I don't care how hot it is, I don't want to be confronted with a sunburnt, perspiring back in the checkout queue at the supermarket. Put a shirt on!

(Old prude obviously...)

YANBU.

LaurieFairyCake - that is double gross.

Urgh all round.

I may need to try to find a way to remove that image from my mind now. Yuck. I hope no-one buys the onions.

BadgersRetreatToOlympicVillage · 10/08/2012 19:44

i agree that in a supermarket i expect people to be appropriately covered.

A girl walking around in a bikini would make me as uncomfortable as a shirtless man.

it's inappropriate - save it for the beach or your own home

and it doesn't matter what they look like - fat or slim - just 'TMI' in shops if you ask me

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/08/2012 19:48

How many people see this in supermarkets and public transport abroad?
They don't, they dress appropriately for the occasion.
It's only the British that do this, fair enough we don't get a lot of sun but just Yuk.

Socknickingpixie · 10/08/2012 19:51

i expect the naked ramberler probally likes the rambling but not the cell time

catgirl2012 · 10/08/2012 19:53

I have never seen a man topless on public transport, a supermarket or a restaurant. I would think any of those would be inappropriate.

I have seen them topless walking down the street on hot days or in the park, which I don't mind at all, provided they are easy on the eye.

Spryte · 10/08/2012 19:54

LadyBeagleEyes - What rubbish, it is not something only the British do. Apart from Muslim countries, certain parts of Europe and Asia I think you'll find it is incredibly common for men to go bare chested in the heat.

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/08/2012 20:01

I've never seen Greeks or Spanish on public transport or supermarkets walking around without a top on, or a bikini top.
I think if you live in a hot climate you get used to it, and don't feel that you have to expose yourself to the sun 24/7.
The British don't have that luxury, but nor are they going to get a tan on the tube.

Socknickingpixie · 10/08/2012 20:04

its something you see a lot outside of europe but obviously not in countries where that sort of thing is frowned apon,i think the only country i havent seen it in was saudi and possibly egypt

Springforward · 10/08/2012 20:08

YANBU. To my dear old late mum, a man wandering about without a top on (unless on a beach/ in a swimming pool) was utterly neanderthal, and once her mind was made up about someone there was no way back. Grin

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 10/08/2012 20:14

I don't care where they are topless. A bonus is when they have a body to stare at admire Grin

My brother is 12 and has the body of a peparami but he goes shirtless. He does it because he is warm but he also thinks he is an Adonis.

I don't feel threatened by a shirtless man.

Migsy1 · 10/08/2012 20:18

UANBU!

My next door neighbour knocked on my door without his shirt as he was in the middle of doing some gardening and had to come round to my side. I was still a bit Shock though, especially as he is 90!! (Good on him for being able to do gardening though)
