Letting my DD pay

TeapotsInJune · 29/08/2012 14:37

DD has a thing about money and likes putting it into slots. I picked her up to pay for the parking and there was a queue (which we had also stood in) and as DD was putting money in someone behind us groaned theatrically and said "Some of us HAVEN'T got all day!"

So who was U? Me for letting DD pay or the rude man? Grin

rude man.

yanbu

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 14:39

You I think

It's nice when kids want the fun of paying...I remember lifting my 3 up (not all at the same time!) to reach coin slots.

But if there was a queue, I'd tell them they had to wait til next time.

StanleyAccrington · 29/08/2012 14:39

YABU
my DC like to do the self-scanning thing at Tesco express, but they are only allowed to do so when there is no queue. Time and place and all that jazz.

Paiviaso · 29/08/2012 14:39

YABU, I would have really been annoyed with you as well.

Lovemy3kids · 29/08/2012 14:39

Rude man.....my DC always loved putting money into the slots in the car park and I always let them :)

hermionestranger · 29/08/2012 14:39

Sorry but YAbu, if there was a queue it was quite a rude thing to do.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/08/2012 14:40

Depends how slow she was. If as fast as you, fine - if faffing and being a kid while a queue of people were waiting, not fine.

Crazyfatmamma · 29/08/2012 14:41

Occasionally I think its good for children to be like mum /dad and do grown up things though I wouldnt allow them to expect to do it at all times and not in a queue Im afraid.

newmum001 · 29/08/2012 14:42

Yanbu the man was rude.

TeapotsInJune · 29/08/2012 14:43

A bit slower than I'd have been but not terribly slow (I was guiding et hand) - the queue came about because of people not having their ticket ready or fumbling about for change ... he didn't say anything to THEM! Grin

Worra she's only 1 so we're at hat great stage where she doesn't understand too well! Grin

I think you, I've been in the situation when I've been behind people who do this when my own kids have been told no and its really annoying, especially if you have things to do or time constraints and to be honest I don't think he was that rude..

MrsMangoBiscuit · 29/08/2012 14:43

I think he was a bit rude and a bit grumpy. It doesn't take much longer to let your DC do it. If they were taking ages and you were refusing to take over and do it for them, then you would have BU, but for the sake of 10 or so seconds I reckon he was BU, and a bit of a jerk!

TeapotsInJune · 29/08/2012 14:44

Her hand and that great stage (on my phone!)

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 14:46

Oh well if she's only 1 then you can just pop the coins in yourself and cart her off under your arm Grin

I think it's pretty par for the course to find fumblers in a queue

But I would have been a bit >> Hmm faced at a parent with a one year old baby putting the coins in!

Mind you, I wouldn't have said anything out loud

TeapotsInJune · 29/08/2012 14:46

Chips - I do, I think he was really rude and snarky for no good reason; it was literally about 10/20 extra seconds as I had my ticket and correct change all waiting and ready. Fair enough if he was in a rush or whatever but like I say he wasn't rude about anybody else fumbling around but then a 1 y/o is fair game? (pfb! I knew it would come one day! Grin)

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 29/08/2012 14:46

YABU.

Not if there is a queue.
I would have probably said the same.

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/08/2012 14:46

I'd have tutted internally - am very skilled at that Wink

I think when there's a queue you should facilitate it moving swiftly.

TeapotsInJune · 29/08/2012 14:47

I know Worra but then the screams start ...

I'll get ripped to shreds now won't I!? Grin

That makes it sound like you were all fondling each others genitals doesn't it? Blush

NCForNow · 29/08/2012 14:50

Yabu. My DD also likes to pay...they ALL do. I let her but NOT if there is a queue of people waiting.

NCForNow · 29/08/2012 14:51

She's one! Just tell her "Oh the slot fairy has run off! Look over there!"

And then shove the money in yourself! Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/08/2012 14:52

YABU

Do you let her have her own way to avoid screaming all the time?

thornrose · 29/08/2012 14:52

I'd have cleared my throat and done the funny shuffling, sighing thing I do when I'm irritated but too nice to actually complain

WorraLiberty · 29/08/2012 14:53

And then shove the money in yourself!

As entertaining as I'm sure that would be, the money really needs to go in the machine! Shock

I dread to think how she'd pay and display.... Grin

NCForNow · 29/08/2012 14:53

Me too thorn. And rolled my eyes at whoever was behind me.
