To think piercing babies ears is horrible?

2 acquaintances have recently had their under 1 dd's ears pierced.
I can't see why someone would do this, not just due to being needlessly painful for a baby who doesn't understand, but also the likelyhood of a little girl catching earrings while playing, or pulling them out and them being a choking risk.

Unless theres some reason i've missed behind doing it so young?

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 22/12/2012 20:32

Oooo, I never got on at the start of these... I don't particularly like them but no worse than Croydon facelifts on 6 mo.

stifnstav · 22/12/2012 20:32

Oh dear. You would have tutted loudly at my mum then.

And she probably wouldn't give a shiny shit what you think.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 22/12/2012 20:39

I thought it was a bit quiet on MN tonight, so its nice to see an oldy, but a goody.

can you wait until my pizza's cooked before it properly kicks off though?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 22/12/2012 20:40

Oh fuck. Someone has already said Chavvy. No chance of my pizza being done now Xmas Sad.

kilmuir · 22/12/2012 20:40

yuk. looks chavvy, hurts them, and not necessary

VelvetSpoon · 22/12/2012 20:41

This has been done to death.

It's neither chavvy nor disgusting, but I am out of step with general MN thinking on this issue, so will simply agree to disagree rather than engaging in a bunfight.

It is Xmas after all :)

Oooh are we playing stereotypical bingo?

Chavvy
It's cultural
Comparing to circumcision/FGM
Comparing it to underage tattoos
