No! When we got DD 7 & DS 5 them for Christmas DH & I got one for us to share. He sometimes takes it to the station (much quicker than wallking) and I use it to take DD to brownies. Is fun and quick. Also means a pop to the shops is wayyyy quicker. Do it!

Oh no, UANBU I would love one too. As I'm only 4ft 11 tall if I went fast enough so that no one could see my wrinkles though my fat arse might give me away they might think I was a child!

There's a woman who lives near us who scooters to school and back with her 3 children. It's hilarious watching them scoot past us almost every morning. I wouldn't use one myself.

There is a mum near here who has one and while I can see that it's a quick and fun way to get around I can't help thinking she looks a bit of a tit whenever I see herSmile

When I think no-one is looking I get out DSD's scooter and join DD for a scoot up the road - she thinks it's hilarious and I can take the neighbours disapproving. (But I have lovely neighbours and they are more likely to want a go themselves..)
YANBU go for it. Carpe diem and all that.

YABU. However quick or 'fun' it is you will look ridiculous! I've seen quite a few adults zooming along to work and I find it really hard not to burst out laughing in their face as they race along the pavement.

Can you imagine a grown adult bouncing along the pavement on a space hopper? Or skipping to the shops?

I got my DH one for his birthday. It's great for his commuting, but the real reason is to keep up with the kids when they're on theirs.

I sometimes use it too....so much fun.

And I don't care if people think I look like a tit. I stopped worrying about what other people thought a long time ago.

At least I'm having fun and haven't forgotten the joy that simple scooting with the kids can bring. Smile

I want one too. Which one are you going to get?

Oooo.... I would love to space hopper down the pavement!
And I often skip with my DC because they want me to.

No harm in it and keeps you young.....

Off to tie my hair in pigtails and find the space hopper in the loft.....Grin

Why does anyone care what they look like to others???

Just wanted to say that my eldest ds has the adult kick board micro scooter and I wouldn't recomend it. It is extremely heavy and was designed for teenagers who do tricks on ramps and things. We got it when he outgrew the little blue ones as at the time they had not come out with the maxi one. If you are going to get one as an adult, go for one of the two wheeled micro scooters which are much lighter weight and most of them fold too.

skygirls Oh I don't just mean ordinary skipping, I mean skipping along the street with an actual skipping rope. I bet you don't do that?

Good for you, OP.

I would love to scoot, skip or space-hop to places but I fear I would be sectioned. Might just pave over our garden instead. The DC never go on the grass and all it does it fecking grow...

I would never use the kids ones - no, not me.

No Faries I don't skip with a rope down the street as

  1. I don't have a skipping rope
  2. I'd probably get tangled, fall flat on my face and have to call out plaintively for help.
  3. I'd hit someone in the face with the rope and be done for assault.....

Get the razor scooter with ted wheels off amazon. Micoscooter too heavy and expensive.

When they first became fashionable in the very late 90's, wasn't there are craze for adults using them, especially the mums who had just taken their children to school, who would then ride one back home?

I got one as an adult, and I like rollerblades too!
