I'm an optician, think on naming DD Iris. Didn't make the connection until it was pointed out. What would you think of this? I'm a huge workaholic you see

love it!

KC225 · 06/03/2013 01:46

Iris is great name, really like it - my husband is a bank robber and our son is called Nick

TheSmallerPenguin · 06/03/2013 02:12

Not sure Smile

There's a name I have always loved, and a particular shortened version I would have used for everyday use. That shortened version is now also the common abbreviation of a drug I tell people to prescribe about 5 or 6 times every day. I couldn't use it for a name, people would fall around laughing Grin

Eskino · 06/03/2013 02:31

Like it!

I know a teacher whose son is called Mark and a woman who works in the bank has a daughter named Penny.

ripsishere · 06/03/2013 02:34

It's a great name. I honestly wouldn't have connected it to a job unlike Tylers, Tailors and the rest.

tinyshinyanddon · 06/03/2013 03:37

That is actually why I do not like this name. Always thinking of eyes rather than flowers.

MrsKeithRichards · 06/03/2013 06:54

My husband is a carpenter, our son is called Jesus.

Love the name Iris, and probably wouldn't have made the connection either.

If I have anymore children, I'm going to call them something midwifery related, like ovary :)

TiredyCustards · 06/03/2013 07:29

Love it - I'm a jewellery designer and didn't realise until after dc2 was born thatI'd named them both jewellery-related names!

2beornot · 06/03/2013 07:29

Great idea! If I have another dd I'm going to call her summer (I'm an accountant!)

Flisspaps · 06/03/2013 07:31

I'm a childminder. DD is called Playdoh and DS is called Ofsted.

I'd not thought about it until now.

NB: this may not be factually correct
