To be OBSESSED with what celebrities are calling their babies

I am currently pregnant after years of very expensive IVF. I know I am being a bit precious, but please go easy on me.

So, after many months of not agreeing on a name with my DH, we have finally come up with something that we love. The thing is, I am worried that one of the celebrities who have recently given birth are going to 'pinch' the name. I am thinking in particular of Chantelle & Alex, and most recently Sienna Miller has given birth. I keep Googling, like all the bloody time, to try to find out what they have called their babies. Also, I have a few weeks to go - is there anybody else I need to worry about who is about to give birth? Is anybody else in the same position?

Sorry - I know this is trivial Grin

I think you're over thinking things a little. Name your baby whatever you like.

paradisechick · 09/07/2012 08:47

I know what you mean!

valiumredhead · 09/07/2012 08:47

Name the baby whatever you like you nutter

Sparklingbrook · 09/07/2012 08:49

Eww yes, you don't want to name the baby the same name as Chantelle and Alex. Sad

Vixxen · 09/07/2012 08:51

I did when VB named her baby this year. Thought we were in the clear as she was having a girl but no. She had to go and steal our name haha!

I don't really mind at all though, it's a lovely name (although still maintain its a boys name ;) )

I always want to know what the name is on these threads though :(

catinboots · 09/07/2012 08:51

We can't possibly comment unless you tell us the name Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/07/2012 08:54

Isn't one of the Kardashians pregnant?

GemmaPomPom · 09/07/2012 08:55

I couldn't possibly tell you on here, as they might read it and think, "ooh, I like that - I think I'll pinch it" Grin

Isn't one of the Kardashians pregnant?

She just had the baby and called it 'Penelope Scotland'. So don't have to worry about her any more...

Kourtney Katdashian had a baby girl yesterday - Penelope Scotland

Sparklingbrook · 09/07/2012 08:56

Oh, 'Penelope Scotland' is a great name. Confused

MrsRhettButler · 09/07/2012 09:04

Scotland? Wtf? I just said it to myself in an American accent in the hope that it had a nicer sound to it in American but no, it still sounds like Scotland. Hmm

Havering · 09/07/2012 09:08

Ha Brad and Angelina nicked ours. I was very grumpy for about 5 minutes then realized I was unlikely to bump into them at the local soft play so really not a problem!
I get why you are worried but please for the sake of your PFB stop - obsessing in names is the first step in a very slippery slope .... Wink

captainmummy · 09/07/2012 09:09

Didn;t someone call their daughter Ireland? Not a pretty word llike Eire, but Ireland? Can you imagine shouting that across the playground?

adifferentcountry · 09/07/2012 09:09

I think the Scotland is because of Scott (the father's name), and because the DS has the middle name Dash (part of Kardashian). So the Scotland is a 'Scott' reference.

Or maybe she was conceived there, though I can't imagine a Kardashian in Scotland...

adifferentcountry · 09/07/2012 09:10

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger have Ireland.

Moominsarescary · 09/07/2012 10:08

Kat and Alfie off EE nicked ours. We still used it though

ChaoticismyLife · 09/07/2012 10:18

OP are you worried that people will think you've copied the name from a celebrity? If so don't, worrying about what other people think of your choices will drive you mad.

Wrt the Beckham's baby...I always think of 'To kill a mockingbird'

GemmaPomPom · 09/07/2012 11:42

OP are you worried that people will think you've copied the name from a celebrity?

Yeah, totally. But I also want the name to be special. I don't want my child to have a pedestrian life and a pedestrian name.

OP posts:
Pandemoniaa · 09/07/2012 11:45

It's more important that your child fits their name. Which may sound weird but actually, you'll know this after they are born. Also, please tell me you are being ironic about pedestrian names and lives.

StuntGirl · 09/07/2012 12:01

You're worried a reality tv star will pick the same name? Yabu for picking an awful sleb name then.

Your kid will probably be pedestrian and normal like everyone else, best get used to it! Grin

Snowboarder · 09/07/2012 12:02

I don't want my child to have a pedestrian life and a pedestrian name.

GemmaPomPom · 09/07/2012 12:05

Yeah, yeah, I know Grin. OK, IABU, I accept that, I'll crawl back under my rock... thanks for being honest.

Penelope Scotland? OMG! The mind boggles.

You also need to think about babies on tv op, like Janine in Eastenders

Whitamakafullo · 09/07/2012 12:07

Mylene Klass nicked my DD's name (no, not Hero) but hey ho! Everyone and their granny seems to have that name these daysWink

I once knew somebody who had the middle name Caledonia. That's much prettier than Scotland!
