to hate adult 'onesies'

They just look like over grown babies in them. Where are you supposed to wear these things? I thought they were just for sleeping in (still annoying though) but they are starting to make them look like clothes you would wear outside (www.onepiece.co.uk). Even the ones for children just look really odd. This may seem like a stupid question but I can't work out how would you use the toilet when your wearing them? They are selling them in Next now and they just look like costumes. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can't stand them.

Btw I like onesies on babies. On them they are cute and practical. But adults who wear them are another story.

My teenagers wear them all the time - not outside obviously - warm, fum and they also stop me having to put the heating on so much

Exactly. Adults look like complete tits wearing them. I also don't think they're as popular with adults as the media would have us believe.

YANBU, but luckily, unless family members have them, you can pretend they don't exist.

Love mine and would wear it everywhere if I could. I don't reallly give a stuff how I look in it as that isn't really the point of them.

It does need a design tweak though - a longer zip, a nice big piss flap and a couple of pockets.

The ones on the onepiece website have these huge zips that hang in the crotch area. They've got some attractive models on that website but they just look awful cause of what they are wearing.

I can't pretend they don't exist anymore cause they are starting to sell them on the highstreet. I think they should be banned.

I know I sound hysterical. I do have more important things to worry about obviously but stumbled across the onepiece website whilst on another site and just saw red.

YABU. Is fluffy and warm and snug and mmmmmm.

And very very comfy. Mine is a furrry one - from Next - ha! - and it's like being inside a teddy. It's comforting to snuggle into at the end of a stressful day. It's a bit like a relaxing bath but for the whole evening. It's a kind of signifier - mum has 'clocked off'. I have a fleecy dressing gown but the onesie is much better as it keeps my legs warm and doesn't gape alarmingly when I'm only wearing underwear under it.

So it's a comfort thing for me. Like a hug or chocolate.

I think you're missing the point OP. You're not supposed to look good in them - it isn't what they're for.

Adults in baby outfits? Yuck!

I love mine. Okay I confess they look a tiny bit silly but so cosy and warm and I cannot have feet or hoods as I get all claustrophobic but my Dc bought me it so it must be worn, even if it does hurt the inside of my leg sometimes now, so sadly has not been worn in a few weeks!

I detest the outside ones. I was advised I had 'no self respect for hiding indoors in one' I wonder what people say about those who wear them outdoors! I literally hide when I wear mind and cannot sleep in it as it's too restricting, it wouldn't suit a baby, it's leopard print and pink!

Move away from the 'baby' idea. Think comfy boiler suit, overalls, army type jump suit. These have the same basic design - especially as all the all-in -one designs for adults don't have feet and most babygros do.

People who wear overalls, boiler suits etc are wearing them as part of their job. They are being paid to wear them! The people who I am talking about are of their own free will dressing like a freakshow

I have one(sie!) . it is the most cosy, warm, comfortable and brilliant piece of clothing that I own!

I would never wear it out (but would love to!) but it will come camping with me, and i shall shamelessly do the "before bed last minute wee" run in it.

as LFTPTP says earlier up the thread, it signifies the evening for me...adult time, leisure time.

Okay, so the yellow shell-suit one is not my thing but men shouldn't wear them, men do not need snugness and cosiness, they can grow facial hair...

I'm just messing around btw, I don't care one way or another tbh, I do not like them outdoors though I am being quite serious about that, especially when people wear MYONE with Ugg Boots! and look okayish, well better than the normal PJ look

i agree OP, YANBU. but some of these counter arguments are quite persuasive and theres a high chance i will get one for xmas so if that happens i may have to swallow my pride!

I can understand why people like them and how they can be a money-saver if you don't want to put the heating on but I think they're hideous. But then, I wouldn't have any truck with a Slanket either and only put pyjamas on at bedtime instead of at 6pm like lots of people seem to. If I'm cold I put another layer of actual clothing on, you know, the sort you can open the front door or pop to the shop in.
