"How the fuck can you hate sheep?"

Easily. I tried crossing a field of sheep the other night, marked path, right of way etc. I had an entire field of the little wooly fuckers running at me; baaing. Have you ever noticed how "baaaaaa" sounds like "braaaaaains"? I hadn't, not until then. Brr... they all look the same as well. Like little wooly zombies. Or bodysnatchers. Ran like hell before they got close.

baskingseals · 23/09/2012 18:46

ilive in the country too.

i miss the city and cappucinos and people watching.

it's a bit like missing dancing all night. something i really hope i'll do again one day, but can't ever see it happening.

one good thing about the country is you can be more unconventional - cause sheep and trees don't care about that sort of thing.

Hullygully · 23/09/2012 18:46

OH IT'S TOO LATE NOW I'M BLOODY HERE

TheGoldenKnid · 23/09/2012 18:46

But there are so many people in towns/cities! Shock

I can't be doing with people.

Hullygully · 23/09/2012 18:47

where do you live Mother Inferior and Human Catapault?

OP posts:
NellyJob · 23/09/2012 18:47

ah but the folk in the village shop/pub care deeply....they live on petty gossip

expatinscotland · 23/09/2012 18:48

We had to move for the schools because we're low-wage earners and in cities the only places we can afford to rent are in areas with shite schools.

We're stuck out here for that.

It's boring as all fuck and is slowly driving me mad.

SuoceraBlues · 23/09/2012 18:49

NEVER EVER MOVE FOR KIDS' SCHOOL

I didn't do that. Love where we live, but oh god the local schools

Thank god for the tecnological age and a good school could be moved to me via wifi.

I do love my Italian rural corner most days, but if we weren't here becuase I wanted to be here I think it would drive me mad. So much sympathy.

To change the music on your prison bars so you can break up the boredom a bit.

NellyJob · 23/09/2012 18:49

and the fucking garage doesn't even sell jump leads

NellyJob · 23/09/2012 18:50

grazie suocera

Hullygully · 23/09/2012 18:51

I feel today like when I was a kid and it was Sunday and raining and nothing to do and school tomorrow and Songs of Praise on the telly

DorsetKnob · 23/09/2012 18:51

I love living in the country, my sheep are gorgeous and my pigs will taste delicious.

IvorHughJanus · 23/09/2012 18:52

Oooh Knid are they really? I love Lincolnshire but have never lived there which DH is using against me in my 'it will be wonderful' argument.

Hully, am in Margate, as in daaaaahn to Maaaargit, which is utterly bloody horrible. Although we are actually in a little village just outside it which is very sweet. But you don't have to be in the car longer than two minutes to be right in the centre of the horridness and all the schools are there too. Sigh.

Hullygully · 23/09/2012 18:52

That's you and Knid, Dorset freaks

OP posts:
SuoceraBlues · 23/09/2012 18:52

sounds like "braaaaaains"?

Grin Killing myself laughing Grin

Will laugh less when the shepards bring their mega flock down this way, engulf the house and peomptly I knee jerk into Zombie Apocolypse mode.

EdgarAllanPond · 23/09/2012 18:52

i am on the edge of town, and considering moving to the country.

at the moment i get country walks, and can also walk to school, takeaway and newsagents.

the place in the country has better schools, but no takeaway or newsagents and you can walk to school but there isn't a path (so it is roadside, not a pleasant walk)

i lived in a big city once and loved it. however, yes, it does seem better for the kids in the country. they don't seem to appreciate 24 hour living.

Mind you hully you live in England-land. It's like a theme park in your parts isn't it?

all oast houses and cider jugs?

BizarreLoveTriangle · 23/09/2012 18:54

I grew up in the countryside and loved it. I couldn't do it now. I would detest it.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2012 18:54

Oh, god, yes, when the weather is bad it's little above a fucking prison. There is FA to do indoors and the nearest city is a looooong drive away.

No theatres, restaurants, cafes, shops open past 6 except a dinky Morrison's and Co-Op, nothing at all open past 10PM but pubs, no museums or culture of any sort, one cinema hardly ever open, no pavements to even go for a walk.

BORED, BORED, BORED!

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 23/09/2012 18:55

YANBU

I lived in the country for just over a year and when I got back to London I felt like I was coming out of solitary confinement. I came out the train station and was almost kissing passers by...people, trains, buses, shops.....not a sheep in sight, thank fuck for that.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2012 18:55

School is good, though.

SuoceraBlues · 23/09/2012 18:55

Well I can trump Songs of Praise.

Thanks to next door and MIL, I've had Radio Fucking Maria in stereo ALL DAY.

Both next door and MIL are a bit deaf so the volume was just at that point where countryside lack of signal makes the static painful.

expatinscotland · 23/09/2012 18:56

Everything's more expensive out here, too.

Have to order nearly everything online.

Dark, cold, wet and BORING. The place is full of functioning alcoholics and even drugs because well, there isn't much else to do.

BobblyOrangeGoldGussets · 23/09/2012 18:56

At least you've got a lovely carvery near you in the Cuntyside Wink

freddiefrog · 23/09/2012 18:57

I'm country-ish and quite like it.

We have village to one side, sea on another and fields to the other and 10 minutes from town.

I don't mind sheep but I bloody hate cows, they are evil bastards

Hullygully · 23/09/2012 18:57

RADIO MARIA?

WTF is that?

yy Holy Autumn

We were going to go up that London today just to remind ourselves we were actually still alive, but it's pissed down all day
