AngryAngryAngry those angry's are for me!

I have just watched MC on daybreak and no matter how hard i try and despise this man, there is a tiny part of me that thinks maybe he is genuinely having to play a higher game because he knows too much, so i feel a pang of sympathyAngry

WTF is that all about?? Feel free to yell at me so i can re focus!

So many conflicting feelings. Why cant he just hand a dirty fat dossier over to the police or maybe he knows they wouldnt do anything with it anyway and neither would the media.

What a giant mess this country is inSad

You can tell i have been reading the DI site for 2 days. Heart breaking stuff and no one will ever be held accountable.

The Beeb really dont care what we think because they are untouchable.

I still dont think he should be involved with CIN based on the fact he is compromised.

Edam we are all annoyed about the rest.
If you look at the way saville did it he got himself in positions of influence, based on his charity work and then brought other people in with him to protect his power base.
So the question should be asked is he a fit and proper person to be in that position seeing he has said he protects people.
As a pr person he wil also get people good publicity. What a great place to be if not on a children's programme. Hiding in full view.
That's why we are worried its happened before you must remember the case. MC appears to be a genuine bloke who struck lucky in the 60 s and built a good career on the bones of the stars at the time. He should know now that something's should not be protected . He has family I bet he knew who to keep his children, nieces and nephews away from. There were others who had no protection, who had no one to keep them safe.

Ooh mrscrump I hope you are ok. The di website is shocking at some parts of it I had to cover my eyes and turn it off. Asit was too horrible to contemplate the world around us. I am absolutely petrified for my dc's now. I have started to look at everything differently and have lost my trust in people.

I sent the email. It was an amalgamation of all the bits posted. I got a reply saying we don't read everything and a link to bbc complaints.
I was going to email each of the trustees as well just to make sure it goes somewhere.

How on earth does anyone comprehend the enormity of what goes on behind the scenes.

I have always thought my own experience of the system was because of local laziness, a lack of oooopmh or even just being unlucky and having a shit copper and even shittier social worker on the day.

Apparently not, it is endemic within a failing system that appears to be purposely set up to fail.

No wonder so many social workers quit.

DI is nothing like i thought it would be, what an incredible amount of info, even though i do have to skim some of the more 'way out there' concerns as its too much for me at the mo.

Max said that the BBC would be making a big revelation today. That probably means another dead star will start to be investigated!

I'm confused why most people who voiced an opinion on MN defended Esther Rantzen who claims to have known about JS and said that she should keep working with Childline, yet everyone is saying that Max Clifford shouldn't be allowed to work with Children in Need.

I genuinly don't understand the difference between the two.

I havn't seen MC on tv this morning but will try and see on catch up, hope I won't be violently sick!! I see that Edam revealed himself/herself as a "hack" but I suspect given outrageousness of comments, that he/she is actually working for MC! (No, I don't think I'm being paranoid). As a newby to Mumsnet, can someone please tell me what the DI site is? Re. MC Don't be fooled by anything he says, I know more than I can say here on a public forum!

Did'nt manage to find MC on Daybreak this morning but this is what he said as reported by press:
"PR guru Max Clifford said this morning a lot of old stars were worried about being dragged into the investigation because they had appeared on Top Of The Pops or Jim'll Fix It and merely posed for photographs with girls and Savile.
"It is a situation which could easily turn into a witch hunt, a lot of big stars are frightened," Mr Clifford told Daybreak. "Where is it going to end?
"I hope they (the police) concentrate on finding people like Jimmy Savile who were manipulating girls."?

How long before MC stars alluding "to trial by media" and how it is isn?t fair on the famous???????????????

