to ask if you do "Flashdance bra removal"?

I don't like wearing bras. when I get home ( back from school run etc) I always take them off.
especially when I was pg (every time) I had to take them off quickly at odd locations, when I felt sick - although normally in the car,

but I either can't take my t-shirt or top off coz II was/am in public or just can't be bothered.

so I do it the "Flasdance" way ever since I saw the film. it's quicker.


is it just me or others do this too?

I've been to my local Bravissimo shop which I didn't know existed

They swapped the bra top no problem - 32 D, and I tried several bras and bought two, one DD and one E! One doesn't even have any padding which I don't need for size enhancement, more for consistency disguise IYKWIM!
Not too bad for my age but did BF three babies 25 years ago.
They were very helpful and lovely, but did say I must only ever handwash bras not likely to happen which I will be doing religiously

FryOneFatManic It's almost certainly down to a combination of badly fitting bras and the fact that (apparently) many clothes are made to accommodate a B cup (whatever that is!).

Slightly changing the subject, but has anyone seen the new M&S shirt that's supposed to eliminate the problem of shirts gaping between buttons?

I can't help but wonder if the problem is actually due to poorly fitting bras, as I know my shirts fitted much, much better once I got my bra size sorted out.

Yes FryOne different shapes suit different boobs. I don't suit plunge styles but balcony styles work well for me. There is lots of good advice on different styles from marriednotdead on the bra threads.

FryOneFatManic Yes, that's totally correct. I really struggle with plunge styles but love balconettes. Full cups aren't great on me either.

11 years with dp and he's still amazed when I take my bra off without removing my top

I have an old rib injury which means even the best fitting bra hurts after a few hours. And my current bra is a Tesco one so not well fitting at all. I do have others but the cup sizes are wrong on all of them (years of bfing which ended last year and they've been shrinking ever since)

Oh, am I right in thinking that different styles of bra might fit differently? I have noticed that balcony styled bras don't fit comfortably but the same size bra in another style might well fit lovely.

I was measured for maternity bras in M&S about 13 years ago. Got measured at 46E.

I am only a little lighter than I was then, and using the advice on here, I am currently wearing a 40G bra. Underwired, something I could never have comfortably worn if the bra was 46E.

DD is 13 and is now wearing bras, so I do check her out and have shown her how to measure herself. I have pointed out the M&S method isn't worth it, so hopefully she'll not ever have the problem of ill-fitting bras.

But I can do the Flashdance bra removal thing.

Don't use online calculators. I've never come across one that didn't do the adding 4 inches to the backsize thing, which is incorrect. If your ribcage measures 34, then a 34 band is probably what you are.

Plain I'm going to guess at 34FF for you... post your dangle measurement here and we'll give you a good idea!

Bewitched. On those measurements I would suggest a 32FF but it sounds like you might need to tweak the size in this particular top.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge about this type of top will be along with more advice.

I've had a major fail !

I ordered a strappy bra top from Bravissimo in 32G and it is absolutely massive cups but tight round the ribcage.

I measured 32ins round ribs and 40ins round boobage when dangling bent over!

What have I done wrong?

I havent had chance to go yet, but I got DH to measure me and used an online calculator.

Bearing in mine I'm currently wearing a 36DD which I can spin around and it slips off my shoulders, my rib cage measures 34". The calculator told me I should be wearing 38D.

With that I gave up and resigned myself to finding a decent independent shop when things are a bit less chaotic.

CalamityKate it sounds like a style issue. I get wrinkly lace on some of my bras, the Cleo Juna is a good example. A size down is definitely too small though.

Sorry, late to the party...! I am not a front hooker This is mainly to do with realising a t the age of about 16, that the underwire in my bra is larger than the depth of my rib cage, so as I swivel, my body gets caught in the cup!
I get as many faces doing the bra up as I do taking it off flashdance style (from under front of shirt, not through sleeve - as pp mentioned, the wires don't fit through a sleeve!) though that might be as much from the 6inch sag than any acrobatic contortionism...!
Also, I tried a face to face bra intervention years ago (slightly drunk). Beautiful lady, slightly large all over (as am I, definitely not judging) who had 4 boobs, all residing somewhere around her belly button. After I suggested she might be wearing the wrong sized bra, she accused me of calling her fat (nope!) and said that women who've had boob jobs just to get a man don't understand how uncomfortable it is for women who naturally have really big boobs. Well, I must've had that boob job under some SERIOUS anaesthetic then, cos I remember nothing about it!!

And anyone that needs to remove their bra at the first opportunity is wearing the wrong bra. They should make you more comfortable, not less.

even bras in the correct size will differ wildly according to style.

Im a 30G and tried on 8 bras in debenhams in my size the other day with all fitting wildly differently, and none correctly.

The only bras that seem to be reasonably consistent and all true to size are freya

Sorrel - I always get the 4 boob effect! In some bras I spend all my time separating the girls. If I don't, they end up rammed together with my nipples almost hanging out!

Got a 34F yesterday and it was far better except the lace on the top of the cup was a bit baggy. If I bought the FF (there wasn't one) surely it would have been even baggier?
