I don't like wearing bras. when I get home ( back from school run etc) I always take them off.
especially when I was pg (every time) I had to take them off quickly at odd locations, when I felt sick - although normally in the car,

but I either can't take my t-shirt or top off coz II was/am in public or just can't be bothered.

so I do it the "Flasdance" way ever since I saw the film. it's quicker.

is it just me or others do this too?

Ps I don't have any living grandparents. That was just a joke. Seriously though I'm in my early thirties and I want to wear NICE underwear now :-)

Birdsgottafly · 24/06/2013 21:47

So i'm the only one that was wondering why everyone hasn't done this on holiday, during the evening entertainment.

In your groups you have to nominate someone to go on stage, they have to collect objects, handbag, lipstick etc, the last one is a bra ( i've normally unhooked in advance when i recognise the game), you whip it off (flash dance style), then run on the stage to dress your male partner in it?

Classy bird, me.

amazingmumof6 · 24/06/2013 22:28

Knickers are ok - just the bra fitting that sucks Shock

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/06/2013 23:00

Yes i can indeed do this. I'm a front hooker and wearing the same size bra as when i was 10yrs younger and at LEAST 2stone lighter!! So help required pkease.....tightish underboob measurement 32......loosish leanibg forward around boobs measure 39.....

Thanks all! (secretly hopes i'm wearing the right size as have about 50lovely bras....)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/06/2013 23:01

I can't do up at the back either, never have. I try from time to time but always go back to front hook and spin. My bras fit perfectly so the spin is more of a hoick but it works for me.

Very rarely take my bra off when fully dressed but hsve bern known to do the sleeve thing. Never seen Flashdance, despite being a teenager in the 80s or whenever it was.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/06/2013 23:05

nottalottaAre you wearing something close to a 32F? If not, shopping time Smile

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/06/2013 23:09

Oh god. Really really not.

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/06/2013 23:10

F???!?!?!? Bloody F?!?!? Seriously? I have teeny boobs!

AnyFucker · 24/06/2013 23:13

I wore a 34B for 30years !

Until SC sorted me out. I am actually a 32D/DD. Go me !! (and I would consider myself small in the boobage dept)

IMO, M+S are shit at fitting but the bras are good quality once you get your true size.

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/06/2013 23:18

Ok so off to m&s to try on a 32f tomorrow. I think i'll be laughed out of the changing rooms but will have a go!

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/06/2013 23:19

On a 32, an F really isn't huge. You know all those stories you see in the papers saying x celebrity is "a 34DD" and celebrity has boobs like melons? They're all bollocks. Katie Price is probably about a 26 or 28JJ at least. Christina Hendricks is estimated at about a 32HH - possibly bigger cup IME.

I saw a particularly funny one recently claiming Nicole Sherzinger is a 36C. Nicole would be able to put a 36 on, wrap the strap round her and make the damn thing front fastening.

Cup size is relative to back size, not absolute. An f on a 28 is a LOT smaller than an F on a 34 for example.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/06/2013 23:20

Follow the advice here so you know what to look for when you are trying. M&S bras aren't the best and sizing can be a little off so if you have a department store like debenhams or john lewis maybe try there too.

amazingmumof6 · 25/06/2013 00:04

stat how do you know so much about bra stuff?

are you a bratender?Grin

I'm seriously impressed!

Just a slightly sad enthusiast with big norks who had to work it out cos nowhere around here had a clue for a long time! There are a few of us on here (see all the bra intervention threads that seem to fill really fast) - I've seen SorrelForbes and RubberBullets upthread for example. AnyFucker is a former convert and now a fully fledged tit monitor Wink

Bunbaker · 25/06/2013 06:25

"M+S are shit at fitting but the bras are good quality once you get your true size."

I agree. I went from a 32A to a 32B thanks to the brilliant advice on here and all but one of my bras are from M and S as they offer a wide range for the less well endowed.

plainjaney · 25/06/2013 08:11

StatisticallyChallenged I'm a 14 top 12 bottom now from a 20 top 16/18 bottom. Not actually been measured since I was at my biggest. As I say I just dropped a back size instead.

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/06/2013 08:15

Definitely worth whipping out the measuring tape then plainjaney - averages from the refits on here seem to suggest most 12-14s are somewhere around a 30 or 32 back. Some more, some less obviously as it depends on shape too: the apples tend to have bigger back sizes than their hourglass dress size sharers for example

RubberBullets · 25/06/2013 09:03

I was wearing 42D but after these lovely threads am now wearing 36K. I've always worn non wired but plan to be brave and try underwired when I finish bf. That won't be for a long time yet though as dd is only 13m

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/06/2013 09:10

I had a fitting at Bravissimon last year and bought a couple of bras there, which were very comfy except for the straps slipping a bit much, they were set slightly too far out on the cups I think. Anyway I went to M&S recently and tried on loads in my Bravissimo size and found some that fitted perfectly, so comfy and I hardly know I am wearing them. I'm 36E, prior to the Bravissimo I had been in 38C measured by M&S a few years ago.

I made note of how I put it on this morning, wasn't sure yesterday exactly what it is that I do, being a front hooker. I fasten it at the fron at waist level then spin as it is nice and loose there before bringing it up popping them in and giving a good scoop to each side. The scooping makes a big difference.

RubberBullets · 25/06/2013 09:13

Yes, scooping is a must.

CalamityKate · 25/06/2013 15:43

Can I ask - what about women who have long dangly boobs? Surely if they do the "lean forward and measure" thing they'll end up with a too big cup size and have to sort of fold them up?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/06/2013 15:55

Mine are a bit of the dangly persuasion Kate - the scooping really helps to get them placed properly in the cups. Not sure about getting the measurement right in the first place though, I tried the lean forward and measure thing a few months ago and it gave the same result as the Bravissimo fitter doing it by eye and has led to me getting very comfy bras.

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/06/2013 16:31

the lean forward is normally pretty close but any measuring tape result for cup size is only ever a start point.

SnoopyLovesYou · 25/06/2013 16:45

Where do you go to get a Bravissimo fitting?
