Before i get a back lash, i know summer is lovely and i shouldnt be so grumpy about it but.....

My sandals always rub my feet, have tried different styles etc (My winter boots never rub)

By mid morning my face is greasy/sweaty, i have tried different types of face creams for said problem (this rarely happens in winter)

I have to keep on top of foot filing and nail varnish, cant have 'ugly' feet ;) (in winter dont have to worry so much as no ones sees my feet apart from me and dh)

I have to have 2 showers everyday(in winter just the one in the morning)

I could go on but, a) i dont want to bore you more than i have and
b) i hope you get my point!

I am older, and as I used to love the heat, sun bathing and gardening- it is all now too much for me Sad. Love not having to use the gas heating and the longer hours of daylightSmile. But don't like how the weeds grow rampantly and all that bending down, crouching/getting up doing the weeding is agony.
Still like the pruning at eye level, but then have to bend down again and pick it all up Love my climbing roses on arches which are at last bloomingSmile

Don't wear make-up as not worth it anymore

and people haning around later and later as the evenings are lighter, irritating DC (whos trying in vain to sleep anyway), people who think whoever theyre talking to is deaf as they shout all the time, throwing bottles and cans in the street, and just last night TWO- yes- TWO seperate domestics in the street.

oh, the winter when people stay indoors and keep it all to themselves.....

Annakin, sorry you're feeling all that, i used to live in Southern Spain and it was toirture then, but i find england worse as its muggy and were nowhere near a body of water!

digerd · 20/06/2013 17:15

Loved Singapore in July in 1989. Fresh air, not himid , so clean
and I could go out in it. Unlike Bankok where I felt whoozy from the humidity even at night and had to stay in the air-conditioned places.

Tanith · 20/06/2013 17:23

This "Summer" you speak of...

Where is it? Confused

marjproops · 20/06/2013 17:26

Tanith

ITS THE MUGGINESS!!!!!

just cos you cant see the sun, where we live its cloudy and gloomy yet its so muggy.

my hair looks like jon Bonjovis in the 80's with the dampy mugginess and heat.

uuuuurghhh! i want some breeze and chilly to put a cardi on, not aweating enough buckets to put a fire out!

digerd · 20/06/2013 18:45

I've just remembered another thing. The flying biting insects that love me. I must be indoors with doors closed before dusk - just like the vampires that rise from their coffins when the sun goes down, they bite my ankles and other places even through my clothes. I must be very tasty. Confused The constant itching drives me mad and last summer I got an allergy from one of them and my whole leg swelled upShock

ARealDame · 20/06/2013 18:47

Well, its gone now, so problem solved Grin!

Tanith · 20/06/2013 19:12

Have you seen the weather report for the weekend, Marj? Wink

marjproops · 20/06/2013 19:16

no, plesae tell me its gonna be cool and cloudy!!

ill be nice and not pray for rain, Smilebut as long as its cool and cloudy!!!!

Bunbaker · 20/06/2013 20:38

Well you miserable lot. You have now got what you wished for. It is pouring down here and miserable Sad

digerd · 20/06/2013 20:42

I walked my dog at 6pm in my fleece long jacket with a lightweight thermal longsleeved top underneath and leggings. The jacket I wore when it was much colder, despite it being 22 degrees here in SE.
It also poured with rain between 2-2.45 pm, so I'm pleased as needed it for the garden. Smile

I need some sun otherwise it is so dark in my houseSad

digerd · 20/06/2013 20:44

ps.
Just looked to see if raining and the sky is now blue. 20 degrees atrm.

GameSetAndMatch · 30/06/2013 18:54

where we are its like the carribean. its far too hot. its much cooler in the house and thats where we've been all day. went outside to throw some rubbish and the heat hit like anything!

hate it. we had to go out first thing and by the time we got back (we were only out an hour and couldnt take it any more) we were grumpy, sweaty, sticky, icky, and all the other dwarves Grin. straight in the shower, hate hate hate the summer.

DCs with heat rash and crying caouse cant sleep, no deodorant in the world works, thighs rubbing (me, not DCs!), I cant sleep either, trying to keep everything shut anyway to stop flies and things coming in, oh i could go on.

as soon as the Tennis Wimbledons finished bring back the cooler weather.

not forgetting late/all night parties and BBQs and loud loud loud sounds they call music.

Gaaaah!

JerseySpud · 30/06/2013 19:12

I hate summer. And i live in Jersey. We had a family bbq yesterday an i got burnt even with sunscreen on. I hate the sweating, the school holidays because the little shits on our estate are loose all day everyday. I hate sandals, much prefer my boots. and i love my jumpers too much :(

GameSetAndMatch · 30/06/2013 19:17

Im soooo with you, Jersey.

I hate the holidays too and weekends with kids hanging about all day. dont they have famous 5 adventures any more these days? just hanging around with skaeteboards or something all day? (mind you it happens during term time weeks too round here). love it when it rains all night.

okay, if I could control the weather I would be fair and give the sun lovers maybe 6-7 hours, but come 8pm then it would rain all night, and stop again the next day at school run time for a few hours again Grin

luxemburgerli · 30/06/2013 19:44

Summer hater here too. We usually have communal lunches at work and people always try to convince me to sit outside in the glaring sun. it's 30ËšC here, no bloody thanks!!

GameSetAndMatch · 30/06/2013 19:49

sitting outside to eat in the sun with flies trying to get your food, sometimes succeeding and being sick on it -as flies do-, how can people sit and relax fanning away flying insects anyway?

and it IS cooler inside.

it was bliss the other night when it rained and cooled everything down and we could get a proper nights sleep and no one was out in the street and it was nice and quiet.

i dont even hang the washing outside. i love the smell of sundried washing but why do wasps have to hide in the sheets and sleeves?

Shylepite · 30/06/2013 20:24

You're all crazy! Summer is lovely, or would be if we had more than about 3 days of sunshine.

Ubermumsy · 30/06/2013 20:45

I hate summer too. I was going to start my own AIBU, even. I've spent the whole day sneezing uncontrollably, despite antihistamines and other preventatives, and now my pelvic floor has had enough too. My face is an oil slick with piggy bloodshot eyes peering out. I hate revealing my pasty, white, cellulitey, threadveiny legs even when I've scraped all the hair off. I burn easily so have to slap factor 50 on all the time, adding to the oil slick. I just want to sit in a cool dark room, but with two littlies that's not an option.

Maaaaan I am grumpy.

GameSetAndMatch · 30/06/2013 20:53

shyle you are more than welcome to come and try and get hot grumpy child to sleep, shout out the window to the smoking neighbours to STFU theres no need to shout, and pay my water bills for the million showers we have to have each day.

love the end of August/start of September when Autumns on its way. perfect weather then.

doingthesplitz · 01/07/2013 13:26

I like Summer but I do envy people whio, at the first sign of sun, are able to slip into shorts, sundresses, flip flops etc. It takes me ages to really psyche myself up for summer clothes and all the leg waxing, fake tanning, and pedicuring that goes with them - not to mention the fact that winter clothes disguise soo much in the way of flab, sagging and weight gain.

I also find neighbours much more annoying in Summer - loud barbecues going on til the small hours; kids still playing football on the green at 10pm on a week night etc.

CerealMom · 01/07/2013 14:48

Please (whoever's) up there - all I want is an average 20 degrees with a blue sky so I can see the sun.

Grey/white sky - feels like it's been like this forever

GameSetAndMatch · 02/07/2013 20:45

flickin fleckin flippin effing blasted insects! i HATE the summer!

GameSetAndMatch · 04/07/2013 18:16
