The number overweight people at swimming today

I went swimming today with my 3 children. I am not exagerating to say that well over half the children and teenagers were overweight; some were seriously obese.

It really was noticable. Girls as well as boys. Anything from age 4 to 14.

Okay - at least they were exercising but I was really shocked.

Everytime we go swimming I notice the number of overweight kids and I can't help but feel sorry for them. And yes, I judge the fuck out of the parents. There's just no excuse for having kids with rolls of fat, it's shit parenting.

As someone who's overweight but begrudgingly takes her DCs swimming now and again, I do wonder where the other fatties are. Perhaps they're all at your pool.

What a way to confirm the basic fear that prevents many overweight & otherwise self conscious people from seeking more active pursuits.

Child obesity is a serious problem so why can't it be discussed on here? Let's just sweep it under the carpet so as not to offend anyone 😕.
This is not the fault of the children at all...and obviously nobody should be staring at sneering at these kids (which the op didn't appear to be doing)...for whatever reason...but parents should be educating children into eating better and exercising more (great that so many children, whether obese or not were at the pool in the first place), of course there will be those that have health-related reasons that they are overweight but many do not...

We all know how difficult it is to lose weight as we get older so surely we should be trying to encourage children to lose weight or even better not to get to that stage in the first place...

I am overweight and I use the gym, I also use he weights there, there are women there that are toned, strong and on society's eyes perfect, I'm fat, pale and sweaty and I've also rubbed one of my eyebrows off, so I care no. I'd also swim, not actually bothered because I am in there doing something making changes one sweaty step at a time.

I don't think the OP was being offensive tbh just stating that kids now a days from a young age are overweight but this would not be seen 20/30 years ago as most children played outside and walked every where, we are in a lazy age now.
