Why are:

  1. Certain items of clothing = "mumsy" eg bootcuts, tunics, some boots but not others (forget which)
  1. Short wide jumpers are inherently better than others
  1. Anyone over a size 12 = fat
  1. Fat = mumsy
  1. That thinking the above makes you a cleverer and more knowing alnd all-round better person with a slight pitying disdain for those that don't agree.

Lastly I would like a definition of "Mumsy" and why it is an insult.

Thank you.

Cunty cardigans

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 18:07

I think that'd be a best seller tethers. They'd come flocking for a cunty Cardigan. We'd have a waiting list.
We could do a diffusion line. Twaty tank tops.

BOFingSanta · 06/12/2012 18:38

I honestly don't believe this to be a Style And Beauty issue in the real world at all. I think it is the usual wind 'em up and watch 'em go comment from our old friend, and people really need to keep their (fashionable or otherwise) knickers unknotted and remember that just because somebody you don't know on the internet claims that despite advancing middle age they still fall out of bed every morning looking like an Yves Saint Laurent model on their way to a mars bar party, it ain't necessarily so. Enjoying the collective outrage and gnashing of teeth brings the cheeky goader far more pleasure than mere fashion ever could.

GothAnneGeddes · 06/12/2012 18:41

I like L.M's pies.

I also like bootcut trousers.

But I really like are flares and I don't have any. Sad

Vintage shops are no good, because it would appear that all Chunky People of the Past burned their clothes as none seem to have survived into the present day.

Goth have a look on eBay for Wrangler or Levis flares but don't filter by men/ women. Levis did a lovely cord flare that weren't too high on the waist.

icclebabyjesusheave · 06/12/2012 18:50

Oh I CBA with those threads about clothing. It always smacks to me of some old trout making themselves feel better by criticising others.

Stirring is just so last...erm....decade, isn't it?

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 18:53

She may have started the ball rolling, but others were happy to pick it up and run with it

AND

There are plenty of people who DO think like that so mine are still pertinent questions.

RIGHT?

Thank you Tufty, while we're at it, didn't you say you cut your own hair and it's short and messy, care to tell me more...

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 18:54

It's got confusing. Do they mean you Hilly?

Yes goth. What do you want to know?

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 18:56

Ah ok? Maybe I should rtwt Grin

BOFingSanta · 06/12/2012 18:58

Most people don't think like that though, Hully. The ones that do, by and large are teenagers or saddos. I'm sure there's the odd exception, nice fashionista etc, but sneering is generally something people grow out of as the get older and more secure.

BOFingSanta · 06/12/2012 18:59

GothAnneGeddes · 06/12/2012 19:01

Tufty - What your haircut looks like and how you cut it yourself to get it that way.

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 19:05

Hmm well, I just sort of chop at it. It looks like mmm I don't know maybe a sort of I don't know! If you googled my real name you'd see Grin
Let me find a picture.

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 19:09

Anne Hathaway

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 19:11

Right have finally read the thread.

Firstly - Hully you need to report your post where you 'out' someone - not cricket.

Secondly - I've answered your questions although I see the thread has moved on as I spend too much time on lovely S&B

  1. Certain items of clothing = "mumsy" eg bootcuts, tunics, some boots but not others (forget which) - only in some people's opinions. I wear bootcuts and am always on bloody s&b.
  1. Short wide jumpers are inherently better than others - again - not sure I'd agree with that - that type of jumper would not work on the majority of body shapes. Its all about the dipped hem now Wink
  1. Anyone over a size 12 = fat - really think thats very unfair. S&B gives loads of advice to people of all different sizes. Its more about being confident and having fun with clothes.
  1. Fat = mumsy - again I'd say this is most definitely not the consensus on S&B
  1. That thinking the above makes you a cleverer and more knowing alnd all-round better person with a slight pitying disdain for those that don't agree - Well not sure who thinks like 1-4 so don't know. But believe me there is plenty of disdain for those who like clothes too.

Lastly I would like a definition of "Mumsy" and why it is an insult. - Well I guess its just another word for frumpy but not to be taken seriously.

I love S&B and think its generally a nice part of the site with some great regular posters and the general aim is to make people feel better about themselves so I'd personally feel really sad if people were made to feel awful about their weight.

I mean I remember searching for a blue plain dress for a certain someone Smile

KrisMoose · 06/12/2012 19:47

S&B is not sneery

Am also bemused at some of the comments re: trolling.

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 19:53

Ha ha Pinot! I've only just a) understood your name and b) realised it's you.

In my head, as KrisMoose, you look a bit like Chris Cristofferson Xmas Grin
but obviously as you you don't.

KrisMoose · 06/12/2012 19:54

Well I am nurturing a naice beard. I NEED MY TWEEZERS.

TuftyFinch · 06/12/2012 19:59

Are you not allowed your tweezers? Movember's finished now Xmas Grin

KrisMoose · 06/12/2012 20:04
