AIBU? Does anyone elses DH do this?!

My lovely, charming DH seems to spend a large proportion of his time with a hand down the front his trousers (his hand, not like a plastic mannequin one or anything. That would add a whole new dimension to the problem).

When I point this out, his defence is that he has an itch or is "rearranging" but unless he has crotch fleas (he doesn't) surely he can't itch that much and he is averagely size (or if he is reading - bloody massive, so huge!) so rearranging seems...unusual.

It's starting to get right on my wick that he's always at his "wick" (see what i did there?). It's mostly in private but he does it without thinking sometimes in public and when we're with people and I'm sure other people see.
He gets cross and says "If i can't do what I want in the privacy of my own home...blah blah"
but AIBU to find it disgusting?!

[Have added this to chat too, to get a full scope of peoples thoughts.)

No, he thinks it's horrible.

I do too, it reminds me of chavvy lads who I know.

my stepdad is always doing it

AdoraBell · 19/10/2012 19:10

Mine doesn't, but I have a nephew who as a baby and toddler couldn't sleep without his hand down his nappy. No idea if he still does this now that he's all grown up.

LFCisTarkaDahl · 19/10/2012 19:11

Yanbu - it's impolite even in 'his own home' if in front of you.

I call all that 'bathroom activity' and when dh picks at his nails or his feet I send him away to the bathroom.

If he actually started ball juggling and cock playing I'd be revolted.

Binkyridesagain · 19/10/2012 19:11

My DH doesn't do it, if things need adjusting then he will go to the bathroom.
It could we worse though OP, I have a cousin who does this all the time but to make it even more gross he sniffs his fingers afterwards, even in public.

achillea · 19/10/2012 19:12

Eew. Does he wear elasticated trousers? I feel queazy just think about it.

OnlyWantsOne · 19/10/2012 19:12

No!!! DP doesn't.

Would it be acceptable if you sat with your hand having fiddle?

bumperella · 19/10/2012 19:13

Adorabell, you need to save that for future wedding/new job/Nobel prize speach/etc.

Anyhiw... does he vary the excuse, or rotate them - itch then rearrangement then itch then... or does it randomly vary?

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 19/10/2012 19:13

has he got crabs ?

bumperella · 19/10/2012 19:15

OOh, lots of x-posts.
He does it without noticing. Pull him up on it every time. Otherwise he will be doing it in public without realising (like picking scalp and eating the bits, a la my sis).

maddening · 19/10/2012 19:15

My Df doesn't do that no.

NotAChocolateRaisin · 19/10/2012 19:16

bumperella - can't say I've been monitoring too closely

Happyhalloween - (and everyone else) just for the record he definitely does NOT have any kind of disease infection etc Grin

YANBU
Mine does it, not in public thank god. But he does give it a good ol' rearrange or feel more often than is acceptable!! I ask him if its because he's worried it's fallen off?!
Men generally play with it a lot more than us tho, right? A manager at work does it ALL the time, even when he's talking to you...crotch at face/desk height.
How bout NO!!!Angry

maybenow · 19/10/2012 19:20

when my dh has tracky bottoms on he tucks his hand into the waistband and it's horrible - he's not actually fiddling because his had is up by his waist and not right down in his crotch but i still think it looks horrid... but thankfully he doesn't wear trackies out in public so not a problem there.

cricketballs · 19/10/2012 19:21

My du has always sat Luke that, apparently its a comfort thing! Since he had testicular cancer (completely clear now) he can say its on doctors order to check!! Both ds are the same....

catgirl1976 · 19/10/2012 19:22

My DH doesn't do that

Although he has lots of other bad habits, if that helps

NotAChocolateRaisin · 19/10/2012 19:25

I think the testicular cancer is probably one of the few valid excuses. But I'm quite fond of my boobs (in a totally normal way Confused) but I don't have to check that they're still there.
Then again, I think I would notice one did go walkies. I'd walk lopsided for a start...

Mine does it too. My new tactic is to shame him out of it Smile.

WorraLiberty · 19/10/2012 19:29

No DH doesn't do it, but DS1 started so I threatened to chop his hands off.

EasilyBored · 19/10/2012 19:30

But but but... Surely he then has crotch sweat/ball bacteria on his hands?! Every time he does it, I would just ask him to please go wash his hands after wards. My DH doesn't do it (that I'm aware of).

sweetfluffybunnies · 19/10/2012 19:30

Adorabell, my dh does this!! Not a nappy, obviously - hand down the front of his pj's!!Blush

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/10/2012 19:32

Disgusting and unnecessary. I would smack his hands for it. Tell him mumsnet says he's a minger.

cozietoesie · 19/10/2012 19:33

It's a comfort thing. I have absolutely no idea how you stop it though.

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 19/10/2012 19:41

does he make you a sandwich with those dirty hands ? Grin

NotAChocolateRaisin · 19/10/2012 19:41

I've been considering some kind of vicious chastity belt affair with spikes and possibly an electrical current..

OP posts:
NotAChocolateRaisin · 19/10/2012 19:43

That's one of my arguments - that its unhygienic!
But considering that at least half of the time I have to remind him to wash his hands after going for a wee I don't think that factors in his mind.
