Men without tops

I don't care how hot it is, I don't want to be confronted with a sunburnt, perspiring back in the checkout queue at the supermarket. Put a shirt on!

(Old prude obviously...)

Usual...I hate men topless anywhere but the pool or beach. I'm hot but I aint going about in a g string! Or in fact with my tits out.

SparklingGoldMedals · 10/08/2012 18:56

But how much hotter are they in a T-Shirt-really? I am not offended, but I don't want to see it, and don't feel it's necessary.

catgirl2012 · 10/08/2012 18:58

If they are hot then it's great

If they are not hot, they should be taken outside and shot

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 10/08/2012 19:00

It doesn't fuss me. If they want take their tops off they can. Just because you don't find it attractive doesn't mean they have to cover up.

Just like women wearing this shorts that show their arse. I don't want to see it but each to their own!

After what I've seen half naked on the streets I am actually appreciating the sun a lot more. Grin

Socknickingpixie · 10/08/2012 19:02

yanbu. i once crashed my car because of a fit bloke minus top

LaurieFairyCake · 10/08/2012 19:03

A shirted man does not bring me into close proximity of his nipples and if he did then the shirt would prevent his nude nipples touching me.

It's not hard to understand that someone touching you with their nude body is harder to deal with than someone clothed.

It's a bit worse if some guy gets his cock out on the tube and rubs it against your back than if they just tried to get their crotch closer to you [neither nice].

It is uncomfortable, it leads me to think theyre 'strutting' or 'displaying' their masculinity. If they 'accidentally' brush my face while shirtless then it's horrible and it feels aggressive.

A high number of women have been flashed at or sexually harassed and it can certainly feel uncomfortable if it becomes the norm off the beach for men to be topless.

We are not used to it as a society - or we wouldn't be talking about it on mumsnet.

SparklingGoldMedals · 10/08/2012 19:06

I'm with you Laurie.

twofingerstoGideon · 10/08/2012 19:11

So am I, Laurie. It's nothing to do with whether they're fit/fat etc.

I spent many years living in a country where the temperature frequently hit 40 degrees and more, as opposed to the paltry 24 degrees we have in the south today. Despite that, men somehow managed to keep their shirts on and lived to tell the tale.

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 19:14

I don't feel threatened by the sight of a mans nipple.

EasilyBored · 10/08/2012 19:14

Oh god. The sweaty shirtless people are vile. If a sweaty person in clothes bumps into you, it's a bit grim. If a topless sweaty person bumps into you, their sticky sweat skin presses against you, and you are then covered in their sweat. The thought makes me want to go and wash myself all over with Cillit Bang and wire wool

twofingerstoGideon · 10/08/2012 19:14

Question for those that think it's perfectly fine for men to walk around topless... would you be happy for them to disport themselves thus in an office, restaurant, or behind a shop counter, seeing as it's SO acceptable?

If not, why not?

OP posts:
SparklingGoldMedals · 10/08/2012 19:15

They are usually carrying the t-shirt. Why don't they just leave the house without it? Confused

Plus topless men driving. Seat belt chafing/sweaty seat back.

usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 19:17

I never said it's acceptable for a man to go to work topless, but I don't care if they are walking down the street.

SparklingGoldMedals · 10/08/2012 19:17

Yes two-anyone want some chest hair in their sandwich or maybe some skin flakes?

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 10/08/2012 19:22

It makes me cringe! First inkling of sun up here (West of Scotland) and all the eejits walk around with their T-shirts tucked into their belts- it's really not a pretty sight.

It irks me because I cannot believe it's because they are too hot. They obviously believe they are hot (in the other sense), and that flaunting their white (soon to be pink and blistered) puny/ flabby torso on the main streets of town will have women all a-dribble. Yeuch!

And I can only speak for the beer-bellied moobsters, or the pipe-cleaner-scawnies, because no man who is actually attractive and has a body worth flaunting ever ever seems to do this Confused

Spryte · 10/08/2012 19:25

A man working topless in the heat doesn't bother me, nor one eating topless. Obvioulsy I don't want someone dripping sweat into my food, but I have seen chefs working in hot kitchens mopping their sweat soaked faces with their hands.

For me the argument would lie more with personal hygiene (clothed or unclothed) rather than the amount of flesh exposed.

twofingerstoGideon · 10/08/2012 19:29

And in the supermarket is also okay, Usualsuspect? (As that was my initial complaint Grin)

OP posts:
Socknickingpixie · 10/08/2012 19:29

how is a shirtless man anything like flashing?????

isant that taking it just a bit to far.

usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 19:31

Nope wouldn't bother me in the supermarket either, I don't think I would give it a second thought.

twofingerstoGideon · 10/08/2012 19:33

It bothers me and there is no need for it.

OP posts:
notsofrownieface · 10/08/2012 19:34

Eww sweaty moobs, there was a chap on the bus with his shirt off, sweat on the bus seat mmm.

The same goes for women, if you are wearing a white, skirt, shirt or pair of trousers please wear flesh colour pants/bra.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/08/2012 19:34

Its not 'like' flashing, I'm pointing out that it is different to be rubbed against if the person is nude. In our society we wear clothes for many different reasons.

If there was no issue with nudity the naked rambler wouldn't keep getting thrown in jail.

We clearly don't like nudity as a society and a topless man is half way there.

Spryte · 10/08/2012 19:38

LaurieFairyCake - a penis and bare bum are slightly different to a bare chest in hot weather.

Socknickingpixie · 10/08/2012 19:39

but half way there is not actually there, rubbing against implys something compleatly different to being in the same space as you and being knocked against you when transportation wobbles or another person does.

stop being so dramatic

usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 19:39

Naked rambling sounds like fun.Except for the stinging nettles.
