To not understand why people pay for sky?

Due to technical issues, I'm running my tv through an old sky box I found in the loft. I don't have a subscription so can't watch any of the sky channels. However, I can see the listings.

It's so much poo it's unbelievable. Why do people pay for this?? Are they mad?

Yes... my parents pay for sky+ HD and I just don't understand it, waste of money IMO

Depends what you want to watch though. For example if you're a sport fans then most of the major sports are shown on Sky Sports and so if you don't have it you will be missing out.

Game of Thrones.

Because the shit you get on sky is superior shit to the shit you get on freeview.

You have a wider spread of shit to choose from.

Plus we've got sky movies so we can watch shit films as a bonus.

Although saying that we're watching Extras at the min, which isn't shit.

Yes, its for things like Game of Thrones and True Blood and any other successful series that Sky get their grubby mitts on. Grr.

Beacuse I can watch 33 year old episodes of Dallas, Dh can watch 300 year old Milk Cup replays.

So, it's basically sport. Ah ok, I get. If you don't watch sport, it's basically pointless.

Sky+ box brings us more pleasure than anything we own. Allows us to watch what we want to watch when we want to watch it.

Fantastic range of channels with brilliant sport (of course at premium price) but At the Races thrown into basic package.

The ease of recording/watching back and searching through menus is amazing. We have Freeview in our bedroom but Sky is superior.

I moved up here to the Highlands 18 years ago, we had extremely limited tv reception through a normal ariel.
We got Sky and we now have telly,as does everybody else in the village, a whole row of satellite dishes.
Free Sat would work but not Freeview as far as I know, since the digital switchover.
I'll stick with Sky ta very much, and I always find some crap to watch.

I agree with you we used to have the full sky package. We dont miss it at all other than Dh gets sky sports through his mobile now for around 5.00-10.00 a month charged as an app through itunes.

That's all that we wanted it for. I do miss FourWeddings on living though pure crap tv.

We had a fairly basic package - some Kids, Comedy Central, Sky One etc, but no sports or movies. It cost us about £18pm, but when we realised we were paying over £200 per year so I could watch Everybody Loves Raymond and Two And A Half Men and DH could watch Aircraft Investigation, we decided it probably wasn't worth it.

Am I allowed to say that most receivers have four outputs so you can get your own cables and attach the spare two to any old box you get hold of and watch the unscrambled channels as an alternative to freeview?

Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic. Had thought about changing/freeviewing but Sky Atlantic v good.
