I'm at charnock Richard services and I had to shut the door to let someone pass. Keys in centre console DS 21 months locked in car. Green flag keep saying they'll be 10 mins. I'm 8 months pregnant. Sat here in tears.

Police say all they'd do is smash window - not an option, too far from home.

Please help even if its hand holding. I'm in absolute bits. He's fallen asleep thankfully. Oh god I'm shit

Am freezing ATM - but DH worse as he's been stood out there like a trooper for an hour and a bit.

This is when I wish you could have a stiff drink in pregnancy.

Did the staff not bring you a drink or anything?

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 19:58

Sorry Notquite thought the police may have equipment. Grin Or they could grab a passing car thief. Wink

MumsGoToReykjavik · 02/11/2012 19:59

OP - I can be there in less than ten mins?

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 19:59

To be fair to staff they have been excellent - thy offered me a drink when I came in howling but am now between outside checking on DS and DH and at the Starbucks phoning the parents and green flag so they might not even know I'm still here. They took reg so that if over 2 hors wouldn't get parking ticket

Hopefully you're in your car now. Un MN hugs.

I've done similar, though no child in the car but left keys in a car when attending a funeral, cue AA arriving during the wake.

DoesItComeInBlack · 02/11/2012 20:00

I did something similar outside church a month ago, the AA man got into the car without breaking the window, He had a hydraulic pumpy wedge thing that forced the door open a crack then he was able to use a grabby stick to get the keys, he was there really quick, I was a priority. You'll be ok, the LO probably won't even notice this has happened. Try to stay calm xxxx We all do daft things sometmes.

storminabuttercup · 02/11/2012 20:00

So glad they are there. You could see your little boy, all is fine!

We've all done similar things. I once locked DS in the house

MumsGoToReykjavik · 02/11/2012 20:00

Oh sorry, only read first page Blush

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 20:00

If GF have arrived it won't be long now. Sounds like you and DH both need a hot drink Brew - can only offer a virtual one for now but have a sit down and warm up as soon as the car is sorted and you have given DS hugs (that you probably need more than him)!

Groovee · 02/11/2012 20:01

Phew for that x

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 20:01

Ooh.

BuntyCollocks · 02/11/2012 20:02

Thanks everyone for the hand holding and offers of help.

Massive unmnty hugs to you all

Glad you're in. Safe journey.

Waspie · 02/11/2012 20:08

I locked myself in the back of my car the other week Blush. Child locks on both doors! Unfortunately I couldn't climb into the front of the car because I had had a back operation 3 weeks before and simply wasn't flexible enough!

I had to knock on the window at passers by and ask (loudly) that they open the door for me. I got some very odd looks Grin. My 4 year old son, in the car seat next to me, was laughing at me.

Glad it's sorted for you now OP

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 20:11

Waspie that's both [grin and Sad at the same time.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 20:11

Grin even

JustFabulous · 02/11/2012 20:13

DH locked me in his car a fortnight ago. It was horrible. And he wasn't answering his phone.

Waspie · 02/11/2012 20:20

Sparklingbrook Smile I had a minor panic when I realised what I'd done but luckily it school chucking out time so I could share my stupidity with the rest of the school mums and dads and didn't have to wait long for someone to rescue me Grin

Justfabulous that's not good Sad I think I would have been trying to find something to break a window with after a while. How long were you locked in for?

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 02/11/2012 20:20

I love Mumsnet Grin.