The fact that those victims are not being given the chance to say anything to the media currently, (apart from the original "Exposure" programme ¾ weeks ago) yet MC is popping up left, right and centre, protesting the innocence of the famous before they've even been arrested, is trial by media, BUT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE VICTIMS. MC is doing his best to detract from the seriousness of these offences by gradually trying to sway public op. DON?T BE FOOLED! The fact that these women have now come forward is because the original documentary changed the climate into one where these women had a chance to be believed. The fame of those accused has served to protect them over this period of time and the media is still protecting them because of people like MC. Don?t forget MC?s career has been built on telling lies to the media, why would anyone believe him now in the light of the JS scandal?

Hayleyh34,

If you look at the Icke forum you'll find a lot of people who are angry at Rantzen. Non-Icke people are only just seeing how deep this goes and probably genuinely thought she was ok. Here's a confession, I used to like Max Clifford ;)

But as Freddie Star said about the victims last night: "I feel so sorry for them, that this animal has been going round for years and years and years. The press knew about it. The police knew about it. The BBC knew about it."

They all knew and they all lied and we all fell for it. People are realising at different times and I think our opinions of a lot of people will be changing in the near future.

This is where we are whether we admit it or not:

Charity workers can't blow the whistle on child abuse at our state broadcaster.

Police are told to drop investigating pedophile rings at the top of government

MoJ and NHS staff cannot blow the whistle on abuse in prisons

The Church, Royalty and public institutions highly decorate a known pedophile

This is the country we grew up in. Are people getting it now..? :)

Hayleyh34 yES, and F S obviously knew about it!
MrsjREwing - when did MC say about the BBC and their "shocking announcement" - was it on Daybreak?

So, again, why is MC in a position of privilege where he knows what shocking announcement the BBC are going to make (or is he telling fibs to make himself look more powerful and knowing than he actually is?) Presumably if he knows about a "shocking announcement" then he also knows the identity of this person. So if this shocking announcement is about someone who he knows/wants to protect, he could already be "protecting them" with spin, winks and nods, lining up the press, telling them what to say? Perhaps this is a story that suits him to be brought out into the pulbic arena? Perhaps he's traded to keep other stories quiet?

I found it odd that he said he knew the police were going to be arresting someone again v. soon. Does that mean, that he's bribing policemen like he did in the past (and openly admitted to a Guardian journalist)?

LIES, LIES, LIES and a bit of spin!!

Hayleyh34, I'm sure that's true. But maybe you work in an environment where you'd feel comfortable talking about it to your bosses. It's now been proven that the BBC and the MoJ/NHS were not places where people could voice concerns. This isn't about the many brilliant individuals who work in charity, it's about the system around them that keeps people in fear of their jobs instead of voicing concerns.

BTW, I think MORE people will give MORE to charity this year. The subject will be spoken about and more people will be thinking about it. People are still charitable, the poorest the most so. And I think people will consider giving direct to the smaller charities instead of the ones that attract celebrities, who after all, have been proven to do all they can to avoid paying tax, including putting their money through charitable foundation trusts etc.

Did you see BBC news this morning? In the FS article, before FS and Karin were shown a quick flash of MB was shown.

So on Daybreak today, Sue Hill (ex chief police) says that although people have been arrested, the police are still investigating and it would be helpful if people (I presume she means MC) could take a step back and let the police investigate otherwise we could be in a trial by media situation.

MC comes on to do his bit, says FS denied all allegations to him, says some of these things happened 40-50 yrs ago and how just being arrested is v. damanging. Stars had talked to him and worried simply coz they had had their photo taken on top of the tops with girls and JS. They were now worried that they could be implicated. MC then adds that It?s a situation which could easily turn into a witch hunt. (Note not mentioned trial by media yet) BBC are going to come out with something new which will be quite shocking, from conversations he has had with people from Newsnight. Where is it going to all end? Again he states that he hopes they (the police) concentrate on finding people like js who were manipulating young girls (ie. violated 100s of girls rather than just the odd 1 or 2 - is that what he means?)

Thought MC was looking very twitchy this morning!
Hope he will take Sue Hill's (Police) advice and shut up about his famous friends and stop spinning everything, and let the police get on with their investigations. He is the one promoting a trial by media!!
