I'm at charnock Richard services and I had to shut the door to let someone pass. Keys in centre console DS 21 months locked in car. Green flag keep saying they'll be 10 mins. I'm 8 months pregnant. Sat here in tears.

Police say all they'd do is smash window - not an option, too far from home.

Please help even if its hand holding. I'm in absolute bits. He's fallen asleep thankfully. Oh god I'm shit

Hope you get rescued soon. You must be freezing.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 19:50

How come Green Flag can do it without damaging the car but the Police can't? Grin

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 19:50

OP if it makes you feel better, my stepdad once left me in the car with the handbreak off and the car started rolling down a hill... :o

Dont worry about it, mistakes happen! You'll laugh about it when your little boy is older x

piratecat · 02/11/2012 19:50

very sure they will be able to get in without smashing anything op. thank goodness you are with them. it will be ok, you made a mistake xx

brighthair · 02/11/2012 19:51

Be very happy you did not drop your keys into porta potty and were forced to lower your DC by the ankles into the poop hole to retrieve said keys.

They will be there and all will be fine. Even the poop keys were fine, in the end.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 19:53

Where are you on your way to Bunty?

WelshMaenad · 02/11/2012 19:53

Hang in there lovely, I'm sure they'll be with you very soon. He's sleeping, he hasn't a clue! Let us know when you're reunited.

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 19:53

That's great news! Have a hug and a safe trip home - poor you! Xx

RobotLover68 · 02/11/2012 19:54

It happened to me - toddler strapped in, newborn in pram outside with me - sister put keys down and car locked itself - POlice said they'd break in - RAC opened the door in seconds

Hopefully it won't be much longer

pointtopoint · 02/11/2012 19:55

Oh, just offering a virtual hand to hold.

I'm like 300 miles away from Charnock Richard services, but I feel your pain.

UnrequitedSkink · 02/11/2012 19:55

Aww, you poor love. Are you warm enough? Can you pop into garage and get a coffee or something?

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 19:55

Thanks brighthair but hopefully we'll be ok now.

On way to Scotland. Got caught in shitty traffic 3 hours ago and stopped here so I could pee and change DS into his pjs so he could sleep.

I have been there (although it was a dog in the middle of summer) with a very similar car - they use a cuff a bit like a blood pressure cuff to open slightly the door which doesn't have electric windows, the use a metal coathanger thingy to move the window winder.

UnrequitedSkink · 02/11/2012 19:55

Oops! Hooray!

pointtopoint · 02/11/2012 19:55

Oh, look at that... I pitch up and so do the rescue services!!

Hooray! xx

ChasedByBees · 02/11/2012 19:55

So glad they're there!

Headiteddie · 02/11/2012 19:56

Hopefully you are warm and cosy back in your car now. Have a safe journey home.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 02/11/2012 19:56

Yay. Have a large Wine or Brew when you get home!

Notquite · 02/11/2012 19:57

sparklingbrook. Equipment? Try breaking into a car neatly with a truncheon!

Dozer · 02/11/2012 19:57

Hope they get in there quickly. Don't drive immediately, ask a passer by to get you some sweet tea or something.
