AIBU? Does anyone elses DH do this?!

My lovely, charming DH seems to spend a large proportion of his time with a hand down the front his trousers (his hand, not like a plastic mannequin one or anything. That would add a whole new dimension to the problem).

When I point this out, his defence is that he has an itch or is "rearranging" but unless he has crotch fleas (he doesn't) surely he can't itch that much and he is averagely size (or if he is reading - bloody massive, so huge!) so rearranging seems...unusual.

It's starting to get right on my wick that he's always at his "wick" (see what i did there?). It's mostly in private but he does it without thinking sometimes in public and when we're with people and I'm sure other people see.
He gets cross and says "If i can't do what I want in the privacy of my own home...blah blah"
but AIBU to find it disgusting?!

[Have added this to chat too, to get a full scope of peoples thoughts.)

Raisin do not search for male chastity devices on the net, especially not on eBay, DH 'fell' upon them the other day (looking for a Xmas pressie) he hasn't walked the same since Grin

monsterchild · 19/10/2012 19:45

that's annoying. My Dh does this too, then when he brings his hand out he smells it! bagh! What can it smell like other than sweaty man crotch?!?!

fishcalledwonder · 19/10/2012 19:48

Ball bacteria??! Jesus!

No DH does not do this. He would probably like to but gets enough grief for sticking his finger in his ear.

YA def NBU!

NotAChocolateRaisin · 19/10/2012 19:49

monsterchild you've made me feel so much better about it! no sniffing involved! A silver lining, if you like.

valiumredhead · 19/10/2012 19:54

NO, dh thinks it's disgusting to do that. Yuck!

monsterchild · 19/10/2012 19:57

I just ask him if the cheese is ready yet. He gets embarrassed and defensive. At least we can laugh about it!

BlueSkySinking · 19/10/2012 20:02

Thankfully my DH doesn't do that

tinkertitonk · 19/10/2012 20:03

Offer to do it for him.

In public.

FunBagFreddie · 19/10/2012 20:07

DP likes to give it a squeeze when we are watching telly. Not with DS about though! He says it's a comfort thing. Hmm

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 19/10/2012 20:24

Nope DH doesn't do this. It reminds me of teens with their trousers round their arses and hand down their pants in Croydon town!

ElizaBecca · 19/10/2012 20:29

My DH does it and it definitely is a comfort thing. I also worked (thankfully in the past tense!) in a male prison and they all used to walk around with their hands down their trousers, they laughed when I reprimanded them for it and told me it was even better that us female governors noticed it, so I stopped noticing it, and guess what, they stopped doing it when I was around Grin

ThreeWheelsGood · 19/10/2012 20:35

Yuck. It's clearly a soothing/comfort thing, a bit like how some people twiddle their hair (head hair!) or suck their thumb. A nasty habit he needs to break, tell him it's childish and unhygienic.

ZombTEE · 19/10/2012 20:37

I have had to institute a 'no touching your penis in the common areas' rule in our house.

My husbands says it's discrimination since I'm the only girl.

I don't care. I don't want to see any of the boys/men in this house fiddling in the living room.

imperialstateknickers · 19/10/2012 20:41

DP wants to know why I'm sniggering...

CouthyMowEatingBraiiiiinz · 19/10/2012 20:41

Do you have a son...

My DS1 and DS2 didn't and don't do this. DS3, however, at 20mo, sticks his hand in his trousers, up his vest, in the top of his nappy, and sits on the sofa juggling. Hmm

Having had two non-fiddlers, I never used to believe my friends when they said that all men do this, even their baby DS's. then I had DS3.

I can no more stop him rearranging his undercarriage than I can stop him from farting on my leg and laughing. HmmHmm

Tigerbomb · 19/10/2012 20:45

My DH has a large gut. He couldn't get his hand down his waistband even if he lubed it up with lard first

I haven't noticed my DH doing this, though he does keep sniffing his fingers Hmm Gross!

Pleasenomorepeppa · 19/10/2012 22:33

DH does it over his trousers, he rarely puts in inside. Just says he's itchy. [hmmm].

FunBagFreddie · 19/10/2012 23:19

DP does this occasionally when he forgets himself. I was the first person he lived with, we moved in together when he was 35. He probably had years of being able to do it with nobody to pull him up on it. Grin

howelsabout · 19/10/2012 23:31

i do and i'm a girl Blush (i don't fiddle with anything) dp and ds1 do it aswell

CuriousMama · 19/10/2012 23:32

Nope, but ds2 (12) occasionally does it. We tell him not to though seen as it's gross.

Jux · 19/10/2012 23:53

DH does it, but usually because he's wearing The Devil's Knickers Grin which get all twisted up etc. AFAIK he is far too Super Cool to do this in public, and will apologise if he does it in front of me.

Perhaps if you were to give a lot of comfortable boxers for Xmas - enough to last a year - that would sort it? Save on the cost of a decent present, too!

OneMoreChap · 20/10/2012 00:11

I'd suggest underwear issues:

Either a tad of dhobi itch, which he's scratching - in which case recommend Lamasil anti fungal spray

He gets tangled in his underwear and is straightening things out. There's loads of stuff dangling down, and if any of you have accidentally got a bollock twisted and sat on, I dare say you would try and avoid a repetition.

Oh, and all "It's so disgusting..." It's part of your DP's body FFS!

May you all get honest answers to "Does my bum look big in this?" Grin

aldiwhore · 20/10/2012 00:15

I don't see a problem with any comforter so long as it's private, covert, respectful... etc.,

If your DH is doing this in front of you (like picking his nose, scratching his arse etc) and you don't like it, he shouldn't do it in front of you.... BUT YABU to expect him to be perfectly wonderful at all times in his own home... so if you're watching a film and he does it, fair enough.
