she gave birth after a difficult 12 hour labour, biggish baby 8lb 13oz,came home next morning and had no baby milk,he drove her the supermarket and told her to go in and get it as he didnt know what brand she wanted etc, very sore and tired, she went into large supermarket, walking round and collasped and badly haemorraged, and was took away in an ambulance :(

Oh that's awful, I hope she recovers quickly Sad

I can't see why he's an arsehole though?

No-one could have known that would happen or she wouldn't have been released from hospital.

JumpingThroughHoops · 11/08/2012 22:34

At least he drove her - did she give him a list?

I actually do not believe your post TBH.

dontlaugh · 11/08/2012 22:34

He sounds like a right diamond Hmm. is your friend ok?

MrsMangelfanciedPaulRobinson · 11/08/2012 22:35

Why didn't she have any baby milk?

MadgeHarvey · 11/08/2012 22:35

I ain't much buying it either tbh. You're not being a tiny little bit of a drama llama are you?

squeakytoy · 11/08/2012 22:36

Good point, you would think she would have got some in beforehand.

redlac · 11/08/2012 22:36

Surely she knew she was pregnant and should have had some milk in?

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 11/08/2012 22:37

I think the OP is suggesting he's an arsehole because he let his wife who had given birth the day before go into a supermarket on her own when she should have been resting at home while he took his sorry arse to get it himself!

Not knowing what to get is a ridiculous excuse, he could have called a family member or asked an assistant for advice.

Hope your friend is on the mend OP and that her DH was just sleep-deprived so she gets some proper support on her return home.

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2012 22:38

I assumed the baby was early or she changed her mind about BF-ing?

Either way if she was going to haemorrage, it could just as easily have happened walking to the toilet.

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 11/08/2012 22:38

Hope your friend is ok. Where was the baby? Why would he do that, could he not see she was 100% and gone in with her?

Or do what my DH did when I had a strop when bf-ing, he went and bought one of each of the ready made cartons of formula, having asked the boots lady her advice, the little superstar

NameChangeGalore · 11/08/2012 22:39

Do they not own phones with Skype? Dh and I used video Skype when he went to buy my maternity towels. Grin

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 11/08/2012 22:39

Meant to say not 100% Blush

Also wondering why she had no milk in?

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2012 22:39

Oh for goodness sake

"He let his wife go into a supermarket"?

My DH doesn't get to 'let' me do anything and I would have been quite happy to pop out of the car and nip in for the milk.

JumpingThroughHoops · 11/08/2012 22:39

I feel I should have some sisterhood witch hunting and announce she should have EBF's or something?

however, as I do not believe the Ops post whatsoever, I don't think I CBA.

lilmamma · 11/08/2012 22:40

no its completely true, why would i lie,and i dont know why she didnt have any milk in,she breastfed her last 4,so i dont know why she isnt with this one,as i have been on holiday,so havent even seen her or the baby yet ..and why would she give him a list ? she only wanted the baby milk,i think he is a arsehole as he should have gone for it,not her,she should have been at home, and if you dont believe me,so what !

I believe it, sadly was married to a man like this. Hope she is ok now!!

Haemadoots · 11/08/2012 22:43

My dh wouldn't have had a clue, I would have went in too, agree she would have haemorrhaged wherever she was, but really hope she is ok. Is there more of a backstory op?

Lucyellensmum99 · 11/08/2012 22:43

So, she told you that he sent her into the supermarket then? Maybe they decided that she should pop in and get the milk and left him and baby in the car? Very unfortunate and im sorry tht she was poorly, i really hope she is doing well.

My friend had a baby, and was at the school gate to pick up her DD1 that very afternoon Hmm having walked to school with the new baby in his buggy (awww)

She would have still heamorraged im sure - he probably feels terrible. Unless he is generally a twunt to her i would keep your opinion firmly to yourself if you want to keep this friend.

Lucyellensmum99 · 11/08/2012 22:44

So you've not seen her? how do you know what happened then? perhaps she was WANTING to go in herself and pick up a few things. Sheeesh.

Actually baby #2 and #3 I would have been asking dh to let me go into the supermarket. I wanted to get out and about. With #1 I was too sore, but with the other two everyone else seemed to be more cautious about me than I felt necessary. Drove me crazy being treated like an invalid.

Also I don't think less than 9lb is a particularly big baby nowadays.

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2012 22:46

Anyway, how do you know how the conversation went?

You haven't said she asked him to get it and he point blank refused.

She might have said, "Can you pull up at Tesco while I nip in an buy some formula?"

Poor git wasn't to know she was going to haemorrage

McHappyPants2012 · 11/08/2012 22:47

Why didnt she just say no, I don't feel up to a big supermarket just get < insert milk brand here> for your newborn baby

Lucyellensmum99 · 11/08/2012 22:52

have reported your last post OP, aggresive posting is bang out of order if you ask me. We understand that you are angry for your friend, but you don't really know what happened so can't judge. As i said, please don't repeat these thoughts in real life as your friend will not thank you for it.

lilmamma · 11/08/2012 22:53

my friends daughter told me tonight, what had happened to her mum,she wasnt around to help her either, anyway im not going to explain myself, and be judged as a lier!! i just think knowing him, what a rat he is, not just because she haemorrged as this could happen anyway.wont bother next time :(
