Before i get a back lash, i know summer is lovely and i shouldnt be so grumpy about it but.....

My sandals always rub my feet, have tried different styles etc (My winter boots never rub)

By mid morning my face is greasy/sweaty, i have tried different types of face creams for said problem (this rarely happens in winter)

I have to keep on top of foot filing and nail varnish, cant have 'ugly' feet ;) (in winter dont have to worry so much as no ones sees my feet apart from me and dh)

I have to have 2 showers everyday(in winter just the one in the morning)

I could go on but, a) i dont want to bore you more than i have and
b) i hope you get my point!

But bunbaker, it makes no odds. I still have to walk to the school which involves being out in the sun and makes the foot water thing a tad tricky. If I wear sunglasses my face sweats twice as much and if I don't wear makeup everyone can see just how stupidly red my face is.

Aetae · 19/06/2013 19:27

Oh. I like summer in the UK. But then I grew up in Australia - summer in the UK by comparison is so gentle and nice. No unbearable heat (rarely gets above 25), sun takes hours not minutes to burn you, everyone's in a good mood when it's sunny...

ARealDame · 19/06/2013 19:27

I love the sun, but love it when its gone too (the relief!) so know where you're coming from.

But I also think women are way too self-conscious of their bodies. So what if you sweat a bit?

Unless its something official - if its hot its OK to let it all hang out Smile.

Bunbaker · 19/06/2013 19:28

In Japan and Korea they are paranoid about the sun and you see Japanese/Korean tourists walking around hot places with little umbrellas. Mind you it might look a little silly over here when the temperature is a meagre 21 degrees.

Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2013 19:28

it was really hot here today but v humid so doing anything physical wasn't great.

Bunbaker · 19/06/2013 19:30

I agree with ARealDame. Does it really matter?

OH is in China at the moment. Yesterday it was 37 degrees and very humid.

AnyFucker · 19/06/2013 19:31

Shut uuuuuuuup Smile

gamerchick · 19/06/2013 19:32

Do you have to wear sandals? I just get plimsolls, you can get some really pretty ones. Granted they don't last long but they're cheap enough to replace. But I'm all about the comfort Grin

I also use facewipes and running your wrists under a cold tap helps cool you down if you get hot.

ClaraOswald · 19/06/2013 19:36

I cannot stand heat.

Especially when it's muggy and sticky and you have no choice but to wear polyester uniform tops every day and thick cotton bootcut trousers- the other option for trousers is old lady polyester crinkly stuff.

Yes, I have just spent 9 1/2 hours at work running around like a blue arsed fly. Air conditioning helps on the shop floor, but once you hit the back area, you're fucked basically.

cardibach · 19/06/2013 19:36

Cother ! haven't seen you for ages. How the devil are you?

gettingeasiernow · 19/06/2013 19:42

Totally hate it:
hayfever
find clothing difficult, usual winter "uniform" of opaques and dress doesn't work with bare legs
Childcare is a total nightmare (work full time)
Light sensitive eyes.
It's just so overrated. Give me rain or crispy cold any day.

Joiningthegang · 19/06/2013 19:46

I love summer but not the whole legs sandals skirts situation - and I have the sweaty thigh rub thing - that's rubbish

Do love a bit of sun though

LinghamStyle · 19/06/2013 19:47

Yes to some of these, however prior to seeing this thread I was bemoaning about summer to myself because

  • My house is a complete tip as I have to be outside supervising/playing/gardening.
  • I have an ironing pile the size of Ben Nevis as I can do multiple loads and get it dried but then I'm too hot/tired/lazy to iron it.
  • The DC go to bed later and get up earlier and I feel sleep deprived.

Moaning over [grin[

Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2013 19:52

Too hot at the moment to-

Vac the stairs
Iron
Cook

SprinkleLiberally · 19/06/2013 19:56

I like it on non work days and hate it on work days. Can't wear comfy summer clothing for work and have the whole bare leg issue going on. So winter in the week and summer at weekends and holiday please!

TwoTearsInABucket · 19/06/2013 19:58

And for a larger lady, chafing between the thighs.
I get very lethargic and grumpy but I do like extra daylight.

I also wake up to what I actually look like as I have been in denial for the entire winter.

queenjellybelly · 19/06/2013 19:59

You're all bloody madShock! We get such a meagre summer I would welcome a steady 25c all year round. We'd all soon adjust & save a fortune on heating, clothes drying & entertaining bored kids when it's too cold & miserable to go out. I'd also be really thin as could live on cool fresh salady stuff Grin.

emanjay · 19/06/2013 20:08

bunbaker lol we don't sit in the sun. We are out in it because we have to watch our kids

marjproops · 19/06/2013 20:12

I have bigger bills in the summe rthan with heating on in winter, the amount of showers Dc and I have to take, the tons of wet wipes and body sprays, the fan on all the time, fly spray, food goes off quicker, have to constantly cover food,

sweating as its too noisy with all night parties/bbqs to open windows, hot fat sweaty moob men with no tops on, smelly sweaty people on crowed buses/trains (and im one of tehm)

and yes chafing thighs too.

MrsBucketxx · 19/06/2013 20:14

not to mention the weeding mowing and extra gardening, I quiet like at the extra pampering.

VenusUprising · 19/06/2013 20:23

Just wear a linen, cotton or silk top, or a blouse and shorts, and flip flops, or Clarks sandals. Wear them loose.

And carry a little umbrella everywhere, it really makes a difference if you can't stand to be in the actual sunshine.

Bring a tiny bottle of water with you and hold it agains the inside of your wrists: it will cool you down.

When I was pregnant I used to die in the heat, and I loved it before: I swelled up like that poor Kim kardashian did, and for a few years I couldn't stand to be hot.

Now my youngest is 8 I can stand the heat again, and I feel better in summer when it's sunny than the cold dark winter.

I think your circulation and heat regulation changes when our pregnant, and this takes a few years to reset.

Also if carrying extra weight, I find I broil.

VenusUprising · 19/06/2013 20:24

Oh yes, and I wear Nivea for men deodorant, it's much nicer than the half hearted women's one, and keeps me fresh as a daisy.

SnookyPooky · 19/06/2013 20:25

It was 34 degrees in Limassol today, I did my housework early on before it got too hot and I've had three showers.
Where in the world are you to have eight?

CotherMuckingFunt · 19/06/2013 20:39

Hey cardi I'm good (apart from the sweating g and hating everyone who isn't sweating) thanks. Lots of real life shit getting in the way of mn as it does. How're you my lovely?

sugarplumpfairy · 19/06/2013 20:39

Me too. I get really moany and flustered. Everyone else seems to walk round looking groomed and put together, i'm about four different colours (none you could call tanned) and my knickers go up my bum. All I want to do is take my bra off Smile
