Could it be mastitis? sounds like what I had x have you called that 111 number?

specialsubject · 01/06/2013 19:33

does the NHS direct whatever work in your area? Is there an out of hours doctor service?

Saturday night so not ideal for A and E (is it ever) but think you may need more help.

CocacolaMum · 01/06/2013 19:34

If its unbearable go to the walk in centre if you have one

specialsubject · 01/06/2013 19:34

and yes, I also think may be mastitis.

TippiShagpile · 01/06/2013 19:34

Can you get to a late night chemist? You can get the oral thrush capsules which work really well and v quickly.

TippiShagpile · 01/06/2013 19:35

Actually on second thoughts it sounds like mastitis. Call 111.

Nanny0gg · 01/06/2013 19:35

Out of hours doctor or walk-in if you can.
Sounds like you might need antibiotics.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 01/06/2013 19:36

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/06/2013 19:38

Yep, def one that needs to be seen pronto. I hope you can be seen soon.

phantomnamechanger · 01/06/2013 19:38

I think you probably need antibiotics TBH, sounds just like the breast infection I had when DD was 3 weeks old - bloody awful, sudden onset, pain and feverishness - DH had to go to all night surgery for the first few doses of ABs, and a script written out to get more the following day

don't wait till Monday this is exactly what out of hours services are for

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 01/06/2013 19:38

It sounds like mastitis, you need antibiotics. I had it twice and it is horrid. Hope you feel better soon.

phantomnamechanger · 01/06/2013 19:40

Hope you get sorted and feel better soon OP, please come back and update us

Onemanwenttomowameado · 01/06/2013 19:41

A&E. Sounds like a bad infection, likely to need IV antibiotics.

lljkk · 01/06/2013 19:43

Must be seen ASAP, hope you are better very soon.

TheUnstoppableWindmill · 01/06/2013 19:45

Shivering & hot breast absolutely sounds like mastitis. You need to get it seen too ASAP (I speak from bitter experience!) an out of hours dr will be happy to prescribe antibiotics, and once you're in them you should start to feel better within 12 hours. Don't wait- see out of hours or walk in - and I really hope you feel better soon. Flowers

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 01/06/2013 19:48

CocacolaMum · 01/06/2013 20:07

forget that just go to walk in centre. You need antibiotics and they will take the best part of a day or 2 to kick in (probably, I am not a nurse, that was a guess lol)

weblette · 01/06/2013 20:07

No you won't have to stop but you need to get appropriate treatment v soon.

It's horrid, I had a ghastly time but it will get better once you have the right drugs.

joyjac · 01/06/2013 20:08

Don't stop breastfeeding if it is mastitis, it will only make it more painful if you get engorged. Think you can take ibuprofen as well as paracetamol when breastfeeding, but you do need to be seen as soon as possible.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sunshinewithshowers · 01/06/2013 20:09

Keep on breastfeeding.
Ive just had 2 weeks of antibiotics for it. Horrendous.
I hope you have somebody with you x

FourLittleDudes · 01/06/2013 20:09

The best thing to do is feed through it, even though its painful. Mastitis is awful, I really hope you can be seen tonight.

phantomnamechanger · 01/06/2013 20:13

my advice was to carry on feeding and not to simply favour the other breast.
