicalewinski · 06/07/2013 18:05

4 sleeps till my husband gets back and I can hand him the children and fuck off to outer Mongolia for a month! (He's been away for months). Sleeps is fine! YABU!! (Draw the line at holibobs though).
